August recap: League leaders

-Lager League: Pilsner Division - Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot - Despite injuries to key starters like Dan Arnold, Eddie Portillio and Justin Devlin, Weyerbacher continues to roll along with a 95-32 record and a 17 game lead heading down the stretch. After last seasons dismal post season showing, Blithering Idiot fans have high expectations of their team this year.

-Lager League: Kolsch Division - Scorched Earth Giant Killer - the Giant Killer are finding their stride at the right time as they extend their division lead to 12 games heading into September. Bobby Antonio (14-6, 2.55) and Qi-Zhen Kuo (14-5, 3.94) continue to be a solid 1-2 punch on the mound.

-Lager League: Helles Division - Ballast Point Commodores - after a rocky start to the season, Ballast Point have continued to improve month after month and take a 7.5 game lead into September. Mike Roberts (13-4, 2.38) and Min Tae Bae (16-3, 1.55) are carrying the weight from the mound; while slugger Charlie Berry (28 home runs, 80 RBIs and .309 average) is doing his part at the plate to keep the Commodores atop the division.

-Lager League: Tripel Division - Great Raft Reasonably Corrupt - riding a solid 19-9 month of August, the Reasonably Corrupt slipped by Meadowlark to take a slim 1 game lead in the division. Slugger Sergio Araujo (41 home runs, 104 RBIs, .224 average) is doing what he can with his bat to propel his club to back-to-back division titles.

-Stout League: Porter Division - Terrapin Hopsecutioner - Terrapin is showing exactly why they have won the Porter division in every season so far of the fledgling Beer League. Starters Wil Gonzalez (12-7, 2.20), Jonathon Perkins (15-4, 2.04) and Justin Gable (16-6, 2.95) are doing their part on the mound; while center fielder Miguel Ochoa (10 home runs, 81 RBIs, .359 average) is swinging a hot bat at the plate to keep Terrapin rolling along.

-Stout League: Dunkel Division - Sleeping Giant Beaver Duck - the Beaver Duck hope to avoid falling asleep down the stretch as the take a 3.5 game lead into September. Ilan Leger (12-4, 2.03) and Florian Paruzzi (12-9, 2.82) hope to pitch their club to their second straight division title.
