Dang. This thing tween McD & the Cards is getting really real. I especially find it hard to fathom McD ever
was "shouting and physically menacing Mr. Bidwill in full view of many colleagues". Are we to believe this guy behaved this way towards his boss & wasn't fired immediately but reprimanded?

Peacock to exclusively carry an NLF playoff game.

Kinda ruins the whole "let's get the gang together all day, bbq, have some beers, and watch a crapload of NFL playoff games" plan... But it's a sign of the times, I suppose...

You can add Peacock to any TV built since the smart TV era began, which is around 2016 or so.

But yet, linear TV continues to decline and in the not so distant future most everything will be split between services.

My assumption was that the game would air on Peacock for paid subscribers. But if it is airing for anyone with Peacock (last time I checked, anybody can register for Peacock for free and get access to minimal content), then ya, it won't be a big deal for the masses to watch it.

It will be interesting to see how soon bars take up streaming services, as more and more sports go to them.

Now that, I do not know.

I imagine the NFL would probably like to keep it's playoff games 'free' to watch but also giving Comcast some sort of concession.

I get two choices with Peacock. Pay 4.99 or 9.99. Nothing free.

Chris Simms judging QB's is like Bob Dylan judging a singing contest.

Anyone that spends 1 penny on Peacock just to assure they can watch a single NFL game is stabbing their own tongue. Cause we all know this is a test run. Soon to see the SNF game you will have to be a Peecrock subscriber. To see the CBS main game that week you will have to buy Paramount. MNF will only be able to be seen by Disney customers.

Corporations continue to make Americans have to pay for the simplest basic items that we once got for free. Just because we were citizens. There's talk of heated seats in luxury vehicles becoming subscription based. And like sheep, the public continue to put up with it & governmental leaders continue to allow it as long as their "foundations" & campaign funds are solvent.

And what has the public gotten in return? Opening tips that allow us to go to sleep at a decent hour? Zero commercials? Pac12 games that don't being before noon local time? No. We get officiating that is getting worse & worse every game day. More & more athletes & coaches destroying the integrity of the game by getting caught gambling. And contests being played in Mexico & Europe.

I AIN'T PAYING FOR CRAP! YA'LL HEAR ME? NOT FOR ONE SNAP!

You spend one penny you are stabbing yourself in the mouth. Don't just keep your money. Make sure you turn on a hockey game. Or curling. Or make that weekend a record setter @ the movies. Don't just tell the NFL & their networks your disapprove. Show them you have other alternatives & will take them. That their perch atop the entertainment world is tenuous. Show the public will take only so much.

Zero chance I subscribe to Peacock.

If you were paying for Sunday ticket, wouldn't you be pissed about not getting that game?

Speaking of pay to watch, did you see what they did with the NFL app? At work, I used to stream Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night games using that app. Now you have to pay for NFL + to stream nationally televised games over the app. I just deleted the app and stream directly from the channel airing the game.

The NFL app even downgraded how you look at scores around the league if you don't have NFL+.

IDK. None of it surprises me. This is the country that made "Pay only for what you need" sound like an innovative concept. This is the country that allows businesses to charge you for the privilege of paying them $. Sick of it.

I don't have any streaming service. I have an internet service & that is it. At one time I had Disney. But once I saw the shows I wanted to see, I was just giving them $. I find other ways to entertain myself. And I continually get turned off by the greed of the 1% & their corporations. Sick of it. A bunch of extra crap they want me to get addicted to so I begin to feel I can't live w/o it.

I know I'm the old man yelling at clouds but I don't care. Those clouds better stop eyein' my lawn.

The only streaming services I have is because my wife wants them. I would subscribe to none of them. We have Amazon Prime, HBO, Netflix, some other crap as well, all her.

We've been married for 23 years. She always made 6 figures while I was a toll collector. I'm still working, she's retired. I'm not telling her no. She can have any channel she wants.

But we both agree that it can get ridiculous. To think I once wanted Sunday ticket but was unable due to the constraints. Now that it's on you tube I could get it. But I no longer have the desire for that product.

I just looked at Aaron Rodgers contract details with the Jets. Apparently they're going for it this year.

It's 4 years, but it looks like he'll only be there for 2 of them. His cap hits are....

2023 1.2 million.
2024 37.4 million

After that, they're clear of any dead cap. To me that distribution doesn't make a lot of sense unless they're going to stack the team this year. That's got to be the lowest cap hit Rodgers has ever had going way back.

Or they’re planning on renegotiating a deal if Rodgers decides he wants to stick around longer term…

What I find fascinating is that Rodgers allowed them to restructure his contract to avoid paying him 106M if they choose. I don't find it surprising because he said he was going to do something like that. I just didn't believe him. But since he has more money than the Count of Monte Cristo, I guess he's just trying to win at this point.

I think he's retiring after two more years. But if it comes to what you said, I'm sure they'll restructure the remainder.

I mean, it's just an NFL trope at this point: a heavily backloaded contract is basically "we're making this look good to you and your agent but we want to come back and renegotiate in a couple years". I'm sure there are balloon payments in there to keep the Jets from just like releasing him after Game 17 this year (plus, ROI of course).

They can't release Rodgers after this year. That's a 58M dead cap. But after 2 years, dead cap is zero.

I'm pretty sure his 3rd year cap hit is 56 million. Or zero if they release him. You know they're not paying him that. So if he stays, that probably would be renegotiated.

NFL allows flexing of Thursday night games. Once again showing corporate America's thirst for greed will always triumph over safety & needs of employees & the public.
