this. I don't see why OOTP can't look like The Show but be as in-depth as OOTP is known for. I came to OOTP because I could do the things I wanted that I was able to do on TLR3, HH2002 & Hardball3. I can not do those things on The Show but all 3 of those games still had better gameplay graphics than OOTP has now and all those games are over 20 years old. OOTP has come a long way with graphics and I am happy we have what we have vs when we had none or just 2D.

I have nothing against people wanting better graphics. I just warn that I’ve seen many games shift their focus from making solid games in favor of making mediocre games that look great but ultimately are poor. There’s a reason people still play MVP baseball, Madden 08, etc., and it’s not because of the graphics. They are games with great depth. I sincerely hope I eat my shoe and OOTP can be the franchise to buck the trend. Selling themselves to a cellphone company doesn’t quell my fears, but again I hope I am dead wrong 10 years from now.

I will say it is a bit interesting that people here who make stadiums and graphics specifically to overwrite the base graphics…say they love the visuals. This isn’t a slight to them though, they do fantastic work. I wish OOTP would hire them.

The v23 mod uniforms, by itsmb8, add the logos IE Nike, New Era etc., IE things that aren't licensed to be used. Along with alternates, city unis, etc. that may be licensed(?), they do have an MLB license after all but, for whatever reason, OOTP Dev. has decides not to do. Time constraints, along with the cost of coders would be my guess. Silvam and NoPepper (I think?) cover historical uniforms that don't come with the game. Along with other modders that cover MiLB teams of the present and the past. The mod stadiums are historical (and would need a license if OOTP Dev. included them) and not replacing the stadiums that come with the game with the one exception being Camden Yard due to the fence being moved back in LF. Me? I prefer the included Camden Yard as the "new wall" is only visual and has no effect. The effect of moving the wall back is done using the park factors . Then, also like uniforms, some modders are doing the endless job of adding MiLB stadiums. Licensing and time probably both being an issue.IOW these guys aren't replacing the graphics because they don't "love the visuals". They are adding to the supply of graphics. If OOTP did not improve the graphics a lot of what these guys do? Well it wouldn't need doing.

Nice to see I'm not alone in this version.
IDK...we'll see next year, but I think this will be my last as well. I 100% play historical years, so new rosters don't do a thing for me. Just tired of the same ol', same ol'. |

I’m only on my third release; but each year I enjoy both the game engine changes and the visual upgrades, which IMHO are well worth the $40 freight. And since I download both the Mac and PC versions, some subtle differences in game play - perhaps due to the differences in my platforms. I play historical seasons with real players but significant changes (like removing the color bar and allowing random development), so it’s important that the results reproduce IRL, as affected by my changes in approach. The stadiums and uniforms and visuals are more “bells and whistles” for me; but, hey, who doesn’t like bells and whistles that continually improve, plus all of the mods and add-ones that are available? To me, OOTP is the best of both worlds - challenging, realistic game play with stunning visuals. |

FWIW, the modern stadiums included with the game now are better than anything I have created. Most of the modern ones I created were done so before OOTP got the new stadiums from COM2US. Of course, they have zero historical stadiums, so I feel that’s where my work is valuable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am now at Day 12 and counting as I try to get Tech Support to respond to my concern. The problem confronting me concerns this message that appeared on my screen and prevented me from continuing my game:
“Error – OOTPB cannot load the database because it has been created with an earlier version of OOTPB.” I have read two documents that provide steps to correct it but each one tails off at the end and fail to explain what the one or two last steps that need to be taken. Similarly, I watched a video and the presenter just casually says you copy this to that but the visual is unclear as were his actions. In short, i need help and I have submitted multiple tickets to Tech Support and they have in turn responded by giving me multiple tickets but no help so far (day 12).. Therefore, my problem persists. I am beginning to wonder if I should call 911 and request that a wellness check be done for the Tech Support unit. Are they ok over there? Meanwhile, if anyone out there thinks they can provide me with clear step-by-step directions for solving my problem, please write to me at steven.wisensale@uconn.edu. Thank you p.s. My user name for this site is screwed up because the "u" in "edu" is missing - so just write to me at steven.wisensale@uconn.edu. Frustrated in Fresno, baffled in Buffalo, abandoned in Abilene |

The level of expressed appreciation for of Silvam14 stadiums is severely not equal to their added value to the game (for those that care about that). |

Not to downplay ANY of the concerns anyone else has, but I wanted to say that this year's version has given me NO problems... and that is the first time in at least a few years that has happened.
I am happy.

Yeah, I can echo that. Not to minimize the issues that others have had. And I do stand by my experience that my problems with the game have generally stemmed from [1] misunderstandings on my part that amounted to “user error”; and [2] aspects of the game not doing what I wanted that could be tweaked or adjusted by changes to various settings, as recommended by posters on these forums. When I encounter an issue, I usually check the forums first, before starting a ticket. Most of the time there have been others with the same or similar issue, and many times others have jumped in to suggest solutions or work-arounds. And frequently such issues are picked up by subsequent patches, so that help from support is not needed. I don’t mind (and in fact enjoy) a degree of tinkering with the product to adapt it to my particular needs. I totally get it that others expect it to work perfectly “out of the box” for all purposes, and that’s fair. Just not me.

Love Silvam's ballparks. They are awesome for my historical sims. But I think I am going back to 2D for now. I am using the Grisby pics of parks.I spend more time watching the little animations then getting into the game itself. lol
