Nowhere Men Cling to Lead in OL S262
Nowhere kept barely ahead of Waffletown in what seems to a three team race with Cary. However, a quick scan at the busy upcoming schedule reveals room for a miracle run by one of the lower tier teams.

Nowhere is thrilled to announce the addition of Mike Piazza to the team. a couple lucky pulls the night of the BAL perfects (Scherzer, Harper) & a few PD wins put us in a position to take advantage of having one already, finding a good deal (at the time: 29K) & overspending (IMO) on Charles Johnson - figured if there is a guy to do overspend on... might even find a way to carry 3 catchers because...
We grabbed a cheap-ish Heavy Johnson just because we always wanted him on the team. glad to have him, but ecstatic about Peak Piazza. have to thank lucky perfect pulls, selling some historic diamonds of players I have no intention on finishing the BALs of (might buy back at some point) & perfect draft (love that mode). got the guy I was targeting from the start & his D has improved quite a bit.

Unless I have a bit of luck with packs today, I don't fancy Paxville's chances of clinging on. Up and down with Paper St. all season, and the Reds are on a scary run... It's been a really good 3-way tussle! Oh yeah, well jealous of Piazza...

Annandale sure has been streaky this season. I guess there’s always hope they can be streaky hot today and take the crown but I suspect it will not happen.
As far as logos go the game has decided it loves the Annandale logo but for the last few weeks my other teams logo has been impossible to set. I hate it when that happens. |

Afternoon Bronze update
Boulder City and Sugar Hill have been eliminated in the race for the OL Bronze Crown.
Annandale took 2 of 3 from Silly Mad. So there are seven OL games left that matter. First up is Annandale and Silly Mad they have one three game set left. Silly Mad will need these games as they have fallen a .5 games back in the wildcard race. Later tonight Algoma faces West Burlington for four games. My math was a little off this morning. If Annandale manages to win out and go 5-1 vs. Silly Mad, Algoma needs to win 3 of 4-not 2. From there the number of wins the Pens require will drop by one with each Annandale loss. |

My terrible luck opening packs continues - thus all three of my teams are in Iron/Bronze Limbo. My original statement is still true; I have only pulled ONE usable Diamond from packs and about 4 Live cards which were sold. All other Diamonds have been purchased in the AH (probably at high prices). If that wasn't bad enough, my luck in tournaments and PDs has been dismal. I'm beginning to wonder if I should be playing Soccer instead, lol.
Gettysburg Bullets, Iron 172 80-65, 2nd Place, On cusp of Promotion to Bronze Team doing well. I'd rather not be promoted yet since I have few resources to improve team for Bronze. If I do get promoted, I'll likely return to Iron the following week. In the OL we are 28-22. Cleveland Indians, Bronze 202 60-85, On cusp of Relegation to Iron The Commodores simply aren't ready for Bronze. If they get relegated I have more time to build - if they don't, at least they might share a league with their sister team, Gettysburg. In the OL we are an embarrasing 22-29. Baltimore Barons, Iron 172 81-65, Tied for 1st, Playoffs possible but questionable. Baltimore is my most successful team this season, although getting into the playoffs is a real question. Promotion puts us in Bronze (bad idea). I'd rather the team stay in Iron. If the reconfiguration works out best, all three sister teams will be in Iron next week. In the OL we are 32-23.

Tip of the hat to Cedar Rapids.
Reds 13 - Kings 6 is the final tally for the season. Paxville are inexplicably crashing and burning, whereas the Reds are pillaging and burning!

The Red Sox have already won 118 games in Iron 172, with two to play, so for the first (and probably last) time in history, we have the winningest team in the league. The September swoon is overdue!
Also, should I or someone be tallying OL win/loss records in I172? I'm not sure how to do it, and it's a busy weekend for me, but I might try to find time to do it if no one else can?

Annandale takes Bronze Crown
Algoma went into their four game series at West Burlington needed a split to earn the bronze OL crown. They won the first one but dropped the next the three making Annandale the hardware winner. The Penguins may look back at the third game of the series where they had a 2-0 lead heading to the home half of the 8th. After retiring the first two batters of the inning the Farmhands strung together seven hits that plated six runs leading to a 6-2 West Burlington victory.
Congratulations to the Atom Smashers Management and players. In PT play Algoma, Annandale and Boulder City are playoff bound. Silly Mad Brewers were in a see-saw battle for the second wildcard spot that took a 163rd game to decide. The Brewers dropped that game 4-2. All Bronze teams landing spots for next week are decided so you can get a jump on your friends list. Promotion: Algoma, Annandale and Boulder City Remaining in Bronze: Cleveland, Coney Island, Silly Mad, South Holland and Sugar Hill Relegated: Inland Empire and West Burlington |

Nowhere Men Hold on to Claim OL S262 Crown
Nowhere and Waffletown battled down the stretch, but in the end the Men heaped their final indignity upon the hapless Port Ruppert Mundys, sweeping them to retain the top spot.
In PT play, the sweep also banished the Mundys to bronze next season. Oswtego Lake will also be headed there. Waffletown came up just short in PT play, losing a playoff for the final wild card spot in the AC. The Syrups will be the only team in OL262 to stay put in silver next year. Lemp Ave. also played a game 163, this one to determine their division, which they won, assuring their promotion to gold. HelthWyzer, Cary, and Nowhere will also be going to gold. |

Waffletown 2027 wrap-up:
They had their fate in their own hands regarding a post season spot, only needing to win 2 of the final 3 games against the worst team in the division. Unfortunately for the Syrups and their fans, they lost the first 2 games, only salvaging a win on the final game of the regular season; ending in a tie with the San Antonion Tacos for the final WC spot. In game 163, Waffletown jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, but the Tacos tallied a run of their own in the third, then two more in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Waffletown would answer back with a run in the bottom half of the fourth, and would tie the game at 3 apiece with another run in the 6th. The game would extend to extra innings, where the Tacos would pick up 3 runs in the top of the 10th with a bases clearing double from catcher Roy Campanella. Waffletown would fail to answer in their half of the frame and would see their season come to an end. "It's a good reminder not to take the playoffs for granted." said second baseman Adam Kennedy. "After making the post season every year for five straight seasons, you start to just expect it... but ya gotta earn it." On the individual front, Cy Young had another solid season with a 17-7 record, 3.22 ERA, and 218 strikeouts. (20 wins short of 100 for his career with the Syrups). On the offensive side, Alan Trammell led the team in average at .316. Hack Wilson led the team in home runs (29) and RBIs (116), the only player on the team to break the 100 RBI mark this season. Lenny Dykstra came up just short of a personal best in stolen bases with 70 this season (best of 72 last year). |

Good luck to the Reds, go get 'em! I'm also gonna have to wish Carnegie Hall very, very good luck in the WC. Seriously, have your boys bring their best! The BAL perfects have made Diamond a much scarier prospect, and I'm still waiting for my 2nd week of proper OL action...

PT Playoffs so far
Attached is S262 tree.
In Iron - Boston is the only team left and is up 3-0 in conference finals. Boston, Baltimore, Gettysburg, and New York will all be going up to bronze. Route 66 is headed to stone. The rest remain in iron. I hope someone is going to the OL standings for iron. It's the only crown left for this season. We have never missed a crown, so it would be nice to keep the record intact. |
