I cannot believe this game. My friend and I ordered a pizza and watched the game.
When it was 6-0 I told my buddy that the game was still a game. Along comes the 6th inning; Wakefield comes in. I was completely baffled at this move. You've got an offense that can score 6 runs no problem in an inning or two. WHY, why would you bring a pitcher in who can be totally hittable on any given day. Low and behold he gave up two runs to make it 8-0. I then told my buddy that the Red Sox would lose 8-7 because of that stupid move. They scored 5 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th. But then it didn't matter after the Spankees put it away in the bottom half of the 8th. C'mon! How can people be so clueless. |

Game 2
Bump in the road... It's one game. We've got 6 more ahead of us.
First of all, we saw the Yanks best last nite in Moose, Gordon, and Rivera... They can't throw those guys out EVERY game. Secondly... even though it was their best... we STILL scored 7 on them. Even with Francona's complete inability to manage a bullpen (which is well documented here so I won't dredge up details), we almost made what would have been the greatest comeback in playoff history. When our offense gets going, it's like putting a pinhole in a dam... if it doesn't get stopped up fast... get ready for a deluge. Tonite is a VERY important game... we have THE man on the hill tonite. And he's got something to prove. When Pedro has has a chip on his shoulder, he pitches out of his gourd. Take the split, take 2 at home... take game 6 at the toilet. I originally said Sox in 6 and I'm sticking to it. EDIT: That sounded a little too pep-rally-ish... not taking anything away from the Yanks... great team... just think for the first time im my life that we're better. Heh... just posted the same in another thread...
http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=162765 It seem that not only was his ankle frozen last night to stop the pain caused by the tendon, but he was also wearing a brace.

Not looking good for the Sox...

Definitely deserves a bump. Where is that offense that was 'so good' during the season. Pathetic.

Hard to believe that the strength of the Yankees so far has been their starting pitching. I can understand Mussina outpitching Schilling with a torn tendon, but Lieber outpitching Pedro? WOW!
Another good, exciting game .. no matter which side you're rooting for.
