octones,

To be perfectly honest I don't understand your question....

Did we "intend" to slow down the game ?? No.

Did we intend to add roster rules ?? Yes.

Did the act of adding roster rules slow down the game ?? Yes.

Will Markus look into seeing what he can do about it ?? Yes.

If your complaining because we didn't inform the community that the game would get slower if we added roster rules, I would have to say we didn't know until it was done - and didn't expect that result would be so detrimental to the environment everyone wanted.

When you compare it to my 3 year old relic Celeron that runs about 1.2GHz with 384MB of RAM (nad that 384 represents an upgrade from it's 128MB of a year or so ago) and a new 40GB hard drive that I just put in the damn thing, yes, it is.

That was my point, plain and simple - if you have a machine like yours, you shouldn't notice a difference, and if you do, it shouldn't be as noticeable as on a machine like mine.

Well, the patches are tested correct? Was it slow during testing or did something go wrong in the production version? That's what is meant by intending to slow it down. Was it always slow in the testing or not. I don't see what is so hard about actually giving a response to this issue that fully answers the question. I don't care if it comes from Marcus himself.

I'm just looking for an answer to whether this much of a slowdown is actually supposed to be there or not. I know, more calculations add to the sim time. That's not a problem. But are there really that many more calculations that cause the sim to take at least twice as long (rough average of most people reporting in this thread)?

I know things are looked at and fixed and that is the main reason I am a loyal customer to this game. I thoroughly enjoy the new realism added in the patch. It is a very welcome addition.

There was a lot of stuff added into v6 yet the sim time remained pretty darn fast. Now that sim time is pretty darn slow. I simmed two seasons last night instead of my usual five to seven I have been simming lately (I am simming from 1901-1950 and then taking over a team).

Just looking for an official response and not a "well whenever you add more AI calculations things are going to slow down" response. You might as well just say "who cares, you have to live with it now don't you?" because that's how it comes across. I know you deal with many issues, but this is obviously an issue that has garnered more responses than any other from the latest patch. To attempt to dismiss it by just telling us to live with it is unacceptable. To tell people to TURN OFF options to speed up the sim time is unacceptable. People buy this game for it's realism. To tell people to deviate from realism to increase sim speed is assinine.

I'm not really upset that the game sims a lot slower. I can live with it and I will. I am upset at the responses given by management and skirting around the questions like a politician. It's either a "Yes, the game should be this slow now" or "No, the game shouldn't be this slow now" type of question.

That's basically my config and it wasn't a huge difference in speed. Slower but not enough to annoy me and I only noticed it in September.

here the problem

it was not slow in 6.02...

but when 6.02a came out shortly after it is slow now...

so something happen between 6.02 and 6.02a thay cause it...
it was a very minor update form 6.02 to 6.02a...so that one minor fix for 6.02a should of not cuase this slowness...

One "minor" fix might do it but that's not something that any of us can say for certain.

Please guys... we said Markus will look at it. There's nothing more we can say or assume until he does that. If there is a problem, it will be fixed - if not, then that's the way it is. Right now we don't know.

I can't believe all of this... I am extremely happy with the new patch and how it effects the game. I have not noticed any slow down at all, but even if there was I would gladly trade speed for a much smarter AI and more of the rules being followed. Sometimes you have sacrifice, and perhaps this is one of those times.

Just a suggestion, for those with slower sim times would you mind posting if you are on your master hard drive or a slave and how much free space is available and how big the drive is? Mine is running fine and I have plenty of room with over 1/2 my hard drive free.

the slowness also depends what size league you have...

try 30 teams league if you havent yet with patch 6.02a

Slave drive but it's always run quick before.

10 GB drive with over half the drive remaining.

Only thing on the drive is OOTP stuff. Nothing else.

16 team league (1920's). No game logs generated. No human owners. Everything financial turned on.

Sim time went from roughly 10 minutes for a season (maybe less) to over 30.

I can only speak for myself here. If the speed drop is because added features, so be it. It's worth it. I suspect that their may be a small error or bug involved though as my league is acting very different since the patch. I'll wait until I hear from Markus.

Is this the part of the thread where everyone's tired of arguing and the "+1" posts begin?
