A career mode where you can start off in the minor leagues and work your way up to the Majors. You can do that now but you're basing off when to promote yourself. Maybe working on the AI 1st then developing this would be a better choice

1. A revamped financial system with ballparks as a factor in revenue (or lack thereof) as well as a true luxury tax system.

2. AI Bullpen warmups

3. True Grapefruit and Cactus League setups

4. The ability to communicate your wishes with players/staff and other personnel.

5. Organizational Culture and goals.

6. True to life winter leagues with the ability to have players. from various leagues play in them.

7. a new and much more intuitive UI

8. A revamped mail system where you can choose what leagues/players/teams you would like to subscribe to.

9. Multiple scouts where you would have a director of scouting in each scouting category. (Major Leagues, Minor Leagues, International Leagues, Amateurs).

10. A more intuitive and detailed development system where there is some strategy other than the amount of money spent combined with luck. Perhaps a director of development for the minor leagues combined with playing time, money spent, (but on what??...maybe some more detail about where you can invest money) playing time, coaching....maybe more feedback from coaches and player development about progression

So, that's what I have for now. I am sure I could think of more, but this is my holiday wish list at this point. How about others?

I want full history for the MILB. Hopefully we can get a license for the Nippon and KBO leagues as well so we can have history for that as well.

Also want to use associations with minors or feeder leagues

Since my focus tends to be on fictional play, i'd love to see more emphasis on this. More create a ballpark options to personalize them to an era or location.
the ability to switch from challenge to commisioner mode and vice versa.
more pbp content

Love the game and love that ootp updates the game after release.

Batting vs. Pitchers

Minor but make the arrow scroll between players allowable from the Daily Lineups. When you click on a guy now, it doesn’t have the arrows so you can't scroll through the others without returning. It does when you click on a guy in the main lineups screen. This would help with the already somewhat cumbersome task of using the Batting vs. Pitchers screen. An added bonus would be to add a Batting vs. Team button to this screen to avoid the long scrolling through for every player on that screen.

for starters

Please cut down on the lame infield hits. I suppose mathematically the numbers are fair but it's so awful when a ball is hit back to the pitcher and he just floats one over to first. Second why does every great play (ie diving stop on a grounder) by an infielder always result in a subsequent error?

There was a thread about that earlier in the year and I think it was determined that a. infield hits make up a larger portion of singles than people think and b. OOTP is pretty well on track with them. I personally would still like to see, say, a separate field in the DB with Project Scoresheet type notation in the game so we can track that kind of data without scraping text, but it’s one of those situations where, if stuff is off, you need data showing that it’s actually off, not feels.

I just have more of a problem with the visual optics not the actual number of infield hits. I play all of my games out so if I'm in the minority, so be it. I'll still continue to buy and play the game.

Few ideas for spring training:
  • Accurate schedules for each team (Florida teams only play other Florida teams)
  • Ability to choose which teams train in Arizona and Florida and what ballparks they play in
  • Minor league ST and teams only play opponents from either AZ or FL (i.e. Mariners AA team would only play other AA teams that have their parent based in Arizona

not sure if this has been mentioned since this thread and other has gotten quite hefty, but I would love to see the Asst. GM as an option for signing/releasing minor leaguers and not just the Minor League Coaches.

More options for awards that gives us options so the AI can use them. IE All–WBC team and set values the AI will use to pick these players.
IE being able to set comeback player of the year for a player who missed a set percentage of time last season.
Being able to set awards based on a set combo of stats.

At this point I play historical leagues and have little interest in current leagues. The only thing I'm really interested in is for Negro League players to be added to random debut. This year's version does a pretty good job rating them anyways.

1. Move adjust/weaken batter/pitcher settings to AFTER league creation instead of during league creation.
2. Instead of just a box score also have a scoresheet.

Can we fix defense so it isn't so OP? In online leagues I've joined, so many people just run out a ton of shortstop and centerfielder builds and ignore great bats to exploit the defense meta. Makes it super boring and not sim-like. Infield and outfield range shouldn't be the end-all be-all of how good a defender is. Baseball Prospectus just introduced new defensive stats showing that plenty of rangy players are great at getting the ball but bad at completing the out, which... defeats the purpose of having great range. Would be nice to have these two new stats or OAA instead of ZR as well.

The engine should also be fixed so that having a low turn double play harms players at 2B or SS. As it is now, you can play a Matt Chapman type player at shortstop who is 65+ in range/error/arm but below 50 in TDP and still be a very good SS defender. Why have the TDP tool at all if it ultimately doesn't matter?

Infield arm should probably be broken into accuracy and power, too. Catchers should also get a range tool besides just framing and arm, to show how quickly they can run and catch foul pop-ups or scramble to bunts. Determining catcher defense/zone rating based off their framing ability and arm doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Also please for the love of god host online leagues on your own servers (and fix the exploit that allows people to get into commish mode). People would pay for hosting. Don't make us all rely on our own know-how or Dave at StatsPlus. It would be so much easier for people who play online if OOTP did this and it would become significantly more popular. The commish could just set a time for the sim to take place each day, kind of like how PT has a scheduled sim. You could also take a page out of S+'s book and have sortable leaderboards (including picking time spans), which are super awesome and helpful. I'm sure some solo offline players would even utilize this system.

Adding opponent's wOBA to the list of pitching statistics that can be added to custom views.

I would love for the game to get to the point of running on dedicated servers rather than relying on file transfers and manual steps done by commissioners. This would improve a lot of aspects of the current online league experience.

* Transactions and drafts can be done in real-time in-game.
* Game scheduling can be much more flexible and on an automated schedule.
* A full-featured web interface could be developed.
* News stories could have much more variety using generative AI.
* Exploits having to do with re-downloading the league files would be fixed.

There are also many challenges and risks involved.

* A new subscription payment model would need to be set up.
* The number of new entities and business rules required would be significant.
* A lot of new infrastructure would be required to host the data needed to drive the views and also the processes involved to run sims on the server rather than client machines.
* Depending on how clean the presentation logic is written, it would potentially require a full rewrite of the UI layer of the native application.
* The amount of resources needed for support would be substantial.
* GMs would no longer be able to interact with the game without an internet connection.

I'm sure the actual devs know of a lot more hurdles.
