Yeah, what's happening in the NC? There's one tiebreaker coming up between the Snappers and Red, but what about the Giants? Play the winner?

EDIT: And more importantly, you are holding my HR Title PP ransom! Finish it up so I can spend my dough.

Matt might have to answer or verify if I'm on the right track, but if you look at the head-to-head records, the Giants had a losing record against both Snaggletown and Guelph Gryphons Red; so I'm assuming they have been eliminated based off that

What should happen is that 2 teams play the first game, and then the 3rd team plays the winner for the right to advance.

However, I know that there's some issues in the current tiebreak code in specific circumstances, and I think this might be the situation that screws up. We'll have to see, but my gut says we'll only get 1 tiebreak game and the other team will be eliminated. This will be fixed for next year, where we'll have a full and proper tiebreak system in place.

so potentially we should see another game pop up after this one.... nice.... and I had it backwards in my initial post... the Giants had a winning record against both the other teams, so it would make sense they get to sit back and wait for the winner of the other two teams....

edit: you were correct... just the one tiebreak matchup and Snaggletown moves on

Crazy finish to a great first season with the 50 point cap.... wildcard tiebreaks in both conferences; and some great performances by overachieving teams to reach the post season. Of the 30 teams in the league, 17 were on the friends list from the original thread / 13 were not. Of the playoff teams, 8 of the 10 were from the friends list. Well done. I did another quick point audit to get the updated numbers for the playoff teams:

AC West: Guelph Gryphons Gold (49)
AC Central: Kenner Gators (15)
AC East: Flagstaff 49ers (64)
WC: Daytona Davidsons (48)
WC: Kubinka T-44's (31)

NC West: Toronto Developers (48)
NC Central: Baseball Sharks Doo^6 (39)
NC East: Durham Tattered Gloves (19)
WC: Chesapeake Clippers (15)
WC: Snaggletown Snappers (45)

Orcin said in the perfect league thread that playoff teams going up against non-member teams over the cap are exempt from the 50 point total, so that should apply here as well. So For Daytona/Kubinka, whoever advances to the LDS to meet Flagstaff has free reign with their lineup. Should Flagstaff advance, same goes for anyone else going up against them.

5 consecutive MVPs?

He's a lock for 5 consecutive Silver Sluggers and 3 consecutive Gold Gloves in LF. The issue is how heavy WAR is used vs. something like WPA, where he's 3rd by quite a bit (4.60 to 5.40 for PIT Trout). Also, whether Playoffs matter like it often does in real life, because PIT is out.

Just a ridiculous tight division all year long and the Snaggles comes out of nowhere to rain on my parade. Poop.

In all seriousness many congrats to the teams that earned a very hard fought playoff berth in the NC. You deserve it. Down to one team to focus on at Diamond now. Let’s go Gold Gryphs. Tough Flagstaff team and couple others to try to get through. Hopefully get another crack at the NC teams. I honestly think my Red team had a better year by individual players. But died when it counted down the stretch.

Fun season all around.

I have trouble believing it’s just luck how great your Trout is. I think individual cards can have some kind of magic in them. Yours obviously has that. Amazing.

It's clearly the uniforms. Distracts the pitchers into throwing meatballs.

More seriously, the move the LF definitely helped him the last few seasons. He's a very good CF, but a dominant LF (Arm is only weakness and LF uses it least). The extra WAR from that defense helps to separate him from the sea of similar CF Trouts.

My electricity was out for a while, so I just now got to log in and see that my Clippers made it to the playoffs! Congratulations to all the other playoff teams. I'm hoping this year will be different, since we've yet to win a playoff series and lost both WC games before.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to rest my top starter (Len Barker who won the ERA crown) due to not having Internet access so I'll have to go with my #2 guy Chris Carpenter in the WC game against the Snaggletown Snappers team (who'll be starting Len Barker). Previously, we were 2-4 against them, but I don't see any advantage they have over us.

Definitely a fun season (even if my team wouldn't have made it). Sorry your Red team didn't make it. I didn't realize the Snappers were so close, so I was quite surprised when i found out they had won it (and in a 1 game playoff - ouch!).

While I doubt my team will make it to the series, who knows, maybe we'll play each other in the playoffs yet. Good luck to your Gold team!

As much as I said I hated your Clippers... I’ll secretly be cheering for you (at least until they meet the Gold Gryphs in the WS!).

Congratulations to everyone on an incredible season. Kinda wish we hadn't finished as strong as we did, that 1 GB stat is such a tease!

We were able to upgrade to 100 Ohtani for next season, so the F2P Bandits are still making those slow improvements. There's always next year.

Go NC West! Let's win it all.

Diamond housekeeping notes:

from the perfect league thread, these teams will be relegated and moving down to Diamond (at least this is the last info I saw posted and I doubt any major shakeups happened in the final week):

-ratrail (Omaha All-Stars)
-jo3269 (Kenner Lynx)
-mooch (Bellevue KnuckleBallers)
-ChelseaNS (Bedford Blue Lobsters)

so they will need to be added to the Diamond league friend lists.

For Diamond relegation to Gold league, we will be losing:

-New Jersey Diners
-Dundee Scotsmen
-Kankakee County Tigers
-Flatville Maroons (motorhead667)

just one from the list (go kick some Gold league butt and move back up motorhead).

For this inaugural season of the 50 point cap league, we had 17 from the list of 27 that showed up in the league. Here are the ones who didn't show up, so double check your friends list and make sure we've got everyone covered.

-alcapone (Granite City Redbirds)
-Berek59 (Darmstadt Howlers)
-joshrapley (Juneau Huskies)
-LiamF (Renton Warriors)
-liamthecat (Cooper Gutter Cats)
-Lukas_Berger (Nice Aigles)
-NelMit (Ursa Minor Polaris)
-Pooplog (Strawberry Milk Trucks)
-sclavette (Rhode Island Octopi)
-Sonchell (Comanche Peak Inferno)

for the playoff teams, good luck in the post season. Take down those 49ers and lets see two of our group reach promotion (sorry Kris/Snaggletown.... )

Thanks for these lists, Jason. It will help me a lot this morning. Your "perfect demoted" list is correct. Some of the "missing" are new signups, but I hope to make contact with the others today.

I will be updating the original recruiting post this morning to reflect next season's list.

Seems odd to have your starter (Mark Prior) throw a CG 1-hitter, with no walks and only get 100pp, but I'll take it for the WC victory and to move onto the next round.

Great job by the T-44's - I had no regrets playing them for the WC and if they had taken my Davidsons out right there, a tip of the cap would have been forthcoming. We were neck-and-neck all season.
