Meet the Mets!!! Dynasty est. 1962 (Version 2.0)

We get swept by the Dodgers in Chavez Ravine.
In this game we struck out 16 times.
Take a good guess who was on the mound.

After getting swept by the LAD, the Cardinals take 3 out of 4 from us.
In this game, we struck out 12 times.
Some bum by the name of Gibson was pitching.
I heard he MIGHT be a HOFamer someday.

A well pitched game between Bob Shaw and CHC Clifford Adams.
But the bullpen blew the game up as we fall to the Cubs at home.
Yes, everyone, this team is worse than last year's.

We split a series with the Pirates.
Bill Skowron smacked 2 HRs in the win @ the Grounds.
Johnny Podres pitched 5 good innings, even though he was slightly tired.
For the month, we are dead last in pretty much everything.
Lets see if June is a better month for us.

We play a very good game versus MIL.
Take a look at the game log for Top 14th.
TWO HUGE consecutive errors costs us the game here.

We get 1 win out of 4 versus STL.
But in the game I played, STL Bob Gibson shows us once again how pitching is an artform.

We go into extras versus the Reds, but to no avail.
When the opposing team gets into our bullpen, I think they already know that they have the game won.
But looking on the bright side of this season, at least we should have a high draft pick in the 1963 MLB Draft in December.

What can we do besides calling 911?

Wins are hard to come by with this team.
But when we do get them, it makes me sleep a lot easier.
Thanks to some hitting by George Banks and Donn Clendenon, we do take one from the Reds.

Another game where we get hammered.
I can see why the early 60s Mets were known as the loveable LOSERS!
Oh boy.
Now I know what Casey Stengel went through in the early years of this team.
We do get 1 from the Cardinals though.
Yay team!

Even when we play a good game, a botched play or error leads us down the road to defeat.
Bob Shaw pitched pretty well, but PHI John Boozer pitched better.
I hope my owner understands the growing pains this team has to face before it becomes what he hopes it will be.

Embarrassing!
We score 5 runs in the 3rd and it looks like that we might get a win over the Cubs.
Then the Cubs blast us for 14 runs the rest of the way.
Lee Gregory has yet to win a game this year!

What did we learn in the month of June?
Not a thing.
We stink, we are lousy and I might be losing my job in only my second year of this thing.
I also lost Bob Skinner for almost a month.
My Minors are still very empty because of the early years of the franchise.
I brought up Bob Uecker to fill out the bench.

We take 1 out of 4 versus the Cubs @ Wrigley Field.
Jack Sanford just keeps proving me wrong when I took him in the offseason.
I thought he was the best acquisition I made.
He better have a better year in 1964.
Meanwhile, CHC Don Prince just ran over us in this game.
My owner thinks I stink.
Yeah, he's right.

1963 All-Star Rosters:

Congrats to Russ Nixon.
2nd year in a row that the Mets send one player to the Midsummer Classic and its a catcher.
Last Season, it was Gus Triandos.

We take our 1st series since sweeping the PHI Phillies in May.
We take out the Pirates 2-1.
Thanks to George Banks and Bill Skowron as we head into the All-Star Break getting our 20th win!

1963 All-Star Game:

The NL was cruising, but then LAD Larry Sherry posts a 63.00 ERA as the AL erupted for 8 runs in the 8th inning.
NYM Russ Nixon was 0-2 with an sac fly RBI.
MIN Bob Meisner was the MVP for this game.

Side Note:
I understand that this all-star game was played in Cleveland in 1963.
In Challenge Mode, I cannot change the venues for the games since they appear to be randomized.
