Brooklyn jumped up to #3 on the Weekly Power Rankings, behind the Highlanders and Tigers. They are the top NL team.

Players of the Week: JACK PFIESTER, SUPERBAS & Mike Donlin, Highlanders

Pfiester went 2-0 with 8 strikeouts and a perfect 0.00 ERA last week.

Brooklyn then had two days off, but Boston lost a game (as well as having a day off) so the two teams are tied again.

Boston fell a game back but now the Cubs are in the mix, back by only a half game after sweeping a double-header!

Cy Young didn't give up an earned run but 3 unearned ones by the Reds sent the game into extras, Socks Seybold tied the team lead with his 3rd home run, an inside-the-park number int he 12th inning, to give Brooklyn the 5-3 win. That is now 9 in a row.

Fred Burchell walked Cards pitcher Ed Walsh to lead off the 8th. Walsh later scored so St.Louis could win 2-1.

There is no excuse for that.
