Absolutely no way Hatton stops him .. wins easily sure but doesn't stop him. Come on meade ... lay off the Cortez stuff ... Hatton had all his reffing breaks in his first 40 fights. |

As for Cortez, I'm telling you, I watched the fight again...and simply find Cortez more pathetic and inept every round I watched. That was a huge fight.....Absolutely ridiculous the bush league performance that Cortez put forth..... |

As for Hatton, I really haven't heard him complain about the Ref (on the whole). Outside of he thought the point deduction sucked.......I've not heard him say it was any excuse for losing..... I think it has been more Hatton fans...or fans in general (like myself) who just thought Cortez was awful....and did play a factor in the fight... |

Know I'm chiming in a bit late here, but I had it 5-3-1 for Mayweather through 9 rounds. As previously mentioned, no way it was 8-1, or even 7-2. The judges seemed determined to mess Hatton over, should the fight have gone the distance. Ricky is king at 140. Would like to see him unify that division.
On another note, would like to see Floyd step up to MW and fight Pavlik. Mayweather could use a heaping helping of humble pie, and I believe that Kelly is just the man for the job.

IMO too many people judge Floyd on his personality. That's who he is. I rather him be himself instead of a puppet for the media. PBF should be remembered for his accomplishments in the ring, not for his antics. |

I'd like to see Pac Man fight Joe Calzaghe ... Joe could take him. I'd like to see Nonito Donaire jump up and fight Chad Dawson. Yeah I know he stepped up to JMW to fight a blown up LW ... not a full fledge JMW. ![]() ![]() ![]() I know I've said this a million times but I like my boxers to be arrogant punks ... nice guys finish last. Sugar Ray was always a douche bag ... only difference was he smiled for the cameras ... him and PBF are one and the same when it comes to personality. Last edited by mh2365; 12-12-2007 at 06:59 PM. |

You can be "cocky", self assured and all the rest WITHOUT being an immature punk. There is a big difference between the two......PBF is a 30 year old going on 13....... That isn't "cool", he is pathetically immature more often than not. Ali was robust, talkative and all the rest....But he was an adult more often than not about it......PBF acts like a spolid brat (and then cry's after every fight like a child does when they are ashamed of themselves). He is a hell of a fighter but like I said.....the kid is pathetically immature. And immaturity is never a cool trait....I don't care how big of a bad as$ you are (or think you are). What a storied history though. They won a ton of International League pennants, saw some great players like Elston Howard, Nap Lajoie and Reggie Smith go through the clubhouse and were a huge success at the gate in the fifties when Jack Kent Cooke owned them. I can't blame anyone for being a big fan.
Wait a minute, you're referring to the Leafs that wear funny sweaters and lose all the time. Different story.

Yeah, does guys! They are part of the punch line to the old joke, "What's blue and white and lives in the cellar?" (Any team in Toronto)

debrief
Just got back from vegas and would like to point out some observations. It was a great spectacle and the travelling army of ricky fans made the atmosphere unbeliveable. the wiegh in was intresting foresight into why the morons booed the national anthem, rickys support was phenomanal and to try and counter act that and find some identityfor the pretty boy the american flag became a big part of floyd`s entrance (they even shipped in 100 local school kids who were flag waving) . 80 percent of all americans i spoke to pre fight wanted ricky to win, never before has there been a more unpopular champ?. pbf maxed it out coming into the ring to born in the usa ...... clever pr stuff cos this fight was not about usa vs uk but the crowed had been suked in , then came the usa anthem which was booed much to my and any decent englishmens embarresment.(deepest apologies). every non commited american was now rooting for pbf , the old five card trick!
Cortez wasnt exactly great but the simple fact was pbf outclassed hatton stopping him on the inside and leaving himself with no plan b. floydd moved to a new level than what we have seen and put on a master class , hatton got fustrated and left himself wideopen, the rest is history. pbf spoke well after the fifght and was full of praise for hatton . pbf will become an all time great and i say that through gritted teeth , not sure if ricky will ever be the same. on another note hopkins got sucked in by the crowd at the weigh in and squared up to calzaghe , i believe the fight is on in april, bhop looked much bigger and i fear another british defeat but hopefully the fans wont shane themselves this time. |

Smart of Maywether to praise his opponent after a fight. If he says he just beat a bum it tarnishes his own image as a great fighter.

It always surprises me when politicians, athletes and other people use "Born in the USA" as "propaganda" (Wrong word, but I couldn't come up with a better one) as Springsteen ment something completetly different when he wrote it.

Springsteen is a fool....Who loves to badmouth a country that has provided him with both the opportunity and the resources to live the lifestyle he does today...... That others use the words of his song (or the hook of his song) for a more supportive gesture is all the better. The guy is a mindless dolt who doesn't have a clue what he is talking (or singing) about more often than not.

A lot of people hated him . . . he was wildly popular in the last third of his career, but there were plenty of people who held his war stance and religious choices against him to the end (or I guess thought he wasn't as good as advertised)

Bruce has released 15 studio records in 35 years. Certainly he's made a fortune, but could have made two or three fortunes, and won perhaps a few more knick-knacks, if he chose to do thing differently. But he has a rep as someone who puts in an absurd amount of time in the writing/recording procesees, specifically because he takes the time to know what he wants to say and wants that conveyed perfectly in the final product.
