In theory, that would be the best solution. The difficulty is, as Cubby described, whenever he removed a player from a team's roster (to change their team, etc), the salary was still counted against the team's budget. So I think teams have a larger payroll counting against budget than they should, and to level things out, cash has been added to each team. Adding to the budgets themselves would solve the problem for year 1, but in future years, every team will have budgets which are way too high- budgets change from year to year, but not drastically. In any case, some editing of financials is probably going to be helpful after you finish playing the 2007 season. I'll look into this and see if I can suggest an ideal solution...

You can, but you'd need to edit all the events to be 2007 as well and make the game realise that the game had done everything it needed to in 2006.

FYI if you open world.dat in a hex editor, it will start with the following eight bytes

00 - always 00
nn - current simulation day
nn - current simulation month
nn nn nn nn - current simulation year (MSB on right, LSB on left, so 2007 is D7 07 00 00)
00 - always 00

Cubbyfan,

I've just tried loading up the database through my reader program and have found the following issue.

Country ID 221 is assigned to both 'Serbia and Montenegro' and 'Tuvalu'

One other thing - not a big deal.

When you turn scouts ON, it assigns normal rated scouts to each team and leaves all of the great scouts (w/ 90+ ratings) in the 'available personnel' area. Allowing people to snag these scouts. In theory, you could assemble the 5 best scouts in the game to your team. It may be a "house rules" deal. Again, this is way down on the priority list, just wanted to bring it up.

Great work!!

Love the rosters and appreciate all the hard work you put into them. This is the first OOTP i've bought and it makes the game so much better having a roster set like this. Many Thanks.

...and if anyone else has a Mac, I'm having trouble loading the Gambo db in a 1994 Quickstart i'm playing, it keeps saying it can't find it, i guess im putting in the wrong path for it. I know on a pc it would be C: and then the folder. Anybody nice enough to walk me thru how to do it on a Mac?

On a Mac- I haven't tried Gambo, but with Lahman, there's a browse dialogue; Gambo should work the same. It doesn't actually matter where you put the file, you just need to point OOTP to the right place. I didn't need to type the pathname or anything, just showed OOTP which folder the db was in. Let me know if you're still having problems, and I'll start up another league and explain what happens on my machine.

Well maybe I should have been clearer, I'm already about a month into the quickstart, and I'm trying to get the 1994 Draft Pool from Gambo in instead of the fictional one. If you click "League Options" on the bottom tab and go to "Rules" and then "Historical Rookies Options," it asks for a database path, and thats where im getting stuck. I've tried Macintosh HD/...folders/...folders/GamboDB and a couple of other paths and moving the folder to other places on my HD, don't know what i'm doing wrong. I got it to work once before in an earlier game and don't remember how.

I never saw a response to this, but there is a 2007 schedule that is included with the game. I am not at home right now, but I *think* it's called MALB2007.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but the birthdates are still off for many of the players (it looks like players should be one year older). Is this planning to be corrected in a future release?

Cubby, another question. I remember from a post by underlined.i about him having the DSL and Mexican leagues available. I see from your roster set that the leagues are in there, but not visible AFAI can see (the teams in the DSL have bizarre home stadiums).

I've got rid of MLB22 from my copy of your download and removed all other things that refer to it.

I guess this is ANOTHER glitch (oh how fun) in that if I create a new "Major League" and delete the old one, the others still stick around. Not really sure what the point is to deleting them if all it does is remove them from view. :\

Redsoxford, if I sent you a copy of the file I have now, is there anyway you could see if you could "clean it up" a bit, removing these two left over MLBs, etc.? You seem to know what you're doing here and I am a bit clueless.

PM Sent.

As I said in the PM there are a whole series of events saved in the world.dat file for leagues that are deleted - they seem to be marked not to appear in the calendar or cause any human intervention needed, but I would have thought that if you delete a league, the game should delete the upcoming event log for it as well.

Actually, if you delete a league, it should just be deleted rather than unactivated. A league takes up over 750Kb when it's blank and not being used.

I can't get any trades to work with MLB players. I'm playing with the Twins and no matter how much money I put on the other side, the Twins still can't afford the contract...ugg. I suppose I can force trades, but that's not the same.

It's a problem with financials, it'll be fixed in a release tonight if we can get it up and running correctly.

Sorry to say this again, but has anyone else noticed that player pictures disappear when you become manager of the team?

These rosters sound great, but I am sort of a newby, and wondered how much better they are then the Airman Smith rosters, which I am using now. Would you guys advise me to restart with these rosters, or continue my game with the Airman Smith rosters?
