Javier "6th Inning Exit" Vazquez goes tomorrow, so it's probably just as well that the Sox postponed today's game. Hell, it may well be the real reason why they postponed today's game. I love Palehose 7, BTW: ![]() |

You know, if somebody came up to me and said, "after the first 4 games, Javier Vazquez will be your only starting pitcher with an ERA under 5", I'd have laughed myself silly.
Now I'm not sure quite what to think, except to think two things: 1) Vazquez looked fantastic. 2) Guillen actually knew when to pull him from the game. Oh, and Michael Cuddyer made a very, very costly mistake. |

Dola,
The only roof the South Side has ever needed was the one that Ron Kittle used to hit baseballs over. :fireworks: |

Very impressive Major League debut for John Danks yesterday - one bad pitch away from 6 scoreless innings (and one pitch away from 18 consecutive shutout innings for the weekend). I certainly didn't expect Danks to outduel Santana, but he more than held his own against one of the best (if not the best) pitchers in baseball today. Santana, as usual, handcuffed the Sox, which isn't really a surprise at all.
All in all, a solid weekend - hopefully, Contreras and Garland can shake off their lousy starts and get things back on track. There's still a chance that Buehrle could make his next scheduled start in Oakland, but they may hold him back until the Cleveland series next weekend. |

Nice game last night. It was good to see Contreras bounce back from the horrendous Opening Day and good to see us finally look good in a game in Oakland.

Yes, for the last few years it was almost safe to assume that a game in Oakland was a loss. It was nice to see the win last night and hope there are more to come.

Over the past 3 games, Sox starters have combined for 18.2 IP, 1.93 ERA, and a 1.02 WHIP. Since Buehrle got hurt, the bullpen has put up a 1.15 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP in 15.2 innings. Not too shabby.

[sarcasm] Glad to see that the 2006 Mark Buehrle is here [/sarcasm] I can't stand watching him pitch anymore. He just serves up meatballs.

No kidding. Him turning down that contract last season may be one of the best things that never happened for the Sox.

Jermaine Dye's first homer of the season couldn't have come at a better time - brand new game!

Lucky for you guys he decided to shed 20 pounds and actually be in baseball playing shape again after he sucked Oakland for 30 million dollars over approximately 30 games over 3 years.
Really I don't mind the Sox other than Dye and Crede. I just have so little respect for Dye it's amazing. Oh, and pls let Jenks come in for the 9th kthx ![]()

Buehrle looked much better after the first inning - hopefully he'll look more like that for the rest of the year.
