My team took inspiration from a number of other successful teams so if you say to yourself “I don’t even know who to use” the best thing to do is make a team, enter a tournament, and then see what team won. Do that a few times and you’ll have a good idea of the players you should be using. |

Frightening bug in OOTP PT I am trying to track down.
So I filed a bug report here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=328555 about sixteen hours ago but so far nobody has responded to it. Perhaps they only check the bugs forum once a day, I don't know.
The essence is that both my teams (Southpaws - OL and Perfect Pitch - BFF) became hosed somehow around 5 pm EDT yesterday. They show no players on the active or reserve rosters (though the starting pitchers still show in pitcher tab but with no relievers). So both my teams are hosed and I can't do anything with them. The problem continues today. However, what is wierd is that the simulations continue with the same "hidden" roster: in fact, my record has improved during that time! Since they haven't responded, I wanted to track this down a bit myself. Could someone else in Silver.262 click on my rosters for Cary Southpaws and see what you see? Do you also see empty (0/26 players) rosters? Do you also see five starters for my pitchers? Or do the rosters look ok except for me?

Thanks for doing that, stl jason! So, the bug appears to be that the rosters are not being downloaded from the server to my local computer, not that they aren't there. Wierd.

I assume you've done the ol' "clear the cache" troubleshooting option, yes?

So, I just tried it by logging in to my Southpaw team, clearing cache and then restarting OOTP. Now when I log on to Southpaw team, my rosters correctly appear. However, when I log on to Perfect Pitch, their rosters do NOT appear. So I cleared cache and restarted while logged on to Perfect Pitch. But, once again, the rosters are not there. I repeated the clearing cache, restarting for Perfect Pitch. Still no rosters. Wierd that worked for one team but not the other.

Well, I spoke too fast. As soon as the next sim occurred, my rosters for Cary Southpaws are once again gone. Resetting the cache no longer restores their roster (this is even though I did a submit team once the rosters originally reappeared).

I feel bad that Crakes won 2 out of 3 from the Southpaws during their leadership vacuum. Your team seems to be doing well enough in the Silver seas while rudderless though.

Well, I "think" I have the answer to the problem I have been having: just take any player that is normally on your roster, put him up for auction. The very next sim, the roster got restored (minus the player put up for auction, of course).
I will see if it "sticks" but if anybody else gets this problem, I would suggest trying that to fix it. That worked for the Southpaws (I put up a diamond player that is on one of the diamond missions) and the very next sim, everything was restored. I am now trying the same for Carnegie Hall to see if it works for them too.

Well, after one more sim, the Southpaws roster is empty again. This is a really crazy problem, not sure why nobody else is reporting it.

In an attempt to shore up their pitching staff Cedar Rapids have signed right hander Satchel Paige. Carl Hubbell was demoted from the active roster after struggling this year in the bullpen, and Jeff Pfeffer moves to the bullpen to make room in the rotation for Paige.
Texarkana continues to stay clear of the relegation zone hanging somewhat in the middle of the pack, but are currently playing sub 500 ball in diamond. Their bank balance continues to grow with the sale this evening of some historical diamonds pushing them to 680k. Cedar Rapids also made some sales, but also spent some points to finish off the rest of the Paige mission.

Algoma inched closer to Annandale in the OL race by returning the favor and sweeping the Atom Smashers in their home ballpark. Otherwise a relatively light schedule yesterday. By quick count Annandale and Algoma each have nine games today in what is becoming a two team race. Sugar Hill and Boulder City meet six times today, one team needs to dominate those six to keep their hopes for a crown alive.
In PT play the only change is Silly Mad hold a WC spot by .5 games in what appears to be shaping up as a four team race for the two spots. Cleveland, Inland and West Burlington remain in the relegation zone. Cleveland played over .500 ball yesterday and if the Commodores keep that up they may have their heads above water by September. |

Nowhere Holds onto Lead in S262
The Men had the month off from OL and maintained the top spot, while the ghost ship Cary Southpaws sailed into second with a 5-2 mark.

In a minor roster move, Waffletown have signed reliever Bob Locker (won a diamond pack from the daily late silver tourney)... Jumbo Elliott will be sent to the reserves to make room.

After looking like they were fading yesterday, Cedar Rapids has closed the gap a bit with Paxville, now just trailing 5 games after a 10 game win streak. Somehow we've managed to maintain a (barely) positive record against Paxville and Paper St, but dropped enough games elsewhere to fall behind last month. Satchel Paige is off to a good start in the rotation, which will hopefully help a bit down the stretch. More work needs to be done with the staff though.

Just to let everyone know, the roster problem for my teams has been resolved. I was using a new beta version that had problems. Restoring the version to the non-Beta version appears to have resolved it.

Managed to finish 3rd/4th in the Unsung Heroes event last night and won the first ever Tournament reward card of my PT career (have won plenty of packs, never a card) - 88 SP Mordecai Brown!

Heading into the final month Algoma has jumped Annandale to take the top spot in the standings as the calendar has turned to September. There are four teams still alive for the crown, but Boulder City and Sugar Hill would need a complete collapse of the other two teams and play over .800 themselves. Like they say in poker though- all you need is a chip and a chair…
Annandale needs to win at least 5 of its 6 vs. the Brewers to put any sort of pressure on the Penguins. I f the Atom Smashers go 4-2 Algoma would have to drop 3 of 4 to West Burlington who they have beaten 13 times in 15 games. Remaining games Algoma (4) : @West Burlington Annandale (6): 3 @Silly Mad, 3 vs. Silly Mad Boulder City (10): 4 vs Inland Empire, 3 vs. South Holland, 3 vs. West Burlington, Sugar Hill (16): 4 vs. South Holland, 3 @Coney Island, 3 @ Cleveland, 3 vs. Inland Empire, 3 @ Inland Empire In PT play not much has changed. Boulder City, Algoma and Annandale are locks for the playoffs. Silly Mad has extended its lead for the second WC spot to 3.5 games. Doesn’t seem any other OL team will be vying for a playoff spot. |
