Iron 207

The Iron 207 OL crown came down to a 4 game series between the Algoma Penguins and the Boulder City Wreckers. The series was split and the Algoma Penguins won the OL Championship.

There was also a lot of drama in the non-OL race as 8 of the 9 OL teams were in the playoff hunt. Despite their lack of OL success West Burlington dominated their division and are in the playoffs. The Penguins, Wreckers, and the Cleveland Commodores all won their divisions as well. The Boston Red Sox and Bluffton Boomerangs both earned Wildcards (as the Barons and Hot Rods fell just short). 4-6 of the playoff teams will be promoted and Le Whale will be headed to Stone.

Since I didn't really have much participation this week I missed opening any packs yesterday. I decided I would buy 3 for the Warriors. Only card worth mentioning was a diamond SP Mel Parnell. He straddles the line of maybe making the bullpen but I am leaning on putting him up on the AH his last ten were 10.5K. So I get the money back for the 3 packs with a little spare change after tax. What he has going for him is he is an extreme ground ball lefty. I am going to hold him a bit before I make a final decision.

The Warriors added Jay Howell as the teams new closer. The other positions they are looking to upgrade is RF as well as a backup OF who can play both corners but that is proving to be tough.

27 Subway stops to the North Sugar Hill added Watty Clark to the rotation and Yogi Berra behind the plate. Nothing much else doing to help the team and its theme.

Will log back in later today to track playoffs so I can make adjustments to my friends list.

Non OL aside. Don't know if you watched yesterday's final game, but Chytil really has come along on face-offs, since his wrist has fully healed. Lafreniere had only a dozen goals, but at least half of them were remarkable, including yesterday's. I just hope when they inevitably give in to Dolan and chase Eichel, they keep their hands on Chytil. He skates like the wind.

Silver league:

All three OL teams made the post season, with Cedar Rapids claiming the top seed in the AC; Waffletown taking the AC Central crown, and Cary taking the top WC spot in the NC.

Only 4 teams get promoted, so the LCS teams will move up to Gold.

Every OL game this year seemed to be one we had to win. Was searching desperately for difference-makers in the AH to no avail, and Lemp stalwart and hardhead Bob O Farrell (he once continued playing after suffering a fractured skull) came through!

What We Know for Sure

Here's a quick review of those teams that are staying put or being relegated, for those who want to get an early start (everybody?) on their Friends List.

R113 - Sunday Drivers remain in rookie
ST102 - Shinbone and Gear Terrace stay in stone
ST157 - Iron Maiden stays in stone. Please friend them so they have no more...you can guess the rest.
ST 164 - Jackson remains in stone, and also a ?
I207 - Route 66 and Baltimore remain in iron
I214 - I Am Steve Kuffrey is tied for a relegation spot, so they need to self report whether they are staying or going down a notch.
B248 - Annandale, Inland Empire, Sugar Hill, Coney Island, South Holland, and Silly Mad all staying in in bronze. Las Vegas going to iron.
S270 - Otsego Lake staying in silver

That is everything we are certain of. The promotions and other remainders will have to wait for the PT playoffs to reach the semi-finals.

Really deep on young defenseman. I can see Miller going because he proved he was commodity. Up front Chytil is safe but would be shocked if Buchnevich is back.

Final four in Bronze is an all OL affair. The Crakes will take on the Nowhere Men with the winner facing the winner of the Mundy vs. Perfectos series.

So those four will be headed to Silver next week. I can do Bronze stats next week with the exception of possibly Thursday.

In S251, Cary lost in the wildcard series. Waffletown lost in the Division Series while Cedar Rapids Reds is currently leading the sub-league series 1-0.

So the status of all OL teams is now known for next season: Cedar Rapids will advance to gold, while Waffletown and Cary will be staying in Silver. Since it appears that four teams will be advancing from Bronze to silver, there is at least an opportunity for six OL teams in Silver, which would mean there would be an OL crown.

In Iron Algoma and Boulder City are battling in the Sub League series. While Cleveland and West Burlington despite losing in their division series, based on records should be heading to Bronze (6 promotions).

With those four along with the returning teams we should have ten teams in bronze.

For Friends list purposes: Algoma, Annadale, Boulder City, Cleveland, Coney Island, Inland Empire, Silly Mad, South Holland, Sugar Hill and West Burlington

Latest PT Results

I went checking to finalize the promotion/relegation, but I should have checked the forum first. This is what I have to add to the previous posts. You should be able to finalize your friends list as of now, unless we get a late new enlistee.

R87 - Asheville up to stone.
R113 - Shoebox, Sunday staying. Daytona Beach appears tied for promotion spot, so assume them in both rookie and stone.
R161 - Gem City still alive in playoffs and will go up while Burnside stays.
ST102 - Keystone and Gettysburg still alive and go up. New York goes up. Left Coast will now stay.
G307 - Texarkana was eliminated and will stay.

I think that covers everything not previously posted. The playoff tree for B248 is attached. Lemp Ave. is reminding Port Ruppert that yes, they were the better team.

Will check back in an hour or so to see if there's hardware. We know there'll be at least one World Series Trophy. There are still OL teams alive in I207, S251, R161, St102, and B248, if I am correct.

Cedar Rapids made it to the finals, but that Kerryville team is stacked. I'll be lucky if they don't sweep.

Yeah, and keep in mind they were only the "second-best" team in the NL this season. The best was in my division, of course.

PT Update

We have two all OL World Series in progress, though they may be wrapping up soon. Keystone leads 2-0 in ST102, HelthWyzer is up 3-1 in B248. Cedar Rapids trails 3-1 in S251.
