We don't have an Asda here I'm afraid.
I am quite partial to Haagen-Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake though.

Anyway, I didn't mean to take this thread OT with this. I only put what I did as a throwaway comment, because Sammy is doing better than a lot of people thought he would. But to say what you did was very crass and stupid, bababui, imo.
Next time, I'll not bother trying to make jokes - they obviously don't come across well from me.

Is Sosa A Mistake For Rangers?

Josh Lile is a history major at the University of Texas. I've brought him aboard as MLBTR's Rangers correspondent. For his first post, Josh weighs in on Sammy Sosa and the consequences of giving him a roster spot.
Sammy Sosa beat out an infield single in today's game vs. the Cubs. Let me repeat that. Sammy Sosa beat out an infield single. The main point of contention behind Sosa coming to camp is Sammy turning into Juan Gonzalez part deux. Juan Gonzalez, in the minds and hearts of Rangers fans, is remembered as a guy who half-heartedly played the field, walked out infield contact, and barely put any effort into anything. The same reputation was earned in Texas by Alfonso Soriano. Somehow Sammy has been humbled by his year off, and he appears to be hungry enough to make some magic this year.

Sammy, after today's game vs the Cubs, is hitting .500 in Spring Training games with two homers. His main competition is 26 year-old Jason Botts, amonster who dropped a .980 OPS in AAA Oklahoma last year. The outfield and DH spots are virtually set with Frank Catalanotto, Nelson Cruz, Brad Wilkerson, and Kenny Lofton as the other four.

The last spot will come down to Sosa and Botts. Coming into today Botts was hitting .400, so he isn't playing himself out of the lineup. So if you have a 38 year-old coming off a year off after steroid rumors, or a 26 year old masher, who do you choose? Personally I think you have to go with Botts or risk him developing into Travis Hafner with another team.

However, Ron Washington seems to be drinking the Sosa Kool-Aid. Ron had this to say in Tom Singer's article on at MLB.com: "People say he can't do this or can't do that, but he hasn't showed me any of that. He can do anything. It's his reward for working so hard."

So the question is this: which Sammy shows up if he makes the Opening Day roster? Do we get the slacker Sammy that will do his Juan Gonzalez impersonation, or do we get the hard-working Sammy who will come in and endear himself to Rangers fans? Since 2001 when John Hart blew $100 million on old corner infielders and relievers, the Rangers PR department has failed miserably and alienated many fans. If the hard-working Sammy shows up there is almost no chance Ron Washington keeps him off the roster, and the fans may start to come back.

Probably Henrik Larsson's last game for Man Utd today, tried to get a ticket for the Boro game but people I know wanted too much. After him playing in the Prem and showing he can hack it in the Prem only the people who know jack about football can say anything bad about him.

Cool!! Looks like Wigan has been saved relegation and with the boatload of money they will get will probably be safe for years to come.

According to the local paper the season they got promoted they made £4,000,000 this isn't profit it was what they made before wages and the likes were taken out, it seems bit low to me but that's what it said but last season in the Prem they made £35,000,000 so they made an extra £31,000,000 by being in the Prem and then they wonder why teams will try to sell their soul to stay in the Prem or get into the Prem, and next year the money goes up.

The extra matches they play in the EPL will hurt the English teams in the Champs League like it probably does in the EPL.

Maybe because of the vast disparity in money, they should make the EPL a closed league?

I'm not so sure, I think the FA Cup replay could hurt United but was watching the Barca v Liverpool game and by all accounts Barca had played the same ammount of games as Liverpool and that's not throwing in that long trip to Japan to play in the Tin Pot World Clubby Trophy Thingy.

If anyone wants to have a good laugh, there are a couple of quite amazing threads over at BigSoccer that I really can't believe the responses to.

The first is entitled "Could MLS Ever Be Included in the Champions League?"
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=496321
and the second is titled "Another Barcelona MLS Inovolvement(sic) Rumor"
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=493632

Just wow.

I don't think it will be a closed league but with the massive increase in money next year I can see the same say 5-6 teams every so often changing from the Prem to the Championship, unless Wigan bring in a couple of good players they could be one of that group, teams like Watford, Charlton, Sheff Utd, West Brom will keep going up and down from the Prem to the Championship and back again.

Just wow.

Champions League in the next decade, I think there's more chance of Wigan Athletic winning the Champions League and Leighton Baines holding aloft the World Cup as Englands captain than there is of an MLS team in the CL.

There should be a two-legged 32 team World Champions League.

The Barca thing shouldn't be allowed and this is why try as I may I find it hard to take the MLS serious, they seemed to be running a good league then all of a sudden their throwing crazy money at Beckham and coming up with the "Beckham Rule" it's just stupid, saying that though I am going to try for the last time and give the MLS a fair crack of the whip this season and follow it from start to finish.

Chelski will be invading Los Angeles this summer. And the Beckham affair is kinda like what happened with Daisuke Matsuzaka in baseball.
