2034 SEASON WEEK 18
RECORD: 1-5 OVERALL: 72-34 +10.5 (Las Vegas 62-45 2-4) RUNS SCORED: 622 (25) 1st RUNS AGAINST: 433 (31) 1st OWNER/FANS: Ecstatic 94/100 SCHEDULE: 1 vs West Michigan/Off Day/3 vs New Orleans/2 @ El Paso INJURY NEWS-Sancho Ramirez had an issue with his back on the 23rd. He was taken out and it seems it's a bit more serious. He's out 1-2 weeks so rather than wait around we DL him. 23 year old RHH William Cosgrove is called up from AAA. He's a supreme defender at 2B who can play an IBL average SS. When all is said and done he's likely a 2 hole hitter with very little pop. Below average speed but an exceptional base runner and stealer. He was hitting .397/.450/.552 at (A) Plano after 30 games and then hit .291/.352/.401 in 59 games in AAA. A 2nd rounder in 2028 by New Hampshire he was signed at the end of camp as a minor league FA. Tony Booth will play 2B vs RHP, Cosgrove vs LHP and he'll move into the lineup for late inning defense to get Heeren off the field. 7/24 WMI 5 SAN 2 W-X. They're 41-68, 29 games out this year and owner Mark Roberson Jr was expecting a post season appearance again. Their offense has had a miserable season, combined with a 15th ranked bullpen and 11th ranked rotation and a Staten Island team winning at a .642 clip. A few days later they announce the signing of former Mountaineer AAA manager Joe Hiscock to a 5 year 3.3M dollar deal. Hiscock (not going to be a problem in the clubhouse much...) managed short season ball for the Voodoo from '29 to '33 and then not even a full year this year with AAA New Hampshire (Oakland) before getting this job. 8/2 SAN 3 CC 2 W-Garcia (5-6) L-Rincon (8-13) S-Whaley (30) HR SAN-Barker (6) Garcia 7.1 IP 7 H 4 K (lost SHO in the 8th) Barker 2-4 HR R RBI (35) Rincon (CC) 7.1 IP 5 H 3 BB 2 ER 8/3 SAN 2 CC 1 W-Finnin (3-0) L-Ash (0-1) S-Whaley (31) HR SAN-Hutchison LO (27) Heeren (18) Finnin 8.2 IP 5 H 6 K 1 ER 127 pitches (3-0 2.72) Heeren 3-4 2B (24) HR R RBI (67) Ash (CC) 7.1 IP 6 H 5 K 2 ER SIGNING NEWS- Alaska hands out a 102M dollar deal to Cole Martin. He has saved 173 games over the past 5 years after leaving Chicago. Standings Leaders August 18th
There may be 1 division race, if that. But both Wild Cards could be a blast. Remember the format for the playoffs is changing, Wild Card round is best of 5 and this is likely the final year of this format.
It's looking like the IBL may expand by 4 clubs, and move to 3 6 team divisions in 2 leagues, with just a single wild card team. The league is still exploring options on the expansion clubs.

I used to do play-by-play for the Glacier Pilots when I lived in Anchorage. Hopefully no planes have to make an emergency landing near your ballpark! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uORsD65...%3DuORsD65aHZc
Very cool dynasty. My biggest challenge with these is following through with them. This has got to be the Cal Ripken (ahem, Lou Gehrig) of dynasty threads. Great work, Iron Horse!

He's had quite a year, hitting . 294-42-118 in 121 combined games between AA/AAA. He was our 8th rounder (240th overall) in 2030 out of British HS in Washington, DC. Coming out of nowhere the past year to put himself in the hunt for an IBL job next year. With Weijers struggling and him being an outstanding defender he'll get some starts in RF. Valle will go into the rotation and given the big lead in both places (division and #1 seed) we'll go with a 6 man for September. There will a few more call ups once the AA/AAA seasons end. Vegas unloads one of the premier starters in the past decade in Curran. Pretty heavy price to pay as he's in the final year of his 5 year 85m dollar extension signed in 2031. They'll need to re-sign him for this deal to work. He's been out since April 16th with a shoulder issue. He's a former Koufax winner and has a lifetime record of 111-49 2.99 in 206 starts.

No real division races to speak of, though Sacramento and Fresno could surprise and make the Pacific a race.
Domingo Casillas is attempting to become just the 2nd player ever to win the batting triple crown as he's now grabbed the RBI lead. Jeff Bullock is trying to become the 1st IBL player to ever have 3 50 homer seasons, in a row no less and Derek Craig is making a HUGE MVP surge. Both leagues Wild Card races could end up being very entertaining. remember the format change, the wild card round this year is a best of 5. This is likely the final year of the 4 division format as well. If expansion does in fact happen the leagues will split into 3 6 team divisions and the playoffs will revert to 3 winners and 1 wild card.

The races with 5 to go
Chicago has clawed back into the mix for the Midwest and a shot at redeeming themselves after the past few years.
Domingo Casillas appears headed to the first triple crown since the IBL's inaugural 2012 season and Bill Hill of Dayton. Garetg van Claveren sits 9 K's short of RJ's record of 333 strikeouts, and he's got 1 start remaining. Some good individual stat races shaping up too. Green Bay, El Paso and Fresno are all within 2.5 games, Fresno has just 4 games left though. Dallas, Baltimore and El Paso are battling for 2 spots. Fresno needs big help.

Chicago wins, Columbus loses. Chicago has an off day, Columbus has Green Bay 1 more game and then they meet in the seasons final 3 games!
Foppe Melis (coolest name ever) drove in a run to move 2 RBI's in back of Casillas, the ONLY possible threat to him winning the triple crown. Jeffrey Bullock homers to tie teammate Derek Craig for the CL HR lead. Most importantly, El Paso wins, managing to tie Dallas and Baltimore for the last 2 WC spots. One team is going home in 3 days. And in stealth news, keep an eye on the race for the 1 seed in the Frontier, Staten Island, a top 3 rated team all season long, is now 2 wins behind the Avalanche.

What a day.
So let's see, Columbus wins. That means the Iron Pigs must sweep to win the division. El Paso, Dallas and Baltimore all lose, meaning they're still tied with 2 to play. Columbus' win over Green Bay, combined with Providence winning means the Black Sox clinched at least a tie for the 3rd WC position. Foppe Melis drives in 3 runs!!! Casillas hits a solo HR but they are now tied at 135 RBI's apiece!
