Thanks UK for the link.

Ashley Young for 10M pounds is stupid I think. Letting Baros go and bringing in Young and Carew is not strengthening their club at all.

Baros for Carew is potentially a huge upgrade. Regardless of what you feel about the players respective ability (for the record Baros is pretty mediocre imo) the fact is Baros has been effectively on strike at Villa since the summer and merely getting his negative vibe out the dressing room will be a boon. Actually getting a decent targetman in return is an added bonus. Assuming Carew can settle they’ve got a player they badly need. Carew provides an outlet ball, and is reasonable at both holding it up and linking.

Young is certainly overpriced, but Villa will find that with anyone at the moment given their need for players and the influx of cash. He undoubtedly has the potential to become great value, but it is a bit of a gamble. On the other hand he fills another sizable hole in the squad with his quality on either flank or as second striker.

Will football change ? Will do if Platini as anything to do with it. I agree with some of the things he wants to change but one thing that worries me and this if it's true is he want's to stop players tackling, his view on it is that a player should be skillfull enough to anticipate where the pass is going so there is no need to tackle, personally if this is true I can't see him getting away with it.

Other things he want's to change are limiting the number of champions league places to 3, totally agree with him on this and to be honest I'd have it at 2 at most. He doesn't want football using instant replay again agree with him 100%, other sports have proved that even with instant replay they don't get the decisions right everytime plus the fact that in England alone there are 92 professional teams could you imagine the ammount of money it would take to get cameras at every ground.

He want's to start using 4 linesmen, imo a great idea as a linesman can't see what's going on at the otherside of the pitch specialy when he could be looking through a crowd of players. Apart from the tackling which like I say I can't see him getting put through I personally think he could be a breath of fresh air, least he has a feel of the history of the game unlike Johansson who would sell his Gran for a profit.

Disagree with Platini on #1, but then he is French and the thought of violence scrares him.

Agree with the CL places

Disagree about instant replay..the way its been used at the Australia Open has been effective and it was shocking how many mistakes the officials make,

Instant replay imo takes apart of football away that makes the game great and that's talking about the decisions that have been made in games.

Nope no news on him, personally glad that Diop isn't coming as to me he doesn't have what it takes to help Wigan stay in the Premiership, first thing he asked for when he spoke to them was to have it written in his contract if they went down he could leave.

I think replays will be needed in the future and will make things better. But first, I want the rules to be absolutely 100% clear on as much as possible. The reason there is so much discussion on the decisions is due to the great inconsistencies that exist every single game. Would people stop going to games if they didn't have blatantly moronic refereeing mistakes to talk about?

As for the CL, I agree there are too many teams, but you could just rename it and bring back a third Euro comp. It's hardly a "Champions" League the way things are.

What are Platini's thoughts on a Euro League btw? Do we know?

They also mentioned expanding the European Championships to 24 teams...or at least looking into it...Id make that out to be a good idea.

As for everything else...

-taking out tackling...has to be a joke.

-CL Places...Im actually against it, Id rather see Lazio, Arsenal & Valencia than Dynamo Kiev, Spartak Moscow, and Standard Liege...but thats just me.

-4 linemen isnt too bad of an idea, Id just think itd take a while to get the kinks worked out, may be better with 2 refs and 2 linemen.

-instant replay shouldnt be in soccer because the game is fluid. The only time where it would make any sense is in a goal/no goal situation.

And since goals are usually very rare, its vital they get it right. Completely agree with MG.

Yep, he grates on me. As you say, he moans all the time about absolutely nothing. Tonight he's moaning about the referee asking for the ball to be put in the right spot. Give me John Murray any day. I'm sure he's got something on the head at Five Live - he commentates every single game (as long as it involves one of the big four, and usually at home).
