I wrote a paper this semester; it's not on-topic completely but I'll post it anyways. It's just two pages long, I'm sure most of ya can handle it.

If you can't, too bad!

You just proved my point precisely genius. You are one of the people who think women have to compete with men or it doesn't count. Thats your right but personally I don't see Jennie Finch or Lisa Fernandez as being any less of a great pitcher than Greg Maddux or somebody. They are as good at what they do as the guys are at what they do, bottom line!

The PGA is not a male only league. The same can be said for any of the major league sports. There are no rules that state women cannot play them. If there is a female player who feels that she can compete at the major league level (note that unlike you, I didn't say "with the boys") then by all means she should be allowed to compete. The Major Leagues are for the best of the best, and that means anyone.

Why should a woman be forced to play in a women's only league if her talent could place her on a bigger stage.

Time to wake up and enter the 21st century.
Yeah well you said it, if they qualify for the PGA let them play. However none of the women have qualified for the tour, they are playing on sponsors exeptions only.
Your the one who just said its not impressive enough for a woman to be the best in womens sports but I'm in the dark ages Time to take off the cape and quit reading the batman comics!

hahahaha... what is it like to be so wrong?

As for saying she should play in the majors as opposed to a girl's league - that is because the rewards are far greater in the majors than in the girl's league. Think about it genious... you can talk all you want about how much you respect a woman at the top of her game in a girl's league - talk is cheap, but the real rewards in sport come from playing in the highest echellon of sport. Everyone agrees that the MLB is the highest league for baseball - NOT the womens league as you would have us to believe. The competitive spirit will want to play in the highest league possible, and have a chance at the rewards and the glory that MLB offers.

*I* am placing all leagues on the same scale - *YOU* are separating them into a male and female scale...

What I said was that if a woman has the talent to play at the major league level, then why shouldn't she? I believe she should be allowed to play in any major league PROVIDED she can stick.

You are the one who would outlaw her immediately based on her sex, and go tell her to "keep her expectations real."

Should I be allowed to play in the WNBA? Or the LPGA?

No... because those leagues have rules specifically stating women only.

None of the major leagues have that rule.

Despite enormous evidence to the contrary, people still refuse to acknowledge the inherent physical differences between top male and female athletes. It's not sexist to say that a woman will never be good enough to play major league baseball, it's an assertion that's supported by easily quantifiable sports like golf or track and field.

As I mentioned above, when a woman can throw 90-95mph she'll probably get a pro contract.

Maybe women don't get to play up to their potential because of asshats that don't allow them to play? A girl might be good enough to be a running back for a football team, but what coach in their right mind is going to play a girl over the boy, hypothetically speaking? You probably won't find anybody that would. What coach is going to allow a girl to play shortstop for their varsity baseball team? Probably nobody...again. It's the shortcomings of others that limit women, perhaps? I dunno.

as I've stated several times if a woman has the talent and can earn and stick in the majors, then why should she not have the chance? If she can keep up and perform in any of the majors, then all the more power to her. We aren't discussing a free ride or wether or not we need female quotas or anything, we are talking about those women with the ability to play in major league sports.

Try reading and u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g my posts. Thanks!

I can't think of a current example of a man not allowing a woman qualifed-by-skill to compete in a sport because of her gender.

Perhaps your the one that needs to start reading as I never said women shouldn't be allowed to play mens sports. I said that women shouldn't have to play mens sports to be considered great athletes, and that people shouldn't try and push girls into guys sports just to prove some stupid point. And shoot me but I also said women can't compete at the pro level with men in contact sports.
You will never see a woman playing LB in the NFL, or winning 20 games in MLB, or playing in the NBA. And thats not a big deal, thats not putting women down its being real. Its science not sexism, you will never find a 250 lb woman who runs a 4.5 40, or a 6'8 crazy athletic, physical, womens bball player with a 40inch vertical, or a woman who throws a 90mph fastball. If they can do those things they will be playing. I never said don't let them play I said they'll never be able to. Its the truth, you can make whatever PC argument you want to make but you'll be wrong.

lol... your name suits you...

you flip-flop more than the liberals up here... and you pick sports you know would be extremely tough. Fact is that women will eventually crack the sports barrier in several sports. In all sports? No... I never said that, but you are good at putting words in people's mouths. As I stated, what, 4 TIMES NOW, if the woman has the TALENT to play, then she will. So why bring up example that SUPPORT MY POINT? You point out example where a woman probably couldn't play - great for you, but that doesn't disprove my argument because I've been saying that ALL ALONG. Again - if she has the talent to stick and play in any major league sport then she'll play. What is so hard to understand about that?

But whatever... this is pointless and I bore of the whole thing... I'm sure you'll find some other way to twist this around

EDIT: And my posts were never about being PC... it is about judging talent on the whole. Something you cannot do because you can't even get past physical differences.

Agreed. To prevent anyone with talent to perform said ability on sex/creed or colour would be backwards in thinking. This is the 21st century, is it not?

Why hasnt it happened? Probably due to a lack of a theatre to show said ability. When was the last time you saw anything above house league womens hardball (not softball)? Myself it's been never, although I"m a bad example as I havent seen a womans game in over a decade.

I'm not saying that this girl won't continue or anything like that, but just wait a few years for the guy's bodies to catch up with her development.

If you look at any sport where women train as hard as men, the #1 woman in the world can't even compete with the lowest ranked men. Track and field, tennis, and golf are prime examples of the relative athletic abilities of men and women. The 5000th fastest man in the world is faster than the fastest woman. Why? It's not because of training or because of inequal opportunity.

Jason, though, you do have a good point you can't honestly believe your statement to be entirely true, can you?

I remember a Billie Jean King and most recently (though not as great as Riggs losing) Candace Parker beating men at their game. I highly doubt that the best female couldn't compete with the lowest ranked male. That just isn't true.

It has to be obvious that if a women were given the opportunity to play baseball from a younger age and continue to do so through college that she would be better than some of the lower ranked men in MLB. Am I saying that she'll be able to throw a 95 mph fastball? Probably not. I tend to feel that a woman would crack the league as a second baseman. Regardless of that, however way a woman cracks the professional leagues, I believe it'll be done because she is better than some of the lower ranked players.

That's far from being obvious to me. I think a woman may eventually play in the minors, but I would guess that you're not going to see one good enough to play regualrly in the majors in our lifetimes. That, of course, doesn't mean there's not a future Bill Veeck out there to give one a few ABs for the publicity value.
