Not digging this list. The M's in the 80s were awful and the 80s roster ought to reflect that. I really, really don't know about putting Griffey on there, for instance, what with him being only associated with the team for a year in the 80s (and even that year being a 19-year-old Griffey who wasn't the same player we think of when we think of The Kid). Off the top of my head, here's what my team would be:
C - Dave Valle, Scott Bradley, Bob Kearney 1B - Alvin Davis 2B - Harold Reynolds, Julio Cruz 3B - Jimmy Presley SS - Spike Owen LF - Phil Bradley CF - Dave Henderson RF - Al Cowens, maybe Danny Tartabull if you don't associate him with Kansas City DH - Richie Zisk Other guys off the bench --------------- SS - Todd Cruz (only played a couple years, but was really well known while he was here) OF - Glen Wilson OF - Jay Buhner (he was here for 2 seasons) 2B - Harold Reynolds OF - Gorman Thomas, if he's not already associated with the Brewers Rotation --------------- Mark Langston Mike Moore Floyd Bannister Jim Beattie Mike Morgan Bullpen --------------- CL - Bill Caudill Ed Vande Berg Edwin Nunez Billy Swift Rick Honeycutt Quote:

Sid: The excercise here is not to get the players you would associate with the team but to choose the 25 best players... and then shuffle.
Thanks for pointing out Tartabull though, he was an oversight. |

3 players where protected by 5 teams... the most for any player.
I think they where Fred Lynn, Al Oliver and John Candelaria. 170 player in common where protected making the draft just over 6.5 rounds. I'm still working on the draft order. Last edited by railroad_ross; 01-11-2009 at 03:52 AM. |

I'm gonna catch hell for this one but it look like the Yankees will have the #1 overall selection. This is probably indicitive of the large number of free agents they sign and prospects they trade. Tigers and Cubs will also get high selections.
While poor teams and teams with low turnover like the Brewers, Rangers and Mariners will be picking pretty low. The average common protections was 16.5 per team. |

I'm happy with that - Toronto's outfield for the early 80's just got a huge bump in talent.
