I presume you're being sarcastic, but I think The Carlos Quentin has a legitimate shot at making the squad. Certainly deserves it if he keeps up his current pace. This trade may go down as one of the best trades KW ever pulled off.

Dude's tied (with Joe Crede) for the AL Home Run lead with 7, leads the AL with a 1.052 OPS, and is sporting a robust 181 OPS+.

Still, I think it's kinda funny/sad that Jerry Owens is on the ballot. Then again, the players on the ballots are decided on before the season starts, and at the time, Owens was slated to be the starting center fielder. Still kind of funny.

How many of his hits actually left the infield?

Agreed, I really like what I am seeing from Quentin. Hopefully he continues to be a pleasant surprise for this year.

yeah, the comment was very tongue in cheek, dudes. I'm all 4 Quentin on the AS team.
I heard a few "he sucks anyways" calls regarding Ramirez on the radio today when they were discussing that he wouldn't be making the trip to canada. Reinsdork, on "the biggest tool in chicago sports radio" Mike North's morning show today, said Kenny's bringing up a pitcher, but many are suggesting Fields will make his '08 debut in Toronto.

Oh, I know it was tongue in cheek Nobody could say that and actually mean it I do think Ramirez needs to go to AAA and learn how to swing at good pitches. He has spent way too much time watching Uribe.

I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say "he sucks". He's just not ready. Essentially, the Sox were expecting him to go from AA straight into the bigs, which rarely works out.

Well the first month of the season is in the books, and we are clinging to a 2 game lead in the division.

The good:

Carlos Quentin. This kid can play. He has exceeded most everyone's expectations, and with some defensive practice, should be a superstar.

The bad:

Our #3 and #4 hitters are awful. Mark Buehrle is really looking bad again. 38 hits in 28 innings says all you need to know.

The ugly:

Our entire offense. We are ranked (in the AL) #5 in runs scored, #14 in average, #7 in OBP, and #5 in OPS. Without our middle of the pack pitching, we should really be in last place.

Is it time to fire Greg Walker yet?

Dunno, I'm sick of hearing Greg Walker apologists coming up with every excuse and stumbling over themselves in the style of Reisndork this morning.
"Walker can't get up there and hit for them"
"These guys are experienced, they don't need a Greg Walker to tell them how to hit"
Those have got to be my unfavorites.
Hitting coaches have been fired for much much much less. We're talking OVER A SEASON of suckage with the white sox batting.

You forgot to mention that Danks and Floyd have really exceeded expectations thus far. A combined 4-3 with a 3.08 ERA. I'll take that kind of performance from the back end of the rotation every time. Contreras is looking better this year, too.

Thome, for all his struggles, is still posting an .855 OPS. Konerko's started worse (cough2005cough), I'm not too worried about him.

I'm looking at you, Juan Uribe.

It was last year, but the Sox remain bafflingly loyal to him.

Man, at least last year the Sox didn't get this depressing until later on.

Adam Russell didn't get into a game, and the Sox had to bat Pablo Ozuna in a high-leverage situation because they didn't have any other position players on the bench. Well done, gang!

Joe Cowley is reporting that one or two Sox (he specifically names Juan Uribe) may be sent packing today. Let the Jason Bourgeios era begin!

What's the over/under for the amount of obscenity-laced tirades that we will get from Ozzie Guillen for the rest of the season?

There's always the non-obscenity rant and blow up dolls to try and get cha out of a funk
White Sox Team Report - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Quote:
As if the slumping bats weren’t enough to give the White Sox headaches, their latest attempt at a slump-buster is now under scrutiny.
Before Sunday’s game with Toronto, an unnamed player positioned two nude female blow-up dolls in the clubhouse with bats from most of the players fanned out around them, almost resembling some voodoo ritual to get the club going, as well as loosen up a suddenly uptight clubhouse.
It was made into a big deal in several Toronto newspapers, and the Sox were feeling the backlash by Monday afternoon. If those offended were expecting an apology from manager Ozzie Guillen, however, well, they must not know the man very well.

“We have to keep those guys loose and have fun and forget about it,” Guillen said. “I think some take it the wrong way. I don’t think the players tried to disrespect anyone or make fun of anyone.
“I think 100 percent of the people in the clubhouse are 18 years old, and that’s a private thing. If the players do it in the dugout where everyone can see in public, or in the hotel lobby, we did it in our clubhouse, and a lot of things happen in the clubhouse. I don’t really know why people are making it a big deal. If people got their feelings hurt because of that… they don’t really know much about baseball.”
On Saturday, Sox players shaved the head of third-base coach Jeff Cox with the hope of turning things around. That obviously didn’t appease the hitting gods in the eyes of the players, hence “Blow-up Doll-Gate.”
“I don’t think they should make a big deal out of it because that’s our clubhouse and I don’t think there’s anything illegal there,” Guillen said. “I’m not going to apologize and not make the players apologize. It used to (be), whatever was in the clubhouse stayed in the clubhouse, and then all the (stuff) changed. But I don’t think we did anything wrong to make people upset.
“Those toys, don’t worry, we (still) got our (butt) kicked. Hopefully, we come up with something better. We don’t need dolls. We need hits. People get mad, hey.”
Guillen, who is no stranger to criticism, was asked if he felt the negative feedback was more because it was his clubhouse. After all, as Guillen put it, “I’m not a Jose Canseco, I’m not going to throw people under the bus, (but) I guarantee you (there has been) a blow-up doll before in the clubhouse.”

Hell, heck. The Sox finally put up some runs (7, almost equaling their total from the previous 6 games), and Gavin Floyd tosses 8 1/3 no-hit innings.

That's the second time this year Floyd has flirted with a no-no, he threw 7/13 no-hit innings against Detroit last month.

I caught the 9th inning, and he was snapping off some nasty curveballs. Odd, though, that he has a 1:1 BB:K ratio...about as unlikely of a no-hit pitcher as Buehrle was.
