Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

And he is pitching against Jeremy Sowers. I love Sowers. He's got a hell of a future ahead of him... but after his great year in '06, I just have this feeling he'll have a tough sophomore slump this year.

This feeling is now classified as peraltaphobia.

Not a good start. Unfortunately I can only watch the highlights (thanks MLB extra inning!), but from what I see, our pithing is horrible!

Im starting to get a bit nervous. I live in the Northeast, so I do get regional games, and although they only played the Orioles, the Twins look really good again.

And to make matters worse, just saw this on southside sox. Look at our payroll compared to the rest of the league!

Hah! Rangers payroll is only $1.5M higher than the Royals. Oh, wait, they're better than us right now.

I thought Grady Sizemore dropped your hearts in Kansas City.

Oof. Mark Buehrle was just knocked out of the game after getting hit on the pitching hand by a line drive. Hooray, more work for the bullpen!

Hopefully, Burls will be alright, as the last thing the Sox need now is to have a rotation of Contreras/Garland/Vazquez/Danks/Floyd.

:shudder:

Sometime I'd like to see a pitcher drop to the ground in fetal position after every pitch.

What was he doing sticking his hand out there?

Seriously, was he sticking his hand out? I'm listening to the game, so I haven't seen it.

Oh, I'm not watching it either. I am just trying to imagine it. :randy:

Well, here's the report:

Deep bruise to the left forearm, not the hand. He's listed as day-to-day.

"Aren't we all," says Ed Farmer.

Wow - the Sox win the game 4-3 when (former Sox closer) Roberto Hernandez clips A.J. Pierzynski's elbow with the bases loaded.

Yeah, it was an ugly way to get the first win, but I'll take it.

I think that Ozzie should have been over in the Cleveland clubhouse bowing down to Roberto for giving him his first win of the year.

Between Hernandez here, and Howry and Eyre for the Cubs, it wasn't a good day to be a former White Sox reliever.

As an interesting aside, Guillen and Hernandez were teammates with the Sox from 1991 until Hernandez was traded to San Francisco in the infamous "White Flag" trade of 1997 - you know, the one that was initiated because Reinsdorf was sure the Sox would never make up 6 games on...Cleveland! IT'S ALL COMING TOGETHER!

Shades of Homer Simpson!

By the way, just watching replays I cannot imagine how you guys listen to those announcers day in and day out. Good. Lord.

On another note, thank God for Nick Masset coming in and pitching a hell of a game in relief.

Sadly, Buehrle's 6.75 ERA is the best of any Sox starter so far this year, and the Sox starters combined for 7 2/3 innings during the series - although that was due in part to Buehrle's injury.

Yes, Masset was rock solid for you guys. My Tribe couldn't get anything going (aside from the Michaels blast). We get Buerhle out of the game and then get shut down by a guy who threw a lot of pitches 3 days ago.

If the rotation doesn't start eating more innings, we're going to have one dead-ass bullpen.

You can give danks to Jon Daniels for that acquisition.
