For people reading this who have never heard the band, the lead singer John K. Sansom did a song during some of the dark recent years that is very relevant to what we all do with OOTP every day, Fantasy Baseball at the End of the World.

The video has some nice old-time baseball animations and images of classic players, too.

Kevin, I'm also taking your post as an invitation to create more Weakerthans baseball fanart I do have more minor league teams to fill out. And I never finished a Winnipeg Pamphleteers 1919 throwback version, as though they were created if the Winnipeg General Strike had ended more successfully.

It's right there in the etymology section on Nicaragua: the country was supposedly named after an indigenous leader who the Spanish called "Nicarao", but who modern scholarship reveals was actually named Macuilmiquiztli.



(Citation: Sánchez, Edwin (16 September 2002). "No hubo Nicarao, todo es invento" [There was no Nicarao, it's all invented]. El Nuevo Diario)

Macuilmiquiztli is Nahautl for "five deaths".



I find this to be a perfect name for a baseball team. (If you think this is crazy, there are also five volcanoes on the country's flag)



As you can see, the Managua Five Deaths are up 5-0 in the first inning!



I made these scoreboards in inkscape, this might be the first logo here that I actually fully made, without any clip art, and I am very proud. The larger one is harder to see in the game, the one with just the game score is actually usable though. I also watched a tutorial to bring you this distressed version

Thanks for sharing the story of the logo... now that is how you design a perfect logo with historical and regional basis and reasons for its design and look... don't just choose so goofy nickname so you can sell merchandise.

May have to see if I can incorporate it in my ultimate, final and perfect dynasty report league.

Of course! I really think that song will resonate with a lot of people who play this game. Even after listening to that band for years (there are a bunch of Weakerthans songs about old hockey players, and even one about a curling tournament), I just felt so seen when I heard it

I started working on alternative versions of the Valour logo. If you'd like one with a different city or team name let me know (or with the American spelling Valor)

I just might take you up on that... I am planning my last, my final and my ultimate Dynasty League... just might use your Valour logos and colors... it would be a fictional town called Valour... I will have to come up with a good nickname to fit the Winnipeg region.

Don't do anything for me until I definitely include Velour in my final dynasty league... I don't want to waste your time.

There a long, long, longshot that I just might use your Eugene Churchmen, Eugene Pastors or Eugene Churchmen in my last and ultimate dynasty... yep, vanity may have crept into my EC's life.

Continuing with my Weakerthans fanart sideproject! Here we have a team based off their song Civil Twilight, sung by a bus driver navigating this ridiculous-looking intersection. I looked at a map and the direction wheree I placed that little stadium actually does correspond to the direction from that intersection to the Winnipeg Goldeyes' stadium. This could be an alternate identity for them. I'm using it for one of the Pamphleteers' rookie league teams.

From Skidegate, Haida Gwaii, "BC"*, this is the indigenous group credited with originating totem poles. This is the flag of the Haida Council, if they fielded a baseball team. (I got to reading about them when I was looking for a Northwest-Coast-Style Elephant for the Vancouver A's in another thread)

I put some glasses on this old Cubs logo so that it is clear that this is a spectacled bear it seemed necessary for the Cubs to have a minor league team in Andean Colombia. Paddington is from Peru, but they don't play baseball there- wouldn't have been plausible lol

I have modified the 1970s California Angels logos by adding Gustave Dore's very unhappy Lucifer from Paradise Lost. Lucifer has just realized they have really messed up. The team will finish 81-81 again and waste another year of Trout and the last year of Ohtani if they do not adopt this logo!



I also included a Mexican version if you would like the franchise to relocate or to have a minor league franchise in in Mexico.
