Perfect Team Update, Wednesday PM Report

My luck with Cleveland, at least, changed for the better as management intervened before midweek to try and stop the bleeding. We obtained two low-mid Diamonds - not to turn around our position currently - but to improve the team for next season after relegation.

Today, Gettysburg and Baltimore will look for mid-season improvements to try and insure their positions for the playoffs.

Gettysburg continues to hold on to 2nd Place and a Wildcard spot, and our hopes to see a Bullets/Barons series is still alive. OL record has improved to 14-12.

Cleveland (as mentioned above) is basking in a reprieve from extinction lol. OL record is 6-9.

Baltimore leads St186-NC West with a 47-36 record after a weak 13-15 June record. OL record is 14-20.

Ol r78

No OL games were played yesterday and only a few will possibly be played today (late tonight). Next Rookie update will be on Saturday.

Annandale still leading in Iron

Annandale came back to the pack slightly, but remains on top in OL I202. HelthWyzer and Lemp Ave. are in the chase, as are the lightly contested Inland Empire and Silly clubs.

A large portion of the OL is fighting for playoff spots. No one is currently in relegation.

The OL teams have really performed well Iron 202. Division leads in all the divisions they are part of several others in wildcard spots/contention. I do not think I have seen this level of success collectively for OL yet.

In Silver 278, Paxville and Texarkana have both been leading their divisions all season. So possibly they will get a chance to play in the postseason if all goes well.

Going to be a busy day for Cedar Rapids with 12 OL games in July.

UPDATE -Gettysburg didn't get any luck on opening 7 packs, but DID manage to sign CF Hack Wilson / Peak from achievement proceeds. Hopefully, this will be enough to insure their playoff goals.

UPDATE - Baltimore didn't get any luck on opening 7 packs either, and their options in the Auction House were limited due to a lesser balance of PPs. After a bit of head-scratching, however, management purchased RP Trevor Hoffman (94) to boost the Baron's bullpen.

Thus completes HRB's midweek adjustments.

Arrow Keystone Quiet In The Ranks

The Keystone Kops have been having a non-eventful week, so far, and currently have a 41-52 record.

The only excitement to come from their camp was back on June 21st when the team was awarded 800pp when David Justice's On-Base streak ended at 47 games.

Upper Management has opened a few packs (testing the waters), off and on, this week without landing anything news worthy. Based on their results, they have been instructed to sit and save the balance for tonight.

Between winning a few tournaments, completing a Gold Mission, and getting Drops from watching streams, the organization is looking forward to tonight's TWIPT show.

After the new cards are loaded up on the database, there are plans on opening all 40 remaining packs while the DRC show airs.

Hopefully the Card Pack Gods will be in a "giving" mood and will allow the team to claim several mission rewards that are very close to being completed!

To date, Keystone has had very poor overall pack luck in being awarded High Rated OL players. On the flip side, the team has landed a ton of Live players which is allowing for missions to be completed, "easier than normal".

Currently, Keystone has completed 45 missions and they have 18 missions that are very close to being completed for this PACK ONLY club:

11 missions in which 1 card is needed.
3 missions in which 2 cards are needed.
1 mission in which 3 cards are needed.
3 missions in which 4 cards are needed.

Cedar Rapids Still Rules in OL B235

Nothing changed in terms of the order of the leaders, but the Reds did strengthen their hold and will be tough to catch. Sorry for the missed day, had some stuff to attend to.

"So you bought me, eh?"

I took a breath, not gazing at his eyes. "Yes, I did. You are now mine for all eternity. And I must say you don't look bad for 58 years old." I paused for effect. "You realize that in this league I hired you for, that every season you will be the same player that you were during your peak years in the late 1980s. You are not really Eric Davis, you are just a facsimile thereof. And when you play ball, you will see lots of clones everywhere... clones of some of the best players in the history of baseball. And nobody will ever get injured, and there are no rainouts, and you will never age, but be like a 26-year old in perpetuity. Got it?"

Eric Davis took a deep gulp. He looked so "perfect" sitting there, I felt good about my purchase. His purchase means that Dykstra will be put into mothballs, only to be brought out for special occasions like maybe a low diamond tournament.

Then he met my gaze... "so am I a clone, too, then?" his voice faded off at the end as if he already knew the answer.

"Of course you are. Well.... clone might be the wrong word. Technically, you just exist as bits of 1s and 0s inside a computer. When somebody gets a new Eric Davis, all those 1s and 0s line up to be ... you. You are actually a "virtual" trading card."

I am not sure he understood the implications of what I was talking about and if he asked me if there was a "God" in this baseball simulation, I must admit I could not have given him a good answer.

He went in a different direction. "So, you said you 'bought' me, or at least my "best" or "peak" me." He puffed out his chest. "So, at least, I hope I was expensive. Was I?"

"Well... I am actually kind of surprised how cheaply some of these historical perfects --- which you are, by the way --- I am surprised at how much they have come down in price. I got you in a good deal in an auction that only I bid on, for just under 50,000 Perfect Points. I would have thought that a player such as yourself would have compelled a much higher price point --- your defense in CF is solid, and you have some base-stealing speed, you make good contact, have a lot of home run power. If only you struck out less you might have been out of my reach"

Please welcome the newest member of the Southpaw family, CF Eric Davis.
Eric meet the Southpaws General manager, Mr. Applegate.

Wonderful stuff.

Another week, another content stream, another round of pack opening.

The highlight of the week for Cedar Rapids took place a few days ago with the arrival of former Cardinal Frankie Frisch. Frisch took over 2B duties from Adam Kennedy. Kennedy was moved off the active roster, and his fate with the organization remains uncertain. Cedar Rapids also signed former Reds pitcher Pete Donohue, keeping with the growing red hat theme.

In other news Texarkana is the latest team faced with the question of deciding the fate of a recent arrival to the team. The evening saw the organization get the rights to outfielder Turkey Stearnes. Turkey is commanding good money in the auction house though, so they must decide whether to play him or send him on his way in exchange for a nice bump to the bank balance.

In league play Texarkana continues to hold a narrow division lead in the AC West, while Paxville continues to lead the NC Central by 14 games. It looks like Cedar Rapids will have an important 3 games series tomorrow when they travel to Cary, with a chance for Cary to catch Cedar Rapids if they stumble.

I was a little under the weather yesterday it may have been from getting my second vaccine but more than likely from checking in on my teams. Sugar Hill has barely clawed its way out of relegation but its still possible they go down. On the other side, while I didn't expect to Coney Island to challenge for a playoff spot I was hoping for a little better showing.

Based on my schedule tomorrow Saturday morning cards and coffee will have to be cards and cocktails tonight. Given the pack luck of the past couple of weeks it may be better this way.

Stone 186

The big story in Stone 186 generally has become the biggest story in OL play--the story of the "red hot" Red Sox. The league's hottest team (very good June at 19-6 and 19-5 in July!) became the hottest team in OL. The league leading Penguins stayed cool in the summer and did not have any OL July games so gave little chance for the Red Sox to gain ground. There are lots of OL games left on the schedule but the Red Sox will need help to overtake the Penguins. The Baltimore Barons returned to their winning ways as well with the New York Patriots hanging on above .500 play.

In non-OL play the Barons, Red Sox, and Penguins are solid division leaders with Gettysburg a solid wild card. No teams are set to be relegated if the season ended today.

Standings Shake-up in Rookie

Season-long leader Annandale had a rough month in OL and fell to third place. Rising to the top are co-leaders HelthWyzer and Boulder City, with the Atom Smashers percentage points behind.

OL teams are dominating the playoff positions. Socks Seybold (BCW+) and Enos Slaughter (ANN+) are in a tight race for league MVP, while the league Cy Young trophy appears to be headed to non-OL pitcher...Cy Young (WAR).

With 2/3rds of the season completed, it's becoming clearer where my HRB teams are headed.

Gettysburg Bullets - Stone to Iron
Currently holding a Wild Card spot at 62-44 - but in competition with a team that is not restricted by a F2P restrictions. That could pop a surprise on the Bullets at the last minute. In either case, the Bullets will likely be promoted to Iron. In the OL, the team is 15-17.

Cleveland Commodores - Bronze to Iron
In last place with a horrible 26-81 record, Cleveland will return to Iron next season. OL record is 11-18 (actually better than their overall effort).

Baltimore Barons - Stone to Iron
The Barons are in first place with a 64-44 record, leading their closest competitor by 13.5 games. In the OL the team is 19-21.

Although there are no OL awards to be earned, it is likely that all three HRB teams will find themselves in Iron Level next week. Whether they find themselves in the same league, however, is totally dependent on the execution of the friends list since it is not fixed yet.

PS: It is my understanding that the next patch will be next week, so we're into Sunday with a "roll the dice" OL team distribution.

Arrow 50+ Packs.....Where Are the OL Diamonds???

As was originally advertised, the Keystones ended up opening around 55 total packs with 5-6 of them being Gold.

As usual, the team collected several Live Diamond cards with the highest one being a 97 however, no where were any OL Diamond or Prefect cards to be found!

The highest rated OL card that we received, which came from a Gold pack, was a 89 Negro League C Buz Mackey who arrived with a catcher ability of 5 (on a 1-5 scale).

The addition of Mackey is a welcome sight as the Kops were struggling with maintaining a #2 catcher who could also hit the ball on a regular basis.

Buz was immediately rushed into service and as of print time, in 6 games had a slash line of .364/.417/.909

Will Mackey create enough "Buz" to rally the team from their current 50-59 record in which they are currently 15.5 games back?

Time will tell......

Well, the six games between Baltimore and Gettysburg came and went, and the Barons won four of them... but Gettysburg won the last two games at Baltimore's home park

With records of 72-46 and 70-50 these teams are fairly well matched. I hope they can meet each other again next season if they both make Iron Level.

We Bostonians may never see another headline this, so we're savoring it before the usual September swoon! We have signed a couple Red Sox players who might help us avoid autumnal doom. One is a shortstop named Nomar Garciaparra, the other a promising pitcher named Babe Ruth.

Our owner, however, needs cash to fund a Broadway musical, so we might have to sell one of those players on the auction house. What could possibly go wrong?

Cocktail and cards helped out the Warriors after a couple of dismal weeks of pack opening. While there have been many who have had much better pulls at least this will add to the war chest as I've been more frugal than Charles Comiskey in 1919.

Drew my third live perfect Giolito

Drew Live diamonds: Buxton, Flaherty and Strasberg

A diamond snapshot Johnny Allen

A build a legend Sandberg

A couple of live golds

All but Allen are heading to the auction house.
