Yeah. But remember, only the Sawx care about the rivalry.

I'm not a sox fan, but I'd think losing game 7 would be worse. If they beat the Yanks, they'll win the series over the Astros.

God I love Schilling. One more game to go baby. The only thing better than a game 7 Sox victory over the Yankees would be a Sox victory over the Yankees followed by winning the World Series over Roger Clemens. And the only thing better than that would be if Jeter somehow got poked in the eye in the process and was out of baseball forever. God I hate him.

Definitely the latter here. A) we didn't even make the WS with arguably the best Sox team of all time, B) to have come this close from so far back... and the long term implications of coming back from 3-0 against the YANKEES, and C) having to listen to their fans for another year...

I agree... I actually brought this up to all my friends last year when I heard him in the NLCS. He's got a new career waiting for him after he retires.

He's a welcome change from Bret Boone and his frosted tips of last year... let me tell you.

What an amazing, gutsy performance by Schilling tonight. If there was any question about his heart, that should have been answered tonight.

Schilling was the man tonight... But his post game comments... "God was on the mound with me..." or whatever it was he said... Yeah, sure, it was God. I'm sure the hardcore prescription painkiller injected directly into your ankle had nothing to do with it.

Still the man though... That ankle must be nasty...

Ctorg understands it. It wouldn't be heartbreaking enough to get swept into the night. Red Sox had to force a game 7 and they have to be leading tonight before the wheels fall off.

Though I will say they have seemed to be getting lucky. The Ground Rule Double in the late innings in Game 5. The stupid play by A-Rod last night. Maybe the curse has been reversed.

Red Sox fans. I just want to say that you are a truly worthy opponent and showed a lot of heart during the series. No matter which team wins tonight, it has been a great series to watch. Most teams would have quietly lied down after losing 3 straight, but the Sox fought back. Schilling had a superhuman performance yesterday. Of course I still hope the Yanks will win tonight, and I think that they will. Not sure why Boston would go with Lowe on 2 days rest, but I guess Brown isn't looking any better. Anyway, should be a great game tonight.

yeah, the latest is that Lowe will start. The only thing that's bad about this from a Sox point of view is now Varitek HAS to start. If you start Wakefield, you can start Mirabelli, then sub in Varitek as soon as Wake is out. If they need Wakefield, Varitek is forced to try to catch that dancing knuckleball.

I thought it might be because of that. Varitek doesn't exactly handle those knuckleballs very well.

I'm conflicted. Having grown up in New York (which is the only legitimate excuse), I'm programmed to be a Yankees fan. As such, it has been a cheap source of pleasure over the years to gloat over the woes of the Bosox. And having Boston lose in Game 7 would satisfy the traditionalist in me. But fighting back from being down 3-0 in the series counts for an awful lot in my book. And as the Rangers proved, no team can be a loser forever. [Except maybe the Cubs.] So this may be Boston's night. I can't say I'll be rooting for them. But a Boston win will certainly bring more happiness into the world than a Yankees win would. And that wouldn't be a terrible thing. Let's hope for a well-played game on both sides.

Well, if the plan is to give Lowe 3 innings or so, why not start Mirabelli? I'd rather take the offensive drop than the catcher's drops.
