I hope those who received little or no votes don't get discouraged and stop participating because I really like this competition. I hope to see at least 15 entries for the weeks to come.

All 15 entries are well done and look great. But one remark, or clarification, was this a contest to design a team logo or to design team logo/graphic for use in the game? There is a difference between a logo that is going to be viewed in large scale and a graphic for use in the game. It seems that the game graphic should clearly indicate the city name and team nick name with some type of representation in graphic form. In some the city game with a good grahic would seem to be enough, ie. Detroit with a large tiger head.

With that said although all 15 entries are artistic and could make good logos, not all make good game graphics. If the text on the logo looks great when it is 5in x 5in or larger, but you cant read in most game screens then it doesnt seem to fit the purpose of the contest. Its interesting to see the multiple concepts that designers came up with, and to see the different use of colors etc., we all have different tastes, no one of which is necessarily right or wrong, but the end result should mesh well with the game.

Logo 3 is a great design and it also looks good in the game with the text readable in both the team screen and game play screen.

My original rules said that all logos must be submitted in a 150x150 size, formatted for game use (no true black for example). I also said no elements of minor league baseball teams could be used but I do see at least one in there. I'm not going to harp too much or disqualify anyone out of the spirit of what we are trying to accomplish but in the next weekly contest we will emphasize these rules a bit more.

I did check things a little bit. I didn't try to verify whether or not there were any minor league logo elements used, simply because that would take ungodly amounts of time to research. I also didn't verify whether or not there was any true black used, but there were a couple that were submitted that I scaled down to 150x150, which wasn't a problem.

I do think that the best overall entry should be something that looks good in the game, simply because that is what everything is all about. This is a message board that supports OOTP, and this contest is a way to help out the community by providing a nice stock of varied logos for everyone to choose from.

I must say that it appears that the idea is a smashing success. Over 100 votes in 24 hours is quite impressive!

I think the use of true black will also have to be clarified. True black should not be used if it is part of the logo graphic, but it should be allowed if the purpose is to make that area transparent, ie instead of colored background the designer wants a geometric shape floating on the game skin.

Just thought I'd chime to say I voted and props to all of the designers. Definetly not an easy choice.

A small suggestion here. I wonder if all the logo makers can release some kind of logo templates that are without City names. This, we can also use the logos for other cities and not just restricted to Portland. Thanks!
I wish this was done for all logos, but unfortunately file size is an issue.

I know that when I design logos, I'll save a photoshop copy that is still editable so that I can go back in and edit the city name or nickname.

I guess I don't understand the file size issue that was brought up?

Where are you going to upload the photoshop templates to?

It may only matter to nmlegue and me...but if the city name or nickname is too small it will not show up on the game screens....#11 is well done...but Portland is too small to show up on the midsized screen I like Team Setup...or on the Main game scoreboard...It will look fine on the large screens like the Free Agents screen.

I only use logo that show up well in the game...I have seen many, many fine logos that I can't use because of this. That's why when I request a logo, I specify to make the lettering large enough to show up well on midsized screens in the game.

Okay. Don't want to miss anything here. Where will the official winning submission be announced/posted? And as of this moment, why is logo 3 in italics as if it were the current total leader? Isn't that what that usually represents?

Again, great job from everyone. Almost makes me want to try --- way way way in the future.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention an idea. An interesting format for this style of comparison contest voting - if there were a logistically simple way to implement it - would be to give every voter (for example) 5 place votes: 5 points for 1st place, 4 points for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, etc.... assigned to each place designation. It changes the distribution array slightly, but more clearly defines the inclinations. Food for thought.

I'd be willing to bet you voted for #3, didn't you?

I doubt it. I think I voted for Cuss's though. #14 would have been my second choice and although #1 is not getting many votes I really liked it too but unfortunately it's just too dark. I obviously like to see characters.

hehe hehe .... you'd win that bet, just marginally. But it was a legitimate poll charting question.
