I have tried to use the editor but the changes to the AS teams don't seem to take. I run it on the day before the game, save it, then sim that off day. The computer still picks its own team.

What am I doing wrong?

Well if running the Editor the day before doesn't work then maybe you should try running it on the day OF the All Star Game!

lol

btw...the computer picks will still show up in the League News, etc so if you want those gone you have to manually delete them.

Enjoy!

So... has anyone figured out how to fix this error?

I've already told Chris (I'm in the CBL which he commishes and I've been looking at trying to find a work-around to this problem) this, but for the rest of you, this is what I've found out about this problem..

When I've changed just the batters and none of the pitchers, it works fine, simming and playing. When I change even 1 pitcher, regardless of same role or handedness or not, it crashes when it tries to make the pitching substitution to the pitcher I replaced. I've tried a number of options of which pitcher to replace with which pitcher, but none have worked. I've even just switched MR for MR, it still crashes, though later, presumably when it's gone through the SPs and looking to for the MR I replaced.

I'm also using version 1.01. It may be some aspect of our league like 1 DH, 1 not, I don't know. To isolate the problem further, perhaps looking at our league in depth might help. The link is in my sig.

This sound like a problem you have with you files. Is anybody else had the same problem in another league?
Maybe if you try to clean all players first and than add them back.
I have no other idea.
Is the system giving you an error message?

Thanks for replying so quickly Pierre.

If you mean clear all the all-star teams in your editor (imo that's the fastest way to use the editor) and then add the players, yes, I did that too. No luck.

When the game goes to make a pitching change, the hard disk makes a whirring sound for several seconds and then the below window pops up and asks if I want to send an error report. Nothing else.

dola..

after clicking on the link in that popup I get the below popup. When I click the first link I get another popup with scrollable text that I cannot copy and goes far past what I could screen capture. Easiest way to see it is to use our current league file.

And if you simulate the game, I guess that everything is working fine?
Do you think it is the same problem as when the lineup is not complete for a team in a normal game?

If I simulate the entire ASG, it crashes. If I simulate inning by inning or by pressing continue, it will crash when the team that goes for a pitching change looks for a player that has been replaced with the editor. If I "play" (only substitutions human controlled) out the entire game it does work though! (Thanks for helping me figure this out as a possible option to give to Chris.)

I don't think so, though it may be similar. I am pretty certain it has to do with pitching substitutions when the computer controls the substitutions.

UPDATE:

I got it to work with a few adjustments. Below is part of my email to Chris:

Quote:
> So I can only use pitchers the game picked?

No, you can use all our all-stars.

The only thing is, like I said before, you have to change substitutions to
human controlled (others too if you want I guess, but I have not tested
them) and you will then have to move players around into lineups. My
recommended lineups that worked are attached. I "played" out (pressing the
1 key) the entire game like this making substitutions as I saw fit, and it
worked. I pitched the starters 2 IPs, the 2nd SPs another 2 innings, then
the other SPs 1 inning and the rest 1 inning, thinking that if it went to
extra innings, the RPs would be able to go a few innings at least. The
batters I started subbing around start of the 7th, but I doubt it makes much
difference when. I made strategic subs (instead of a pitcher batting) and
those worked too, but make sure you've redone the lineups so that you have
all positions including pitcher filled.

My game ended up 4-2 for the EL. It was pretty excitingly close the entire
game. Oh, and injured players, like Cohen, can play in the ASG. LOL, in
fact he was the player of the game!!

I'll also attach the box and log. I also have backups of the league before
any edits, with no all-stars, with all-stars before the game, and after the
game. The one linked above is the before the game one with edits.
If anyone is having problems like we had, I suggest trying the above.

And PLG, thank you so much for first, making this utility, and second, helping us work out our issues. You rock!

-sim up to the ASG day and close ootp
-open up star.exe
-click option|preferences
-use the browse (...) button to find your league's folder (e.g. E:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\CBL.lg)
-press save and then close
-click file|open and then ok
-select 1 of the all-star teams from the right drop down menu
-click on a player and drag him to the left column (this will remove that player)
-do this for every player (it's quickest this way, trust me)
-do this for the other all-star team
-select a team from the left drop down menu
-select the corresponding all-star team
-click on a player from the left column and drag to the right
-repeat for each all-star player
-click file|save
-click file|exit
-open ootp and run your ASG
-set both teams to human controlled substitutions and "play" out the entire game by pressing continue and making substitutions where fit

Perhaps something like this (you can use all or part of this if you want) could be added to the utility's zip.

EDIT: Added that last step as it does not seem to work without it.

I've never used this particular utility of Pierre's before, but I might have reason to do so soon. Does anyone know if it works with OOTP6?
