When you say you restored your computer, do you mean that you ran system restore or that you did an OS reinstall?

Hey, I'll say something about Viatech! Last month I suffered a hard drive crash and lost everything. When I finally got my CPU up and running again I called Viatech and explained what had happened. Not only did they resend my information via email but they also unlicensed my game so I didn't have to lose a license to the crash. All of this took a grand total of FIVE minutes. I have been buying OOTP pre-Viatech and have had exactly ZERO problems since my first purchase(OOTP2)!

There, you wanted someone to say something about Viatech, you got it! If you search the board you'll find that the people that have a problem with Viatech make up a very minute percentage of the OOTP(.400 Studios) community! I too was an E-License doubter but Viatech has me believing!

"how come nobody is saying anything about viatech"

viatech is mentioned in almost every post from Scott and Steve trying to help you.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

Sounds to me what happened is he ran the function that's in XP that allows you to go back to an older configuration because something that may have been installed is causing Windows not to work properly.

Although I haven't personally done it, my assumpion from the posts is that XP would have restored back to before OOTP was installed, and therefore he wouldn't have any of the files that were installed when he originally installed the program, since it was installed after the date that he went back to.

My suggestion would be to go to Viatech (or eLicense, whomever runs that type of thing) and give all the information you can to them. They should be able to get your information and send you out your number. I would think it'd be in your email too, but if it isn't, try working with them.

This doesn't appear to be an .400 Studios problem or a problem with the actual game itself, and should probably be directed to them.

What MrWorkrate said makes sense... and is what I was going to post.

Actually, that is why I asked him if he did a system restore or an OS reinstall. If he did a system restore it would not delete any files whatsoever. The operating system just would not know that the program was installed. If he looks in his OOTP5 folder there IS a receipt there with his order ID. Of course, if he did a reinstall and formatted his hard drive, then it isn't there, but I agree, it definitely sounds like he just did a system restore and seems to have listening issues.

Well here is a pretty quick way to find your receipt:

Use the search feature (if you are running WindowsXP). I can't recall what its called in prior OS's. Just click on your desktop and hit the F3 key.
Select "My Computer" and look for a file called receipt.txt.

And this will only work if you haven't done a complete OS reinstall.

And from the sounds of things either you incorrectly entered your e-mail or Yahoo! perhaps just bounced the email. The e-mail would of been sent to you instantly so in that case you would need to contact Via-Tech and verify they have the correct e-mail on file and request that they resend your order receipt via e-mail.

Didn't he say he did the system restore before he installed the game? That seems to me like it wouldn't delete something before it got there.....

Oh well, I give up. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do...

Man, all this effort in a dismal attempt to avoid paying $30? Wow. Talk about misplaced energy.

If you did a full reinstall on your computer then you will need to contact Via Tech to get your receipt.txt file sent to you. They will be able to verify your purchase and resend the receipt.txt file, as well as restore any licenses you may have lost when you did the reinstall.

At this point I'm closing the thread to stop the attacks on either side.. should you need further assistance, either PM me or email me at scott@400softwarestudios.com

EDIT - UPDATE:

This morning (7/2) I got the following message from rmillin11:

as for now i have the game working and i am going to see if i can get the historical teams.
So it looks like in the end a positive resolution came from this.
