First, let me take a moment to thank each one of you who have followed and supported Major Sim Baseball. Whether you’ve been here since the first pitch or just joined the journey, your enthusiasm and engagement mean the world to me. When I set out to bring MSB to life, I wanted to make sure that “they see what I see”—the passion, strategy, and drama that make this game so special. That’s why I took the time early in the season to introduce each team, highlight their strengths, and showcase the thrill of every game. Those opening weeks set the stage, and I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know the teams as much as I have. ________________________________________ Catching Up to the Schedule Now, as we look ahead, it’s time to pick up the pace. The early season allowed us to savor the details, but baseball is also about the grind of the long season—the streaks, slumps, and surprises that shape a pennant race. Over the next few days, we’ll be accelerating through the schedule, week by week, bringing us to the point just before the intensity of the pennant races begins. ________________________________________ What You Can Expect 1. Weekly Reports: Each week will be summarized with highlights, standout performances, and standings updates. Whether it’s a dominant pitching display or a game-changing home run, I’ll make sure the drama is captured in every recap. 2. The All-Star Break: The midseason classic is a chance to celebrate the league’s best players and enjoy some well-earned fun. The All-Star Game will be presented in full, along with the Home Run Derby and All-Star selections from each team. 3. Building the Anticipation: As we approach the pennant races, I’ll spotlight the storylines that have emerged during the season—teams battling for division leads, surprise contenders, and MVP-worthy performances. By the time we get to Week 17, you’ll feel the stakes as if you were sitting in the dugout. ________________________________________ Reliving the Journey The MSB forum has always been more than a place for updates—it’s a way to relive the seasons. It’s where we celebrate the great plays, debate the key moments, and connect over our shared love for baseball. I hope you’ll join me in continuing to make this community vibrant and welcoming. Thank you again for your support, and here’s to the road ahead! Let’s make this season one to remember. ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾ Visit the Major Sim Baseball StatsPlus Website Download the QuickStart File |

MSB Week 2 News
Week 1 Eastern and Western League Players of the Week: One of the league's most exciting young players, Danny Thompson of the Philadelphia Freedom earned himself Eastern League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 25-year-old shortstop had a lofty .556 average (10-for-18), collecting no home runs, 5 RBIs and 1 run scored. ⚾ There's no arguing that 37-year-old Roberto Clemente has paid his dues and this week he collected. The Phoenix Rattlers right fielder had one of the best weeks of his career and captured the Western League Player of the Week trophy. He hit .647 while collecting 11 hits in 17 at-bats, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Week 2 Eastern and Western League Players of the Week: A battle-tested Billy Williams declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old Indianapolis left fielder collected the Eastern League Player of the Week Award. He wrapped up the week with a .414 average, 12 hits in 29 at-bats, 5 home runs, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored. ⚾ Not every ball that came off Willie Stargell's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Dallas Wranglers. For his exploits, Stargell was named this week's Western League Player of the Week award. The Dallas first baseman put up 10 hits in 27 at-bats and 4 home runs while hitting .370 with 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored. ================================================== ================================================== ========================= MSB on StatsPlus | MSB on OOTP | MSB Quick Start | MSB Stat of the day | Sim Baseball Vision | MSB Real Time Sim | Action Baseball League |

MSB Week 3 and April 1972 News
Eastern League Player of the Week | Batter of the Month (April 1972) Pitcher of the Month | Rookie of the Month His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Tony Perez was rewarded with the Eastern League Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Indianapolis Racers first baseman hit .583 while collecting 14 hits in 24 at-bats, no home runs and 4 RBIs. This season in 20 games, Perez is batting .395 with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and has scored 11 times. ⚾ Billy Williams battered Eastern League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Major Sim Baseball long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 33-year-old Williams told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 20 games, Williams hit .346 with 7 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 16 runs. ⚾ Luis Tiant will be bringing April's Eastern League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Charlotte. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping. Tiant started 4 games, going 4-0 with 19 strikeouts in 34 innings as he compiled his 1.06 ERA. ⚾ The premier rookie has been named for April -- and the winner is Doc Medich. The Eastern League awarded the trophy to him today in a press conference. It was his remarkable 3-1 mark that brought the Chicago starter the Rookie of the Month award. Medich excelled last month with a 4.50 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 30 innings, fanned 20 and held opposing hitters to a .284 average. Western League Player of the Week | Batter of the Month (April 1972) Pitcher of the Month | Rookie of the Month One of the league's most exciting young players, Al Bumbry of the Seattle Cascades earned himself Western League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 25-year-old left fielder had a lofty .517 average (15-for-29), collecting no home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Bumbry is hitting .397 this season with no home runs, 9 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 29 hits in 73 at-bats. ⚾ Roberto Clemente of the Phoenix Rattlers said he feels just as good now as he did five or ten years ago in his career. That much seems obvious, as even at the age of 37, the right fielder put up a fantastic month and has been named the Western League Batter of the Month for April. On the month, Clemente batted .400, hit 5 home runs, drove in 13 runs, scored 13 times and compiled a .429 on-base percentage. ⚾ Don Sutton of the Rattlers bewildered opposing batters in April and was honored as the Western League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. The Phoenix starter sparkled last month with a 4-0 record and 0.75 ERA. He made 4 starts, tossed 36 innings and had 28 strikeouts. ⚾ Youngster Al Bumbry emerged as the latest Western League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Seattle deserved the honor, batting .397 with no home runs and 9 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Bumbry enjoy the limelight. ⚾⚾⚾ Next Update for May 1972... ⚾Play the NimBLe way! ================================================== ================================================== ========================= MSB on StatsPlus | MSB on OOTP | MSB Quick Start | MSB Stat of the day | Sim Baseball Vision | MSB Real Time Sim | Action Baseball League |

MSB May 1972 News
Eastern League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month At only 22 years of age, Dusty Baker could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Indianapolis Racers, as May was one to remember for the center fielder and he has captured the Eastern League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .386 with 6 home runs, 19 RBIs and 18 runs scored. In the 1972 season Baker is hitting .342 with 9 home runs. ⚾ Mike Cuellar really put his best foot forward in May with 4 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Eastern League. When he got the start for the Baltimore Admirals, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 46.2 innings of work, Cuellar limited opposing batters to 23 base hits and a .143 batting average. He notched 28 strikeouts, issued 8 walks and had a 0.96 ERA. This season, Cuellar has worked 73.2 innings with 42 strikeouts en route to a 6-3 record and a 2.20 ERA. ⚾ May's #1 rookie was pitcher Rick Reuschel of New York. He muzzled Eastern League hitters and held them in check all month long to capture the Rookie of the Month award. For the month of May the 23-year-old Reuschel recorded a 2-4 won-lost mark with a 2.68 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 57 innings. So far in 11 appearances this season, Reuschel has recorded 2 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 78.2 innings, yielded 76 hits, fanned 52 and has a 3.32 ERA. Western League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month Ron Blomberg made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Western League this past month. The San Francisco Seals right fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old hit .295 with 6 home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Blomberg is batting .315 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs this season. ⚾ A 5-1 record with a 1.38 ERA is a good month for most any pitcher. The Western League thought it was worthy of an award and named Don Sutton, starter for the Phoenix Rattlers, May's Pitcher of the Month. He also held the opposition to a .161 average while posting 32 strikeouts in 52 innings. On the season, Sutton has 9 wins and 1 loss and a 1.12 ERA. ⚾ Monty Montgomery, the Las Vegas starter, is the latest Western League Rookie of the Month award winner. League officials made that announcement today. In May he started 5 games with a 3-1 record, a 1.19 ERA, and 14 strikeouts in 37.2 innings. In 10 starts this season, Montgomery has notched a 4-4 record and a 2.94 ERA. ⚾⚾⚾ Next Update for June 1972... MSB June 1972 News
Eastern League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month Reggie Smith battered Eastern League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Major Sim Baseball long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Smith told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 25 games, Smith hit .298 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 15 runs. This year, Smith is batting .264 with 14 home runs. ⚾ The premier pitcher this past month in the Eastern League was Jon Matlack of the Charlotte Monarchs. He was one mighty tough pitcher, finishing June with a sensational 5-0 record and a 1.09 ERA. The Monarchs star made 6 starts and surrendered 41 hits in 49.2 innings. He struck out 36 and walked 12. For this year, Matlack has chalked up 11 wins and 2 losses in 17 starts with 98 strikeouts in 136.2 innings and a 2.24 ERA. ⚾ A standout performance in June earned Rick Reuschel the Rookie of the Month Award in the Eastern League. When his name was penciled in to start by the New York skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month of June the 23-year-old Reuschel recorded a 5-0 won-lost mark with a 1.37 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. To this point in the season, Reuschel shows a 7-5 record, 16 starts, 118 innings, 74 strikeouts and a 2.67 ERA. Western League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month Denver Gold fans believe they've got a talented young star in Cesar Cedeno. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .426 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and 18 runs scored. The end result was the center fielder being named the Western League Batter of the Month. Thus far this season, Cedeno has hit .311 with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 48 times. ⚾ Don Gullett will be bringing June's Western League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Houston. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping. Gullett started 6 games, going 5-1 with 24 strikeouts in 48.1 innings as he compiled his 1.30 ERA. On his stats sheet this season, Gullett shows a 11-3 record, 16 starts, 124.1 innings, 76 strikeouts and a 1.66 ERA. ⚾ Youngster Al Bumbry emerged as the latest Western League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Seattle deserved the honor, batting .324 with 2 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Bumbry enjoy the limelight. This year, Bumbry has hit 4 home runs and posted a .346 batting average. ⚾⚾⚾ Next Update for July 1972 Including the mid-season classic inaugural MSB All-Star Game... Both leagues showcased the depth of their talent, with pitchers dominating early before the bats came alive in the middle innings. The Eastern League struck first in the 2nd inning, as Joe Ferguson’s sharp single and aggressive baserunning set the stage for Chris Speier to bring in the game’s opening run. The Western League responded in the 3rd, with Nate Colbert singling and scoring on Dave Concepcion’s clutch groundball to tie the game at 1-1. Momentum shifted to the Western League in the 4th inning when Bobby Murcer launched a towering solo home run to right field, but the Eastern League fought back with a big inning in the bottom of the 3rd, highlighted by Dusty Baker’s double and Billy Williams’ scorching 2-run double that gave them a 3-1 lead. The game continued to ebb and flow, with the Western League pulling ahead 5-3 in the top of the 7th on an unlikely 2-run home run by pitcher Terry Forster, stunning the crowd and energizing his team. The Eastern League, however, refused to back down. In the bottom of the 7th, Al Oliver crushed a 2-run home run to tie the game at 5-5, setting the stage for the game’s decisive moment in the 8th inning. After Pete Rose singled to lead off, Ted Simmons blasted a dramatic 2-run home run deep into the Chicago night, giving the Eastern League a 7-5 advantage. The Western League made one final push in the 9th, loading the bases and scoring a run on Billy North’s walk, but Sam McDowell closed the door, striking out Johnny Briggs to secure the victory. Key performances included Ted Simmons’ game-winning homer, Terry Forster’s shocking offensive contribution, and Bobby Murcer’s steady production at the plate. The pitching staff for both teams delivered under pressure, with standout performances by Gaylord Perry and Rollie Fingers for the Eastern League and Elias Sosa for the Western League. The defensive play of Dave Concepcion and Chris Speier added to the game’s intensity, as both shortstops converted critical outs. The final score, 7-6 in favor of the Eastern League, marked an exciting beginning for Major Sim Baseball’s All-Star tradition, leaving fans eager for what’s to come. ⚾⚾⚾ Included below are the final voting results for the Eastern League All-Stars. MSB August 1972
See the month of August 1972 unfold on Sim Baseball Vision Live As September dawns and the shadows lengthen on Major Sim Baseball’s inaugural season, the league stands poised on the precipice of history. ⚾The North East Region (Eastern League Northern Division) is a tense chess match, with Indianapolis clinging to a razor-thin lead over New York, their consistency at home keeping them afloat. But don’t sleep on Philadelphia, a team that’s shown flashes of resilience in extra innings, while Chicago and Boston play spoiler roles, each with their own streaky tendencies. ⚾In the South East Region (Eastern League Southern Division), Charlotte reigns supreme, their steady hand and balanced roster putting them on a clear path to October, but Baltimore and a surging Miami squad aren’t far behind. Miami, in particular, has the momentum, riding a four-game win streak like a wave into September’s high-stakes drama. ⚾Out west, Seattle has emerged as the class of the North West Region (Western League Northern Division). Their +109 run differential tells a story of dominance, but San Francisco isn’t backing down, lurking just four games behind. Meanwhile, Salt Lake City and Denver cling to fading hopes, needing nothing short of a September miracle to enter the pennant picture. ⚾And in the South West Region (Western League Southern Division), it’s a three-horse race. Los Angeles, Dallas, and Houston are locked in a captivating duel, each team trading punches like heavyweight contenders. Houston, though, will need to shake off their recent slump if they hope to keep pace with a Los Angeles squad that thrives under pressure. September promises to bring fireworks, heartbreak, and triumph, as teams fight for division crowns and wild dreams of a World Sim Championship. It’s a perfect storm of baseball, where every game counts and heroes are made. ⚾Play the NimBLe way! ================================================== ================================================== ========================= MSB on StatsPlus | MSB on OOTP | MSB Quick Start | MSB Stat of the day | Sim Baseball Vision | MSB Real Time Sim | Action Baseball League |

As the inaugural season of Major Sim Baseball barrels into the home stretch, the league’s first-ever pennant races promise to deliver drama worthy of the game. The Seattle Cascades, with their potent mix of power and pitching, have turned the North West Region into their personal stage. Their commanding 85.9% playoff probability has them on the brink of clinching a postseason berth, but as any seasoned fan knows, nothing is guaranteed in the chaos of September baseball. Over in the Eastern League, the Charlotte Monarchs are holding court, their consistency and resolve keeping them atop the South East Region. With a 54.3% chance to claim the division crown, the Monarchs remain a team to watch, though the competition is anything but forgiving. In the North East, The Indianapolis Racers find themselves locked in a dogfight; their playoff hopes buoyed by flashes of brilliance yet tempered by inconsistency. In the South West, the Los Angeles Stars have emerged as true contenders, showcasing the resilience and talent needed to stay alive in a tightly contested race. And then there’s the Baltimore Admirals, the scrappy underdogs of the South East Region. With just a 42.5% chance to make the postseason, they are the epitome of grit and determination. Baltimore's resilience has carried them through rough waters before, and their fans believe this team can rise to the occasion once more. Across the league, the tension is palpable. Each pitch feels heavier, each swing more consequential, and every game more pivotal. Eastern League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month On the heels of a very productive August, Willie McCovey received Eastern League Batter of the Month recognition today. The battle-tested first baseman hit .261 for the Philadelphia Freedom and racked up 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored. This season, McCovey is hitting .213 with 88 hits, 28 home runs, 74 RBIs, scored 61 runs and played in 125 games. ⚾ When Steve Carlton takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Baltimore victory. At least that's the way it was in August. He excelled with a 5-0 mark and a 1.75 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 51.1 innings, fanned 43, and held enemy hitters to a .171 average. That's why the Admirals star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Eastern League. This year, Carlton has a 18-4 record with a 1.55 ERA in 27 starts. ⚾ Youngster Johnny Grubb emerged as the latest Eastern League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Chicago deserved the honor, batting .345 with 3 home runs and 15 RBI. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Grubb enjoy the limelight. So far this season, Grubb is hitting .290 with 12 home runs, 64 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 137 hits in 472 at-bats and a .347 OBP. Western League Batter of the Month | Pitcher of the Month Rookie of the Month Denver Gold fans believe they've got a talented young star in Cesar Cedeno. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in August, as he hit .375 with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. The end result was the center fielder being named the Western League Batter of the Month. So far this season, Cedeno has 20 home runs and a .313 batting average. ⚾ When Tom Bradley takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the Los Angeles Stars. At least that's the way it was in August. He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 1.13 ERA in 6 starts. In 47.2 innings, he fanned 28 and walked 11. That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Western League. So far this season, Bradley has a 11-7 record with a 2.00 ERA. ⚾ The #1 rookie has been named for August -- and the winner is Elias Sosa. The Western League presented the trophy to him today in a press conference. It was his standout 2-0 record that brought the Salt Lake City starter the Rookie of the Month award. Sosa excelled last month with a 0.00 ERA in 0 starts, tossed 17 innings, fanned 10 and held hitters who faced him to a .222 average. This season, Elias Sosa has made 50 relief appearances, saving 6. His record is 5-3 with 60 strikeouts in 72.1 innings and a 1.24 ERA. ⚾⚾⚾ Next Update for September 1972 Part 1 Weeks 21 - 23 ... MSB September 1972
See the month of September 1972 unfold on Sim Baseball Vision Live The calendar has flipped to October, and with just eight days remaining in the inaugural season of Major Sim Baseball, the race to the postseason is reaching a crescendo... Every region has its own story, its own heroes, and its own heartbreaks waiting to unfold as teams fight for the right to etch their names into history. This is what baseball is all about—moments that define careers, cities, and legacies. In the North East Region, the Indianapolis Racers are clinging to their slim lead, desperate to fend off challengers as their once-comfortable cushion has all but evaporated. The New York Titans and Philadelphia Freedom are not far behind, with both teams looking to capitalize on any misstep. The Boston Corsairs, who have caught fire at just the right time, remain in the hunt, hoping to complete an improbable comeback in the season’s dying days. The South East Region tells the tale of two titans. The Charlotte Monarchs have held the top spot for most of the season, their consistency and balanced play setting the standard. But the Baltimore Admirals, powered by a league-leading run differential and a late-season surge, are just 3.5 games back, eager to pull off a dramatic upset. For the Miami Flamingos and Nashville Sound, the playoff ship may have sailed, but they’ll look to play spoiler in a final push for respect. Over in the North West Region, the drama is at its peak. The Seattle Cascades lead the charge with their lethal combination of offense and pitching, but the San Francisco Seals, just 1.5 games back, are making one last push. These two clubs are on a collision course, and with so little room for error, every game could determine the region champion. For the Salt Lake City Yetis and Denver Gold, the focus has shifted to finishing strong and laying groundwork for next year. The South West Region might just be the most thrilling of all. The Houston Oilers and Los Angeles Stars are in a dead heat, with just 1.5 games separating them and a direct showdown looming. The Dallas Wranglers remain within striking distance at 3.5 games back, and the Phoenix Rattlers, despite their long odds, still have a faint glimmer of hope. For the Las Vegas Vipers, their season will end without postseason glory, but their role as spoilers in these final games could prove pivotal. The stakes have never been higher, and the clock is ticking. Every inning, every at-bat, every pitch carries the weight of a season on its shoulders. The margin for error is gone; the time for heroes is now. For fans, Sim Baseball Vision is your window into the action. Watch the final week of games live, where history will be made, and careers will be defined. With expert commentary and the intensity of playoff-like atmospheres, there’s no better way to experience the drama of Major Sim Baseball as the inaugural season races toward its thrilling conclusion. ⚾Play the NimBLe way! ================================================== ================================================== ================================ MSB on StatsPlus | MSB on OOTP | MSB Quick Start | MSB Stat of the day | Sim Baseball Vision | MSB Real Time Sim | Action Baseball League | The ABL Last edited by ZapMast; 01-18-2025 at 07:13 AM. |

Yastrzemski's current batting average stands at .287 and he has chalked up 20 home runs and 87 RBIs. ⚾ Nolan Ryan's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. MSB 1972 Regular Season Final Standings
1972 Batting Champions For Al Oliver of the New York Titans, 1972 was a very good year. Oliver nabbed the Eastern League batting championship with a .330 average. On the season, the 25-year-old center fielder registered 204 hits, 82 runs, 37 doubles, 9 triples, 21 home runs and 81 RBIs. ⚾ When it came to batting average, no one hit better than Al Bumbry of the Seattle Cascades this season. The 25-year-old hitting star topped the Western League with a .322 batting average, registering 193 hits in 600 at-bats. The talented left fielder hit 12 home runs and drove in 69 runs. Bumbry played in 160 games and also collected 25 doubles, 11 triples and scored 93 times. ⚾⚾⚾ Happy days are here for the playoff-bound teams. The Major Sim Baseball regular season is over and the playoffs will soon get under way to determine the league's best team for 1972. The clubs are planning their lineups and pitching rotations, going over scouting reports, trying to glean bits of information that might give them the edge. Nothing is seemingly left to chance. It takes a lot of talent and sometimes a little luck to bring home the World Sim trophy. From spring training to the last out of the regular season, it has been the goal of every GM, team, manager and player to reach the Major Sim Baseball playoffs. They all aspire to win baseball's Holy Grail, the World Sim title. Now, for the elite teams, the first steps of that journey begin in earnest with the League Championship Sim starting today. The opening playoff series will pit these teams against one another: Eastern League Championship Sim (ELCS) Indianapolis Racers vs Charlotte Monarchs and Western League Championship Sim (WLCS) "Dub LCS" Houston Oilers vs Seattle Cascades.
