Eugene Churches
This replaces the minor league team Eugene Emeralds, which is a great name, but I don't like their angry logo. Used Cardinals colors, just a guess

also thanks for an early birthday card for me, too, sorta... EC will be 83 in April... hope the Good Lord will get me there and a few days after that, too. Like that bat on top of the church... creative. methinks the green fits the area better, I think... sorry, St. Louis Cardinals for not choosing your colors... I'm a big fan of the team colors and logo designs representing the geography and history of a town... also prefer traditional nicknames... not the weird ones many minor league teams are currently coming up with. I didn't want to ask... but actually I did want to ask. I'll make an "est 1940" version later today
![]() I picked the Cardinals colors because of your great Stan Musial avatar, but I agree, it's probably better with the existing colors. Traditional and non-traditional names... I like a mix of both. And as for weird names.. probably like everyone else, I like the weird names that I come up with, and a few of the others. I doubt that many people are going to use the things I make. But I do hope that the Eugene Churches might show up in a league or two ![]() |

Yep, Stan the Man was quite a player... and quite a guy, too... very much loved in St. Louis... one year he gave the Cardinals back 20% of his $100,000 salary... he didn't think he had a good enough year to earn his pay. Yep, I'm a traditionalist as far as logos, jerseys and nicknames, but I believe it's fine to do it your way. We all "travel to the beat of a different drum" and "beauty is the eye of the beholder". Thank you for thinking of me on my birthday... Eugene Churches is fine... and flattering, but to be honest, I wouldn't use it... sorry... but I appreciate you doing it for me. But I think CD would use it if you make it Eugene Pastors or Eugene Churchmen... he might even use Eugene Saints. Last edited by Eugene Church; 01-23-2023 at 03:51 PM. |

Eugene Pastors/ Eugene Churchmen
Churchmen really is a great name for a team.
the font is called 56th street, free for personal use Quote:
You know, we're actually the same age, in terms of playing simulated baseball on the internet. I'm going by the date it says you joined this message board, 2002! That would have been around the time I remember having a very awkward conversation with my dad to convince him to pay for a subscription service where you could play simulated seasons with teams you built out of individual player years from any time period in baseball history. (I guess it was probably like perfect team, I don't remember the name of the site now). Then for years I played simdynasty, and then a site called csfbl. I wish I had found ootp sooner (2017) and that I had started writing to myself about my teams (2020). And that I had started making logos sooner! I made all of these in gimp. If you had told me I would be able to do this a few months ago, I wouldn't have believed you. I feel like you could do it too ![]() Last edited by 20_range; 01-23-2023 at 09:13 PM. I have checked out videos to learn GIMP, but so far, it's just too much of a learning curve for a computer-challenged guy like me.
I would love to be able to do personal requests for the OOTP Community... not many people are doing requests anymore... I would like to repay the Community for all the great graphics they have done for me over the years. I can do average logos, jerseys and caps using justafan's fine software, but it's not something that most people will use.... I have to use GIMP or some other software to get up in class so people will like it. |

Al Pastor de Puebla Club de Beisbol
I just... it's just what I thought of first when you asked for a pastors baseball team. Color codes from the flag of Lebanon

Rochester Zizes / Rochester Red Wings
This completes the set of Washington Leviathans minor league teams. The Rochester Red Wings perfectly slide into their new identity: The Rochester Zizes.
The Ziz is the air equivalent of the land Behemoth and the water Leviathan! I did not know this. There is no plural mentioned in the article, it could have been Ziz or Zizi, I suppose, alternately. I also included a throwback logo for the Red Wings, using their current wordmark. I hate how many teams have a cool name and a fun cartoon animal or concept, but then it's angry and aggressive. Even the Savannah Bananas, the banana is grimacing and threatening. All of the versions have a white outline that is borrowed from the Red Wing's logo, which doesn't show up on this board I think the Ziz illustration is friendlier than the current logo. You will note that it has red wings. ![]() Last edited by 20_range; 01-28-2023 at 08:20 PM. |

Rochester Ziz
Here is the version if you think the correct plural of Ziz should be Ziz, or if the baseball team actually represents the singular "giant celestial rooster"

Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants
This is pretty straightforwardly taken from Thunder Bay's flag. If the colors are kind of Sesame Street, well, the flag was designed around the same time. I'm pretty happy with this as a name for a minor league club.

Whenever I see a pic of Stan Musial, I think of EC. Both great men.
And 83? WOW! I can only hope to live to 83. My goal is to be able to see Haley's comet. ( Missed it the first time it visited in my lifetime) Last edited by rocknfire7; 02-04-2023 at 02:35 PM. |

EC is not in his class... just a fairly good ole guy... that's all. Thanks for thinking it anyway, rocknfire7. |

Duluth Black Freighters
And here is your Bob Dylan/ Kurt Weill/ Nina Simone/ Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald/ Alan Moore minor league baseball team from the Twin Ports, Duluth MN and Superior WI, the Black Freighters There is a main version, a sillier version using the mist filter, and a non-city version, in case you would like the (possibly ghostly) pirates to be righteously attacking a different dockside city. I couldn't decide whether the ship (the black freighter) should have a red flag or a black flag, so I made both. The Double-A team of Winnipeg in my save, this could easily be a Pirates minor league team as well. ![]() Last edited by 20_range; 02-06-2023 at 10:15 PM. |

For people reading this who have never heard the band, the lead singer John K. Sansom did a song during some of the dark recent years that is very relevant to what we all do with OOTP every day, Fantasy Baseball at the End of the World. The video has some nice old-time baseball animations and images of classic players, too. Kevin, I'm also taking your post as an invitation to create more Weakerthans baseball fanart ![]() |
