Might just be me, but I've drawn a fair number of non-live silvers recently that currently have no missions attached. Are those new(ish) releases? Anything actually useful, of course, such as those in the Prime Performers missions, refuses to appear amidst a sea of insta-sale live silvers.

On the perfect cards, TBH I would just like to see the numbers substantially reduced to just the absolute elite players, whenever they are introduced, and the emphasis put back on mid and high 90's cards so they remain viable options right up to Perfect. Tiers of perfect cards would therefore be unnecessary. There are actually a few very good cards hidden in the 96-99 range, but few use them; they just get lost in the 100 crowd. Most of current '100' cards should have been in that range.

For example, in April perfects should have been limited to maybe a dozen Legends cards for drops, and Paige, Charleston and Robinson as mission rewards. Subsequent releases could then have been restricted to multi-mission toppers and big tourney rewards, and not given as Franchise Hero rewards, etc. Note that would also ensure they REMAIN SELLABLE. If anything really annoys me about dozens of un-playable 'perfect' cards, it's that I'm stuck with most of them. Or, in other words, missions yielding perfect cards should never require locking another perfect card.

6) Re-jig tournaments somehow. For example, get rid of the 150 PP tournies, they're just not worth it and most don't bother playing them anymore.
I suspect they are there just to let new players dip their feet, but they won't do that if they never fill. I agree the reward needs to be significantly higher, but it also needs to be low enough to discourage experienced players from spamming them as once filled they conclude very quickly. Maybe one SP for a win, 500PP for second?

IMHO, the most work is needed on the diamond tourneys in balancing rewards with levels of participation.

The difference is that, in Vegas, both the high-rollers and the chumps know the conditions and odds according to which they are playing, at least if they take the trouble to find out or calculate them. Such 'bonuses' are not made known to the general PT player population who are therefore playing (and sometimes paying) unaware that the game is, in effect, rigged. All the blurb completely fails to mention this.

The solution, of course, is obvious because it is exactly the same one as in your analogy. Give them their own table.

Oh... and another for your list. FFS, OOTP, release some more of the diamonds required for missions. I'm currently stuck in multiple places because there is 'no auction available' for any of the cards I need every time I look which, out of frustration, is something which I'm doing increasingly rarely. I get the whole supply and demand thing, and folks are quite entitled to charge premium prices, but even that requires the cards to be in circulation in the first place.

There is something wrong when I'm drawing the same live diamonds again and again, but to date have got precisely two drops of any of those those needed for the BaL missions. If they are all locked down, more (within reason) should be released. It must be driving newer players nuts.

Not sure there any that strictly require it, but it is certainly helpful to have the option. Often, a perfect card worth 100 points is cheaper than 2 diamonds that don't total 100. In the NL mission you can get Torriente (100) and Cool Papa (99) and get Charleston with just those two for a complete OF (at least good enough for gold). My alt was lucky to pull Roger Clemens (100) making it easy for my alt to get Smoltz by locking Clemens.

Regarding drops I think you are probably right; I can't recall one. I was thinking more about earlier reward cards locked by FH1 and FH2.

Now that you put it that way, I notice that I locked up Tim Raines on my alt for a pitiful reward. It's OK if you're completing all the missions, but on my alt -- no way, but it's too late now. Luckily, I'm happy with Tim Raines on that team, so no real harm done.

Part of the balancing act is figuring out the right pack pull ratios. If the 100 rating is reserved for truly elite cards, then the pulls would need to be less than 1:1000 to keep them rare. This would trickle down to the Diamond and other levels if the OVR ratings are adjusted downwards.

You have got 1/2 of the equation and Herston has the other half. The pack-pull ration, even as it is, would work fine if there were fewer 100 cards to begin with. 100s should be not only the "best" players (and I say that knowing OVR is a non-perfect rating before I get jumped on) they should be the RAREST. The "bulge" in card numbers (as the year progresses and OOTP has to release new cards to keep people interested) should be in the Diamond range.

I would much rather have a deluge of Diamonds numbered 90-99 and few 100s than 8 million 100s when some Diamonds are STILL better.

100s should be the best - period (kind of like hitting-the-jackpot card).

I don't remember the pull ratios being changed when the 100's were devalued between 20 and 21, and seemingly again between 21 and 22.

In 20 there were hardly any unplayable historic perfect cards.

They may have found that 1:1000 resulted in too many elite cards in circulation for PT20. You could either dilute the true value of 100 cards so that the truly elite ones come up less frequently or you could alter the pull odds. I expect they took the first route so that the rush of seeing that perfect pull didn’t become depressingly rare.

Quests

We have missions for card collections, and achievements to award perfect points for actual baseball achievements. These achievements can't actually be planned for, they simply are serendipituous.

So with a nod to all the non-baseball fan types PT is attracting to the game, let's have quests!

A quest would be something non-card related that you can set out to do--perhaps even over multiple seasons.

Examples could be:

1. Do not use an opener all season.
2. Do not use a left-handed starter all season.
3. Have all switch-hitters on your team.
4. Do not use Starters as relievers.
5. Have no position player start more than 145 games.
6. Have 3 different catchers start at least 25 games.

This is mostly feedback for the devs.

For me, three things have caused me to go from keeping tabs on things all day, every day, to logging in every few days just to check for something interesting.

1. As some have alluded to, too many 100s, especially fake 100s. It's clear there are cards that are really 100s, some that should be diamonds, some 105s, some 110s, etc. and it wears me out seeing nothing but perfect cards on every roster but knowing there are HUGE differences between cards, and teams.

I know the idea has been to keep releasing better cards as the weeks progress to keep carrots out there, but there's as much difference now between (mostly) early 100s and (mostly) later ones as between early perfects and golds, maybe silvers. That's nonsensical.

2. The missions that force us to lock good, expensive cards to get lesser cards for future missions. I'm sick of spending big points on useless cards to get useless cards just because I'll need them for a later mission to get the card(s) I really want.

I've spent the whole summer waiting for Clemente, who will apparently be FH#3 for Pittsburgh, but it's caused me to either lock cards I couldn't care less about or, even worse…

3. I can't complete missions I need to complete to get even one big card I've been waiting for (or will need to get it when it comes out) because they're all being hoarded, or everyone has locked them, and there are NONE in the auction house. It's insane to find it impossible to complete required missions because the cards literally can't be found.

There's two ways to fix this:

A) Change the drop rate to account for the requirements for locking cards. Any cards that are in chain missions and must be locked to complete them need to drop in packs at a MUCH higher rate than non-mission cards.

B) Revamp the auction house to make every card available all the time at a fixed price. Have a "Card Store" to make sure every card can be bought at a price commensurate with its rating (which should be adjusted per No. 1 above, or if you demand to have dozens of unequal "Perfect" cards, let these prices reflect their relative values).

I'm sitting on 300k+ points and it's clear to me now that doesn't matter - I still won't get the card(s) I've waited for all summer, which has removed the fun and killed my interest.

Maybe next year gets better. There should be a lot to learn from this year.

What keeps ticking me off is every year, it becomes more and more apparent that the development team thinks every player born after 1970 sucks. Best example? Alex Rodriguez.

Hey, ya know devs, PEDs or not, he finished his career with career .296 average, and his 162 line is 41 bombs. How...explain this, please....HOW....does his career stats, even his SEASON stats that you use for half of his cards....equate to a "perfect" that can barely, at BEST, hit .250? In 22 seasons, he had a total of FIVE with a .250 average or lower....and of those five, four of them he played in less than 70 games.

This isn't even about how you hate every live player in existence. You hate every player from the 1990's onward, and it's so blatantly apparent it's almost laughable (except it's not funny).
