I don't think this would be a great marketing idea. For people that live and breathe baseball (and baseball only) this is ideal. But to get more sales, i.e., the fringe sales, by late October these people are in full NFL mode, as they're typically fans of multiple sports (and generally the NFL is one of them. If not, European soccer has a similar season start time.)

We certainly would have liked to get it released sooner this year, but it is what it is at this point!

As we do every year, we'll find a moment where we can sit back and think carefully about what went right, and what went wrong, and how we can proactively improve things next cycle.

And thanks for your patronage everyone!

Depending on how great and innovative this version is-and judging from comments from the beta testers it is great-the smartest route might be to release a game/update similar to 6.5. Maybe Markus could release an add-on next year for 15-20 bucks with updated rosters and minor league teams, , do another "final patch", if you will...and all the while be developing a new version for release on opening day 2011.

With my job, every day is the same. My week runs from Jan 1 - Dec 31.

It's more personal preference than anything. In fact, start the week at 10:16 pm on Wednesday night for all anyone cares... as long as you do what you do everyday, you'll be fine.

Guys, please, my most sincerest of apoligies. Believe it or not, I wasn't trying to start some sort of debate about the definition of "a week" either. My ONLY point was trying to reassure AirmenSmith that he wasn't the ONLY one that considered the week starting on Monday. I agreed with many that for my entire life I've heard it starts on Sunday; every calendar I've ever seen starts it on Sunday, and I think most folks consider it that way.

My ONLY reason for posting was to show AirmenSmith that he wasn't the ONLY one that considered Monday. There are at least TWO entities that do, Airmen Smith and MLB. Other than that I DO NOT CARE. Why does everything have to be a major debate???? I was merely trying to say to AirmenSmith that he wasn't alone, and suddenly it's a debate issue????

Geez, sure hope the game gets released soon. I'm pretty sure there are far, far better things to debate than this.

My bad, my apologies, and by all means blame this whole "debate" on me, as I probably should've just left it alone. Sorry.

Thanks, that is interesting. I use to work at Home Depot and that was the first place I had worked that had used the Monday - Sunday. I thought it was backwards (at the time because I had never heard of another place using it), but it is interesting to see that others use it as well.

I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination, but even the Bible said God rested on the 7th day (Sunday).

And there's some reason that you can't play baseball year round with a June release?

But your week started on January 1st, which was a Thursday. That makes the 7th day, Wednesday.

When I was young I was taught that the week started on Sunday for the English and Monday for the French. Personally, I more use Monday.

Your argument is weak.

Jews go to church on Saturday, and their religion is older than Christianity.

We're that impatient for this game that we've devolved into a "when does the week start" debate?

Honestly???

Yep, it's petty, but it passes the time.

You can put that more strongly. Jews rest on Saturday (which for them starts at sunset on Friday and ends at sunset on Saturday) BECAUSE it's the seventh day, and God rested on the seventh day. Christians celebrate Sunday because that's the day Jesus rose (and also to differentiate themselves from the Jews).

My suspicion is that Friday the 13th was originally thought to be unlucky was because the Friday Jesus died fell on the 13th, but I have absolutely no proof for that. Did you know that over any 400 year period more Fridays fall on the 13th than any other day of the week? Thursday and Saturday tie for second.

A friend of mine gave me a wall calendar 20+ years ago that had the weeks running from Monday to Sunday. I couldn't wrap my mind around it, so I never used it. My best friend counts his weeks from Monday to Sunday.
