For those of you all saying how the Jays have no chance...

You do realize that things last year were deceiving, right?

a) Towers went 1-9 or something ridiculous like that. He won't be pitching again.

b) Rios was out 2 months

c) Burnett was out 2 months.

d) Russ Adams. John McDonald. Edgardo freakin' Alfonzo.

Admittedly, every year things go wrong for every team. Injuries, underperforming, and such. And some, like Reed Johnson, are not going to repeat their success. But still, even Towers alone if he had have been a competant pitcher, would have made the team within 2 games or so of Oakland. Toronto definitely isn't a team he's going to just to throw in the towel...

The point is that he still produces. You said he wasn't any good, but he is good. And last year he was healthy. Yes, he's a huge injury risk. But he's not a productivity risk if he's swinging the bat.

If the Blue Jays really wanted to make a splash in the AL East they should sign Zito. They would affect the Yankees because they wouldn't get him and it would send a statement that they are ready to pay to play. Halladay, Burnett, Zito? That's the best one-two-three in the league when healthy.

That alone should boost them to the top. I saw him play in SF and he sucked wind there too.
