Oh yeah, Cubs win!

Absolutely beautiful. Greg Maddux - the Cubs' ace this year.

On another note, it sounds like Pie may get called up sooner rather than later. If Jones goes to the DL (or continues to struggle, for that matter), the #1 hitting prospect in the organization is expected to come up. Interesting.

With the way Jones has been swinging... well, in general, I'd rather have Pie playing anyways. Give our youngsters some time on the field to get better. Pie can't do much worse than Jones is.

I agree. Trade Jones to some chump GM for a #1 starting pitcher.

Go Hendry, get it done!!!

Will someone tell Baker that he doesn't HAVE to use the double switch option?

My God. Took Walker out. Unless he was hurt I never want to see a three hitter taken out of the game because of a double switch.

At least the announcers made a point of it..

Todd Walker was taken out in the bottom of the fifth inning and will have had possibly two more Ab's on the day. So our supposed best hitter(aren't they supposed to bat third) comes out of the game.

Then one of our more consistent players on the year comes out in Murton..... for Bynum......

Bynum! **** YOU BAKER.

Maddux is going to sign with the Braves again next year. So enjoy it while it lasts j/p In all seriousness some people do think he will go back to Atlanta.

Much better day today. Maddux is the front runner so far for the Cy Young! Yay Cubbies for making their record in the season series to 4-2 against the Cards!

You beat me to it, Mau!

Yes, Maddux has been pretty amazing so far. 4-0, with a league-leading .99 ERA. Nice.

I read an article this morning that stated Maddux worked out more this off-season than he ever has before. Apparently, he traditionally hadn't done a whole lot, and is now making concessions to his age for the first time ever. It seems to be paying off.

I'll bet he wishes he did that in his earlier years. He'd a been 40-0 with a .25 ERA.

Here's a link to that article, if anyone is interested. I thought it was a pretty good read.

In more good Cubs news, they sent Lardo #2 down (Jerome Williams) to Iowa and recalled Angel Guzman, who will start Wednesday vs FLA. (Crap. The tuesday night game is on here in Latin America but no wednesday. Looks like I'll be "working late" to use the internet connection to watch on Mlb.tv).
Also, Glendon Rusch, Neifi Perez, and Dusty Baker were all traded to Baltimore for Leo Mazzone. Rothschild will be demoted to the ground crew. Cubs fans everywhere are rejoicing in the news.

Ok. That last part was made up. But the first part is true.

Did anyone else notice that John Koronka is 3-1 with a 1.15 WHIP for Texas?

We got rid of him the deal that brought us Freddy "Don't Call me Jose Macias" Bynum.

And the baseball gods continue to spite me.
