Reading the Chairmans remarks, its like he has never encountered newfangled things like television and media attention.

Been watching the South American football on hmm think it's channel 4 and have to say if they think European football is bad with cheating and bad tackles they should watch those games, other night it was Colo Colo v Gimnasia (spel?) and man was it nasty.

Nothing like making the opposition fired up more than they already are.

Thats why its fun to watch. The game is much more physical. One of my favorite matches ever was the 3-3 Uruguay v Parguay Copa America match lasy time around. The game is still one of the few ways out of poverty for many down there and they play with a certain intensity.

I don't think I'll be buying, especially as the shipping is 30x what the actual auction price stands at.

Doesn't bother me the hard tackles and stuff but one of the Gimnasia players in the last minute with his team losing 6-2 think it was over two leg's just dived straight into the goalie with his studs showing, imo that's just lacking in class and if I'd been one of the Colo Colo players I'd have looked out for him after the game.

I know most make their money on postage because when you get it the postage never equals what they have charged.

Thanks.

Btw, looking through the list that you gave, check out this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Ultimate-...QQcmdZViewItem

Yep, $1100 for a 2001 edition card. And I love the write-up.

Even if you decide just to enjoy the card as it is, you'll be very happy next year when the price of these cards go back up through the roof. We all know the potential of this guy, and he's still very young. In the end, he actually had a good year. He was just tight and tried to hard to carry his team in the first half of the season. He will have learned from his mistakes, and look for him to hit 40-50 homers again next season!
Even a fanboy like myself could not have put it better.

I'm in the wrong country to take an interest in baseball cards. There's not much of a market here, surprisingly.

They are a reasonable investment though. You would almost certainly get your initial investment back and probably make a nice profit if you hold on to then a while. This is an argument you can make to your parents when it comes to christmas presents.

I had a look through pythagorean records, and the "unluckiest team" (biggest difference between actual record and pythagorean record) is the Steelers (.253 lower percentage than expected).

The converse, the "luckiest team", barring the Colts who have a pythagorean impossible 100% record to date, is the Seahawks (.167 better than expected).

The Steelers are starting to fall apart emotionally and mentally if recent comments by their starting RB are any indication.

Another interesting Seahawk stat is that they are doing a little better rushing per game without Alexander than with him

Really? Well one of those games was against the Raiders.

Another interesting stat - the "we should be 7-1" Lions have a record that is closer to their pythagorean record (on the unlucky side) than Miami, Arizona, Dallas, and Philadelphia.
