I decided from day #1 to play PT22 as Pack-Only.
Out of curiosity, who else from OL is playing Pack-Only? |

I did last year and I am again in 22. Every little accomplishment just feels a bit more satisfying, and it's the only way I want to play now. It might be a job to keep up with the best OL teams, but that's a good challenge!

I actually have my two other teams, both former OL teams running on autopilot. Might check them in a couple of weeks. Did last week and opened packs with their meager earnings. Might bring one of them back as packs only. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 04-24-2021 at 04:37 PM. |

Saturday morning surprise
From a Bronze 32 win.
I mainly share this so it doesn't look suspicious if I am able to suddenly upgrade the Perfectos. Maybe I can buy a couple of real pitchers with the proceeds. Just in time for the playoffs, so I can ambush for once and not be the ambush-ee. |

Before i gave up due to not having fun, several of my other teams were pack-only. None of them got anything good, and that I think contributed to me wanting to quit early.

I also did the pack early thing last year as long as I could. it was fun at the beginning, but the routine of ripping & reselling became too tedious & not worth the losing. I eventually caved. That said, a pack only league (something like OL/BFF) would be awesome & I'd join in a minute.

I've done the pack-only route with secondary teams in every version so far... and unless you get some fantastic pack luck, you'll just end up with a run of the mill squad that might bounce between silver and gold tiers last year with Waffletown it was pre-1945 for a large part of the run, but even that presented its own struggles to compete (especially with the advent of the 'special edition' card rewards for the Live missions.... ) so this version, my initial focus was to clear those Live missions and put the SE cards to use... sure it might be a "cookie cutter" squad that mirrors a lot of other clubs, but it's a solid group that can compete with the top clubs, earns me points, and will hopefully let me buy top notch replacements to distance my group from the 'cookie cutter' look while still being able to compete with the top clubs. |

We are all looking for a sense of balance. It easy to see that money or a ton of time will push you to the top, but for me that starts to feel like work. I want something that I can check in a few times a day and enjoy - but not feel like I have to put the rest of my life on hold.
Just today, I got more out of using my 40k PPs in the Auction House than I got from 54 free packs. Sure, the packs will give me a chance to hit a Perfect Card which I likely will never be able to buy - but that's why I spend "part" of my achievements on packs - just to leave that door open. I certainly can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I know I would get bored with the game very quickly if all I was doing was opening packs.

Coney Island finally blew the dust off their wallet and brought in Ben Tincup and sent Al Dark to the minors after signing Marty Marion. Dark was on his way to his second consecutive 30 error season. Marion won't nearly replace Dark's offensive production but I need a shortstop who can field the position.

Congrats...what number out of 25 is it? Quote:
Based on my overall results so far, I am struggling (when compared to previous years, at this point) as with being a full month in, I still only own one 100 rated OL card and only one OL compliant Diamond card. The rest of my current roster is mainly Gold and below. On the "plus" side, by not being on the AH for hours everyday, like last year, I have time and energy to work on a Fictional League that I have been wanting to create ever since PT19 came out. Before PT was invented, creating and playing out custom leagues was my "true love" with this game series and it is what I always did starting way back with OOTP9 and I did it until PT19 came out. Quote:
Last year, I had a super strong team, the strongest PT I ever put together, however, I couldn't last more than 1 week in Gold before getting bounced back to Silver Level. With being Free to play and deciding to be pack-only, I already have the mind set that I will never see Perfect or Diamond and I may also never see Gold Level this year however, I am 100% OK with that and I will not loose any sleep over it. My focus going into PT this year is to have fun and hang out and interact with all of the other OL guys. You can't put a price on that! ![]()

As of late afternoon, there are some R69 Divisional League battles still going on.
The biggest one is Shinbone-OL and Gettysburg-OL trading punches back and forth. The other two battles both involve one OL team each. Shoebox -OL is battling Mundane Keystone-OL is battling Reading

I can't believe two guys in here pulled the Tovar LE card. I dunno about you but I would sell that card as fast as I could. The card is great but not awesome, and the time to sell it is when people are interested in it. The price will go nowhere but down.
