The past versions of the programs, IMHO, (no one take it personally), was not beta tested very well. There are too many simple mistakes, like spelling errors, and something that should have been caught by just a casually user. The limitations on RBIS, or the 25 career limitation, the program bombing out when you generate a report file and put in too many days. Those are things that should have NEVER gotten past beta.

Being a programmer myself, and also a beta tester for other software, including MS, I thought that I would be a good beta tester. Plus the fact that I spent hundreds of hours writing a 3rd party program and also would be one that would be writing 3rd party programs for the new version. So, I would not only be able to test the program, but also test the data on how it could be used with 3rd party software, from a programmers standpoint.

As far as the cost of the program, big deal. Considering what new software costs, this one is still cheap. I can clean viruses off one computer to pay for it. It is sort of a tradition to give beta testers a free copy of the program (if they contribute), but I really could care less about that.

I have bought 5 and 6 and 6.5, and I am pretty sure I bought 4, but e-license said I did not, I was just not involved with the program with 5 and much as I was with 6, and even then, it was way after I purchased it that I started getting into it. Look back at the date when my thread was created for my program. (It may not be this thread)

He also posted a thread in the OT forum on the top forum users and was basing beta on that too. Basing it on how many messages you post in the off topic forum? I don't get that. Why not scroll back and look at the bugs I reported with 6 and 6.5 (and how I even solved some of them)
Pat yourself on the back just a little more...

Just because you wrote a utility for this game doesn't make you bigger than this community. There are a lot of people around that have been here since version 1, 2 and 3, report bugs just as often or more frequently then you and don't campaign for a spot on the beta team.

As a utility writer myself (Wallman utility with OOTP3 and 4, look it up), I understand the time you have spent writing this utility and the recognition you want from it. Believe me, I understand. Just be modest about it and maybe you will be recognized for it.

It's one thing to not get in the beta, but it's another entirely for him to not even get a thread stickied for what is, IMO, the best util ever created for OOTP.

The MLB 2005 installer is stickied. A Catobase TUTORIAL is stickied... Yet this isn't.

Nothing new... I fixed a minor bug that was caused if you started your league before 1901, but have not released it to the public. Since I have no stickey here, none of the new people to OOTP see this thread, so they do not know about the program. No one has requested any new features, so what is a guy to do?

Just wait for a new program to come out and start at page one.

I will be releasing a new version soon that fixes a couple minor bugs that have been reported.

I have also been working on a project for my other addiction, www.whatifsports.com. It is a couple of sidekick programs that work with the data of that site. Pretty cool stuff, I figured out a way to download all 8000 current leagues and let you search for, say, all of the Mantles and see how they are doing in all the leagues. It automatically updates the local files to keep them in synch with the site as it finds matches.

Odd thing is, I and others have asked for his for years and the interest in the program is very small.

I just started another one that takes the box scores and will create breakdowns for left hand/right handed, home/away, etc., that is missing in the game. It is quite a challenge, but is coming along.

I have been busy the past couple weeks as my server was hijacked by hackers and I battled them and lost, but after a week of down time, I was able to get a fresh windows install on it and no data lost and then had to kiss up to my clients to make them happy, but all is well at the end.

That WhatIf sounds cool. I don't like using online "games" like that. I find it tedious to know I can only play it online.

IMO you created the single best utility for OOTP, and were completely ignored by those in command. Bloody ridiculous. I don't think any of them even so much as came in and said "nice work" did they? Sucks.

I was only thinking about your util yesterday. Not touched OOTP in a few months (since I pre-paid for the vaporware that is OOTP 2006) but thought "I should check, see if Larry has updated the util at all and get back into OOTP".

Funny timing
