Sure Larry. If they switch teams, I don't even think it would show. I believe the almanac shows who was there are at EOY. I was thinking of a report that shows win/loss, championships...basic stuff like that.

Been working on the PBP for the pitchers this AM.

It seems to be working pretty good for starters, but have not checked it for spot starters or RP guys. (I am scared to).

Here is one of the best pitchers in my league.

Problem is, this is 1/2 way though the season. The size of the file is 1/2 meg in size, which is quite large for an HTML file. So, a full season is going to be over a meg in size. This is fine for local viewing, but not sure if everyone would want to use it for online. But then again, when you zip up this HTML file, it is only 22,067 bytes!!!

I will use this for selective pitchers. Not for everyone. I can see online leagues creating the report for the pitcher of the month or the pitcher of the week or for special requests. Or, let's say an online league was writing a 'special report' on a pitcher.

However, I really like the display. It is interesting to scroll down and you can see stuff like him getting 14 batters in a row out without hitting the ball out of the infield (April 11), or striking out 9 batters out of 16 (July 18th).

There are still some tweaks I have to work out before I have it ready for DL, you may notice the same batter twice or three times in a row. Those are the tweaks.

This is one of the harder routines that I have wrote, as I really have to do some tricky parcing of the lines. Each inning is contained in one line, so it is kind of a pain!

That page looks very cool. I hope you make it an option to tweak what pitchers get that treatment. I'd do for every damn hurler in my league

Actually, the way it is set up is you have a list the teams on the left. You click on a team and in the middle is a list of the players on the team divided into hitters/pitchers. You click on the player and it searches through the PBPs and creates this page or one like it for the hitters. It only takes about 15 seconds to generate the report, but multiple that by 3000 players and it could take a while, so I more and likely will not have a way to do the whole league. Maybe a guy list.

That is how I got my copy of 2003.

Just google and you will find tons of sites. Lot of free examples up there. MS also has a lot of good examples and their documentation is not too bad. Just be careful in using code written for 6, there is easier ways to do it in the .net version a lot.

Just wanted to let you know I finally downloaded your utility. It is freakin' awesome in the little bit I've played around with it. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for the cudos peoples...

Had a busy week working on 'work' stuff, so have not done much with AU, but have added a nifty routine to the PBP.

You click the CREATE MENU button and then you go and click on different players and let it make the PBp pages for them. Do as many as you want and when done, you hit the close menu and you have a menu to all the players that you created PBPs for.

I have a select group that I always do, so this is a good way to do it. I plan on adding a window so you can change the name of the output file, so, you could easily create a file with select players from each team and not have to do every single player on the team.

I will release a new version this weekend, just am not sure if I will have the PBP for pitchers done yet. It works good for SP, but not for non starting pitchers yet. There are still a few little quirkes with the hitters, just hard to trace them down. I would estimate that the PBP for hitters is around 98 percent accurate.

I am one that always likes to stay up with the latest technologies, considering that I work with computers 95 percent of the time. (The other 5 percent is spent sleeping).

I actually am a Microsoft fan. While I will say that their products are not perfect, they have some great programs. Their programming environment is top notch. Of course, when I saw that I could download the latest 2005 beta 2 version, I hopped right in. I immediately tried to import my AU into it and there were quite a few things I had to change, so I did not mess around with it. Then I had a hard drive crash and never got back to installing the beta. Well, I did tonight.

So, I thought I would play around a bit and started pretending I was writing Anderson Utilities II. I created the configuration screen, no problem. I actually did a lot of copying and pasting from the current version. I did some minor changes, where it gets everything from the .lg data folder, including the report folder. Then, you create a new report folder for my program. (I may implement that into my AU)

Anyhow, I do not really plan on doing a whole lot here, but trying a few things here and there. First thing I am going to try to do is see if I can figure out how to read in the .dat files. I already have done that with the league.dat file, but now trying with the player.dat file. Getting the players names are easy, but figuring out what all the stuff in between the names are gonna be a beyitch.

I really like the new interface for the IDE, the laying out of the boxes and stuff is really cool, much easier to keep it looking slick. It also gives it that XP look, as far as the buttons are concerned.

This may be one of those things that may never leave my desktop, since it requires .net framework 2.0, which is still beta. But, you never know.

I will keep you posted on what I come up with.

Talk about some fun stuff. I have to look at a bunch of garbage with a hex editor and then determine what all those numbers are. Wow...

So far, I am able to read in and I know how many players there are. So, from there, I know where the 1st player should begin. (This is how many characters offset from the start of the file). I then go through a loop and and read in each player name. So far I have the following:

Player First Name
Player Last Name
Bats
Throws
Age

I think nickname may be there too, but my example player (p1.html) does not have a nickname. So, what I have to do is go in and give him one, then I see where that begins. I am sure that the 1st bunch of variables are about him, his ratings, mlb option years, birthdate, etc. Hopefully it will be in some sort of order. Once I get all of that information, then I have to figure out the stats. That may not be too hard though, once I find the starting spot for each stat. I know that each value will be either 1 byte or 2, depending on how big the number is. For instance, no one will ever hit 255 doubles, or 255 triples, so that will be stored in 1 byte, however, someone will get over 255 at bats, so that will be in 2 bytes. You take the 2nd byte and multiply it by 256 and then add the 1st byte to get the total. (Hence the bug when someone gets more than 255 rbis and hits I think too).

What will this mean? Well, 1st, once I figure out what every byte is in the file, I can then do things get a players stats on the fly.

It will open all sort of doors that I was unable to open before. However, it will be some tough work

Any way you could add this "Best season- best team" thing I suggested some time ago. It's "simply" a list of the best seasons by a team.
e.g.
1914 Cubs 106 wins
1998 White Sox 104 wins
1966 Orioles 99 wins
etc.

A top 10 best teams ever would also be neat.
e.g.
Cubs 1024 wins
Yankees 1001 wins
Phillies 971 wins
etc.

Go into TEAMS and create a TEAM HTML REPORT.

When it is done, look in the LEAGUE SITE folder and you should see the
LA_all_team.html file.

That is it!
