I take "other code changes" to include bug fixes. If SI comes out and says that bugs will be fixed for free then I don't have a problem with this. But if they're bundling the fixes with new features and asking us to pay for it, then I do.

Say I'm advertising wicked cool widgets and I say they do A, B, C, D, E, etc. You buy one, but when you get home there's a slight problem with A, a big problem with B, C doesn't work at all, and D doesn't even exist (H2H anyone?), you're obviously not going to be pleased. You phone me up and rightfully complain. I say to you, "No problem! I'm fixing them even as we speak. I'm even adding the amazing cool features X, Y, Z! It'll be called the great gadget and cost only 14.95." Now some people might fall for this, but I would hope most wouldn't. Some people will even justify the extra cost by telling themselves, "well, they are doing extra work". But the problem is you never got what you paid for in the first place and are now being asked to shell out even more. And if something doesn't work right in the first place then extra things should be expected to make up for the time value lost, like Markus has done in the past with new features making up for bugs and features he just couldn't add.

Of course, all this is just speculation based on what we've read about EHM. I have not read anywhere that anything similar will happen with OOTP and I don't at all believe Markus would go for this. I'm not worried and I apologize if my previous post worried others. I'd just like to nip in the bud any ideas, ours or theirs, that this would be acceptable.

Fair enough. And the longer you put off purchasing a luxury item the less likely you are to ever buy it.

No official release date has been set so as to avoid a problem with delays.

If they say sometime in the Fall of 2005 or Winter then it can come out in Febuary and they'd literally be right.
