I may be a little late to the party, but I named my AA team the New Orleans Swing. I think i picked this up off the old ChrisCreamers sportslogos.net board and I fell in love with the name and color scheme

New Orleans Tailgators

New Orleans Voodoo

Louisiana Cajun Kings

Let me know your thoughts or if you prefer a different name. Thanks!
Being from Louisiana, Voodoo sounds a lot better. It judt brings the mystic

Pelicans is historical, as is (sort of) Jazz and you could do something with the latter to note the city as the birthplace of that musical form. I think “Zephyrs” was briefly a minor league team name there as well; kind of a way of invoking the wet weather without like making them the Hurricanes and evoking memories of Katrina (which, depending on how far out the save is, even Hurricanes could be okay? Like, Chicago has a soccer team nicknamed the Fire, for example).
Voodoo not good for this ERA?. I'm lost on that reasoning especially when Louisianians & NewOrleans folks EMBRACE the VOODOO culture. This is coming from a Louisiana resident

A bunch of bunk imo, with that thinking, what about the Braves or Chiefs or Devils or Hurricanes, least not all the college nicknames that don't "fit"...

Hey Eugene, I loved all these suggestions but ultimately decided to go in a different direction. Instead of choosing New Orleans, I placed this minor league team team in Baton Rouge...The Baton Rouge Red Sticks!

The Red Sticks will be the AA affiliate of the Austin Bats expansion team I'm developing. And I like the connection between Bats and Sticks as team teams. Also, why not try to fill my rosters with LSU and Texas players?

A lot of people seem to complain about repetitive team names, like the Los Angeles Angels (yet you never hear of anyone complaining about the Philadelphia Phillies), but it doesn't bother me. It's kind of quirky and I like that. So good for you!

If it's a Louisiana minor league team, part of the point is to have fun with the nickname.

Therefore, my vote is for the Geauxts! (Logo made with DALL-E.)

Good choice for Baton Rouge... the Red Sticks were in the old Class D Evangeline League in the 40s and 50s... Baton Rouge means "red stick" in French... the local Indian tribes used a red stick to mark tribal boundary lines.

As a teenager in the 1950s in the New Orleans Times-Picayune sports pages I followed the Baton Rouge Red Sticks, Lafayette Bulls, New Iberia Pelicans, Houma Indians, Crowley Millers, Hammond Berries, Monroe Sports and Lake Charles Lakers. Every day the newspaper posted box scores of the Evangeline League along with my favorite and most belove league of all-time, the Southern Assocition.

Beautiful work, StLee.

Very creative name.

Love the Mardi Gras beads next to the fleur-de-lis in the logo.

I don't know if they still have it or not since the library has been renovated, but the Evangeline League records were kept at Nicholls State. One of my history professors, Paul Leslie, was the historian in charge of the records. Still to this day, my favorite college class was one with Dr. Leslie, "The History of America Through Baseball."

Now that sounds like a history course I would have liked.

Nope, LSUNO didn't offer that course in the 1960s.

That's Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Finally in the 1970s, the Legislature permitted the name change to University of New Orleans.

Privateers is the nickname, named for the mercenary pirates like Jean Lafitte and Dominique You of the early 1800s.
