Welcome to Opening Day of the inaugural season of the Beer League!

With a full slate of games on the menu, let's check out the gold, silver and bronze beer performances of the day:

Gold beer - David Beyer (SS) of the Tattered Flag Man of War: Beyer has a lot of weight on his shoulders as the first round pick for the club, and if game 1 is any indication, he has the strength to carry that burden. Beyer went 3-for-4, with a double, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a 12-1 drubbing of the Funky Buddha Huki Idol.

Silver beer - Mike Ferguson (SP) of the Daft Badger Hoppypotamus: No pitcher wants to get that 'moral victory' of earning a top star in a loss, but that is Ferguson's fate here. Ferguson pitched a brilliant game, going 8 innings, with only 2 hits allowed, no runs, no walks and 7 strikeouts. Unfortunately, he was removed from the game in the 9th and the bullpen failed to come through. Daft Badger loses 3-1 to the Tree House Tornado on a 3 run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th (perhaps Luis Balderas of Tree House should be the star as he hit the game winning home run).

Bronze beer - Chris Allen (SP) of the Meadowlark Mob Barley: In what will hopefully be a rare thing, two of the top three stars were in losing efforts. Allen pitched a masterful game, going 9 innings, with only 3 hits allowed, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Unfortunately for Allen, his team also failed to score a run during those 9 innings. Meadowlark would lose the game to Texas Leaguer Chin Music in 11 innings 1-0.

Gold beer award: Starting pitcher Min-Tae Bae of the Ballast Point Commodores. Fans of Ballast Point hope Bae's first game for the club is a sign of great things to come. With the league only 2 days old, Bae became the first pitcher in Beer League history to hurl a no-hitter; pitching a solid 9 innings, with 0 hits allowed, 0 earned runs, 3 walks and 11 strikeouts en route to a 6-0 victory over the Scorched Earth Giant Killer.

Silver beer award: Starting pitcher Greg Cihal of the Mispillion River Space Otter. Cihal pitched an impressive complete game shutout, going 9 innings, giving up 3 hits, 0 earned runs, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts as his club takes down the Great Raft Reasonably Corrupt 5-0.
