I agree with your point. Since scouts gather their opinions from watching players perform, the game should model it that so talent changes aren't reflected in scouting reports until a certain number of at-bats or pitches/inning after the talent change took place.
Well, that and the scouts are never *wrong* when an older player has a dip in talent, or for that matter if they have a late career talent bump.

I do use 2-8 ratings for fielding and “other” ratings. I’ve otherwise gone back to turning ratings all the way off, unfortunately.

It’s fine for younger players. It completely drops the ball on older players. Scouting reports on veterans should if anything trail the stats they’re putting up by months or years. Instead, you know exactly when a vet falls off a cliff, even before their stat line indicates this. And since even Very Low accuracy scouting does this, it makes the whole endeavor worthless for older players.

I’m going to go back to turning it on for the draft and then turning it right back off for everything else again. Hopefully a future version will be semi realistic.
Sorry but this is completely untrue and makes no sense. Dan Aucoin on Twitter made a good thread on this once.

tried taking a look, and can find no reference to this post, or his posting anything at all about OOTP ever for that matter. Google has failed me before so any insight as to how to find this, or the context of what he was talking about would be helpful.

My hunch is you may be mixing up him talking about what occurs with real baseball players vice the current discussion of what potential in the game indicates for forward performance of a player.

I can have a player who wins the MVP, and if his potential drops to .5 (in game) stars in the offseason I know he is done and his career is effectively over.

You guys must have a different definition of “same ratings” his contact rating and avoid K took a huge dip using incorporated stats.

His pure ratings for contact would be 50 on a 20-80 scale vs 40 using Very Low accuracy w/ incorporate stats.

His pure avoid K rating would be 30 vs 20 on Very Low accuracy w/ incorporate stats.

He had a poor hitting year and struck out a ton. All of his other stats (HR, walk rate, etc) were normal and was expect hence not much change in his power, eye ratings.

Ignoring all of that. Very low accuracy settings with a very high accurate scouting report does not equal to 100% accuracy of ratings like originally mentioned.

Unless you guys are taking about the ratings on the scouting page. Those are results of simming with incorporated stats on. They don’t change when you re-scout.
