Paragon City Heroes 40-41 after a really tough month's schedule is better than expected. it looks like 95 DeGroms time is up, he was bad last season, worse this.
San Angeles 70s 40-40 just cruising along hitting with no power despite hitting plenty of homers in previous seasons. Montefusco finally got booted with a 1-9 record and 5.23 era, POTM Vida Blue comes in. SE Pete Rose continues doing Pete Rose stuff, hitting .319 with a .824 OPS (in Real Life he hit .323/.854, so it's a good representation of him) Lowdown Lugnuts 33-48 and headed back to silver, nothing works, no one can hit. OK Boomers 57-23 went back to the plan and completed some collections, adding Billy Williams and Chuck Klein to the lineup and Blyleven and Lyons to the rotation, Blyleven promptly won pitcher of the month

It's a pretty dire season in Diamond so far 30-51 and in the relegation zone. We went 81-81 last week so not a terribly terrible team but I suspect that having a 70-12 team in the division is taking it's toll.
Winning packs in tournaments is what's getting me through, though I think I need to revamp some teams.

The Gauntlet!
What if I told you the Jonestown Rockhounds were 2nd in the league in runs scored (515 and on pace for over 1,000 runs this season), were 4th in the league in team batting average (.284), were 6th in the league in On-Base % (.354), were 4th in the league in D.Eff (.714) with opponents batting .242 against Hound pitching, and had a record of 51-33...and then I told you that the Hounds are 4th in their DIVISION! That is the gauntlet that is Diamond League 359 AC West Division. This death trap of a division consists of the Flagstaff 49ers (57-27), the AnemoneKuma Kuma (54-30), Charlotte Knights (52-33), and the Jonestown Rockhounds (51-33). Talk about every game meaning something...Wow! I have never been in a division or seen a division like this before in Perfect Team. There may be many better teams in Diamond League than the 4 great teams in this division, but I doubt there is a better division top to bottom than this one right here. Although, I will say, the NC West Division in this same league is no slouch either with the San Angelo Warbirds (58-28), Defuniak Defuncts (53-31), and Dallas Sun Devils (51-34). And lucky us, we get to play 2 series against those teams in that division as well.
Unfortunately, one of these teams will not make the playoffs. I don't have a lot of confidence in the Hounds making it based on the fact that the other 3 teams have much better pitching, but we'll have to see how this plays out. It's definitely been a fun season so far.

The Bibra Lake Quendas (43-40) are doing just fine in I175 this week. I'm happy enough with a winning record, looking to just consolidate our position for a couple of weeks and then make a run with some reinforcements. I probably could have added three or four more players with the funds in the team account, but I have my eye on one particular player. His seven day average keeps trending down, but I never seem to find him on the AH.
Well, except for this one listing that keeps expiring and relisting, 48 hours at a time. Problem is, the lister never changes the price. Has be steady for three weeks now. And now, that price, which may have been in line with the market back then, is now double the 7-day average and even 150% of the all-time average. It's not going to sell at that price anymore, bucco. Okay, this isn't the AH grumble thread. Moving right along...the Arequipa Alpacas (40-45) have had one tournament place today...admittedly, I haven't been on top of entering the tournaments like I usually am. But they have earned enough PP for three more packs today...their stinker of a division has somehow gotten worse as they are now five games under .500 (down from one game since the last update) and in second place (up from third), still 1 GB of the lead. Has anyone ever made the playoffs and gotten relegated in the same season? And then there's the Secret Harbour Pirates (58-26). Still stinging from their failure to win promotion for the first time in team history, the Pirates are taking it out on G306. They have the best record in the National Conference and second-best overall, and have opened up an 8 1/2-game lead as we head to the All-Star break in a couple of weeks' time. The Pirates are firing on all cylinders, but will face a fierce battle with the world famous Florida Fire Frogs and the Osgoode Senators for the No. 1 seed. But the Bucs fear no team, in our conference or our division. It's just a shame that at least one of these teams won't get promoted. But we don't plan on it being us.

Collingwood found their stride in June putting up a sterling 23-4 record and with the tailwind of an ongoing 16-game winning streak in the first week of July have left the Wabash Brothers in the dust who collapsed in June with a dismal 8-18 record. (Don't you just love run on sentences?)
A DISCOURSE ON THE UTILITY OF A 3RD STRING DEFENSIVE CATCHER. One picture is worth a thousand words. (Note: the one loss was where Grandal was used as a pinch runner for Piazza). |

This is why people don't like Magpies. They collect shiny objects and just sit on them, barely using them.

I have no idea how, we just failed to hit or pitch. And we have 2 tough series, probably end up with at least an 11 game losing streak, time to sack the manager

Heading into the All-Star break, the Manatees are riding a 6 game winning streak (which followed a 4 game losing streak), and sit at 10-6 so far this month. They trail the YakAnglers in the west by 4 games, but hold a 3 game lead for the first wild card position. Greg Maddux, Duke Snider, Steve Carlton and leading AC vote getter Ichiro will represent the club.
In rookie, the Iron Manatees strategy change to purchasing only gold packs paid off, as the accrual of their 3,000th point led to new additions Kenley Jansen and Jose Ramirez stepping into roles with the team just before the break. Brian Goodwin, Mickael Kopech, Zack Greinke and leading AC vote getter Bo Bichette will represent the team. The month of July has been very streaky, with a 6 game win streak was followed with the last 4 games being losses. At 62-35, the hold a now only 7 game lead in the AC West, and the 2nd best record in Rookie 173. The BaphoMets followed a 7 game win streak with a 1-3 record their last 4 games. At 52-46, they are second in Rookie 149's AC East, 3.5 games back of the division and 3 games out of the second wild card. A tournament win just as break began saw Jorge Soler join the team as the new starting RF, Ian Happ as the new DH, and Adam Kolarek joining the bullpen. The Mets will not be represented at the All-Star game.

White Tigers finish the day at 52-56 in D.354. Only one all-star (Lajoie) although Paige and Joss are both having solid years, ERAs around 3.5 and winning records. Pulled a peak Yaz during the stream today, I'd rather have had another starting pitcher but he's a nice upgrade over the collection mission Yaz; 1 fewer contact, 8 fewer power, and 2 fewer avoid Ks, but 34 more gap power and 16 more eye, plus more speed and pretty excellent defense (108 in left and 84 in center). Trying to get into cap tournaments since I keep losing in 7 games mostly by 1 run in gold tournaments, entered a few today, kept losing in 7 games mostly by 1 run. Blew a 3-1 lead in the first round of the Thursday Super Cap.
Opened a whole bunch of packs for my other teams too but didn't come up with anything good. Black Knights have a 13.5 game lead at 74-32 in S.277. Had seven all-stars. Weirdly Greg Maddux was one, which makes sense because he has the best ERA and FIP on the team, but by far the worst record at 9-7; Johnson is 14-2 with a FIP almost a point higher, Carlton is 14-6, and Reed is 11-5 with a FIP 1.36 points higher. Sun Kings dropped of a bit, they went from leading their division to 11.5 games back at the end of the day, at 58-46. Still leading the wild card by 4.5. Two all-stars; Blyleven as a reliever, and Bagwell, who made it along with his 6 clones in our conference (the other conference only had one Bagwell!) Blyleven had thrown 61.2 innings as our long reliever for an ERA of 1.46. Johnson and Lyons have been awful and I should probably replace one of them with Blyleven, but Philippe, Maddux, and Carlton have all been great. |

Haha - right after I posted, the Arequipa Alpacas won the next tournament they entered, to get off the schnied. And that was followed up by Aroldis Chapman pitching a hi-def inning. Coupled with some card sales and rewards, the Alpacas picked up a quick 5K in roughly 12 hours. Time to rip!
Secret Harbour is still killing it in G306, by the way. Update: The pack luck has returned, too:

Paragon City Heroes 53-55, should be better, Maddux is officially my worst starter this season with a 1.22 WHIP and 4.55 ERA. Sold Cabrera and brought back Bagwell, he is about the same level of performance so bought Early Wynn and Hanley Ramirez (to play 3b) with the proceeds of the sale. Gaylord Perry was my only all star
San Angeles 70s 54-52 helped by an 8 game win streak (followed by dropping 4) Nolan Ryan pitched a 1 hitter (with 3 BB and only 5K) the one hit being a 8th inning homer, but we did get the win. Our all star was Pete Rose, that SE really seems to be a great card at this level, imagine he is terrifi in gold tourneys too, lots of new 70s cards got released that i have no hope of affording Lowdown Lugnuts 42-64 at one point rallied to climb out of the relegation zone with a 5 game win streak, then returned to their true form. OK Boomers 78-27, Bert Blyleven was one of my all stars, he's started 9 games after being acquired at the start of June, currently have an 11 game win streak going. Haven't done any more collections but added a 3b platoon of Stan Hack and Josh Donaldson working so far as both both have better gloves than Rosen and both are blasting the ball. Decent amount of 2430 PP earned. Ted Lyons won Pitcher of The Month, 3rd straight win of that award by 3 different pitchers

I wonder why on the side your leaders list 4 per category whereas I only get 3 on my standings page?

San Dimas (soon to be Mount Hawke) came into D360 with some serious errors in the roster. Through 40-50 games they were playing well under .400 and sliding towards the basement - though really not helped by Yogi and Yaz both hitting a tick over .180! 3 logical roster moves later AND once I'd realized that I hadn't given my 2 new relievers a role (doh!) and they've now played closer to .600 over the last 40-50 games. I'm happier now to be nearer to a very similar team, the Red Raiders and 'reeling in' Macacks Rumblefish

This year, however, same level, and he's much more what you'd expect. 13-5, 3.00 ERA (exactly) and an 8.3 K/9 ratio. By way of example, in his last two starts, he's pitched 18 innings and walked one batter (his K/BB ratio is 8.8 this season, last year it was 4.3) So...hang in there, I guess?

SE Maddux 99 is a stud--one of the best pitchers in the game. He's extreme groundball, so my infield is 98@ SS and 105@ 2B. What's your infield like?
Edit: My park factors max in favor of hitters. Double Edit: 23,775 PP earned to date. Last edited by bailey; 05-08-2020 at 12:56 PM. |

96 Wagner and 97 Jackie Robinson, both over 110, in previous seasons Maddux was easily my number one, this season he is really struggling for no apparent reason

Yeah I'd say those are both handy middle infielders
