Lee Gregory pitched pretty well in this game, but LAD Pete Richert was just a little bit better.
Its only July but it looks like the AL race only includes three horses in the Twins, Tigers and Orioles.
The NL race is close with 5 teams fighting for the top three spots.

Record: 10-16

Not much you can do when some bum by the name of Mays steps up to the plate and delivers a walk-off HR for the Giants.
We got it into extra innings, but we just couldn't get runners home.

1st Half Owner Goals:
He's disappointed with a .345 winning pct. I hope he realizes that this IS an EXPANSION team.
He wants an upgrade at 1B from last year. WE DIDN'T PLAY LAST YEAR, YOU PUTZ!!!
So his overall impression isn't so high. Really???

We tried to make a comeback in this game, but we fell short.
STL Wally Post makes the Mets pay for trading him to the Cardinals earlier in the season.

Still have no answers for LAD Pete Richert.
Everytime we face him, he pitches like Koufax.

The Giants win another one from us.
Just too much talent on SF.
Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Alou, and Marichal just to name a few.

On a side note, playing this 1962 NYM club has given me answers to why the RL 1962 Mets finished 40-120.
Even though the Mets had players such as Marv Throneberry, Roger Craig, Frank Thomas, Richie Ashburn and Felix Mantilla, they had no chance versus the rest of the NL in 1962.
How do you deal with such superior talent that is just all over the league?
Mays, McCovey, Koufax, Robinson, Cardwell, Aaron, Alou, Clemente, Cepeda, Drysdale, Gibson, Spahn, and Sanford!

The 1962 NY Mets didn't have a prayer!

We did take the series versus PIT but I lost the last game.
Don Newcombe is just not the pitcher he used to be and the bullpen just cant stop anyone.
Elio Chacon did have 3 hits in this game.

From now on, I will attempt to present the games that are simulated before the one I play on the schedule.
And in this one, I lose again.
CIN Joey Jay just dazzles us and a rough outing for Bob Shaw.
Skinner and Nixon have two hits in the 2nd game of this DH.

REC: 10-22

I like to think I know what I am doing, but with this team, it really doesn't matter.
But I am having a blast.
At least we are not the worst team in baseball.
That title belongs to the KC Athletics.
Man, they are terrible!
No wonder they moved to Oakland in 1968!

I cant buy a win when managing.
This time its MIL John Gabler who shuts out my Mets.
Lee Gregory pitched a very good game, but with no run support, we had no chance.

Mets Trade:

I sent Elio Chacon to the LAD for Walt Hriniak.
George Banks looks like my future starter at 3B and Hriniak is a young, up and coming utility infielder who can play any position.
He's only 19 years old, but I will let him finish the year in the majors and he will probably be sent to the Minors for 1963.
As we approach the Trade Deadline, I felt I had to make a move or two.

Everytime we play the Cardinals, Wally Post reminds us that we should NOT have traded him for Lee Gregory.
He went 4-4 with 2 HRs and 3 RBIs.
Robin Roberts sustained an injury and only lasted 3.2 innings.
Gordy Coleman had 3 hits today.
In case anyone is wondering, the Mets have lost 8 in a row!

Bob Shaw pitches a gem and I also snap my managing losing streak as well.
A pitcher's duel @ the Grounds, but its a duel that my Mets win as we take both games against PHI.

Difficult to win in this league.
We only lose 4-1 to the Reds because CIN Osteen just wouldn't give an inch.
Gordy Coleman has 3 hits in the losing cause, but the rest of batting order was just stymied.

We lose a heartbreaker here.
Lee Gregory pitched an awesome game, only to let the bullpen blow it.
We went to 13 innings, but I knew that sooner or later, the LAD would take this one.

Another extra inning game and another heartbreaker.
Don Newcombe might have pitched his best game of the year, but gets a no-decision.
The Giants win in walk-off fashion, just like the Dodgers in the last game I played.
Still stuck at 39 wins for the year,
Just cant get that 40th win to save our lives.

In the early parts of a game, the Mets play pretty well.
In the late parts of a game, we self-destruct.
Nothing I can do for this one as CIN dismantles us.
