From a programming standpoint, knowing exactly where the data is screwing up could be important to fixing the bug.

I have forwarded the players.csv to Markus.

You know Pratt, McMullin and Spalding were three of the guys that disappeared in my solo league. Maybe there's something in common in Lahman that they share that causes this....

Just brainstorming, although with the headache I have right now, I'm surprised I can even get a brain drizzle.

If Markus created an 1871 league, he would see the error every time. It never fails to show. I'm sure it must be related to the workaround needed to create a pre-1901 league, though there was no problem doing this in OOTP4.

This game has massive potential and I've been dreaming of simming from 1871 to the present since I heard it's feature list.

It's varied for me every time. I'll create another 1871 league and post the pitchers who vanish from the Active Roster for comparison.

The file is made like this
A record containing 250 id's (where you can see it in view all)
then other records like that:
Active roster (50 id's)
AAA (50 id's)
AA (50 id's)
A (50 id's)
DL (20 id's)

The problem is that your player are in the player's id (250)
but not in the other one.

I dont know if Markus can do a quick fix, if not, I can probably work on something and be able to create a small utility to fix this situation. But this wont fix the ingame problem. (3-4 days)

New 1871 league created and here are the pitchers who have vanished from the active roster.

Frank Fleet
Al Pratt
Al Spalding
John McMullin
Bobby Matthews

You are bound to see repeats from each instance as there are only 12 pitchers for an eight team league in 1871.

Ok guys, just sent the file to CommishJoe to be able to fix the problem.

1 - I did not have time to test it, so please make a backup of your league before and give a try. Let me know if something wrong.

2 - You have to Drag and Drop players that missing in Active Roster/AAA/AA/A/DL from the left column called "Roster"

3 - I did not put any verification in the utility, so be aware that you can put the same player 2,3,4... times in the Active roster. So make sure everything is correct before saving it.

4 - The file is called TempRos.exe

First the good news. The file works great and the simple, clean interface makes returning players to the Active Roster a snap. A note to others who use the utility, that you need to hit Save after editing each team.

The bad news. As soon as a day is simmed the AI drops the players off the Active Roster and back into vanished mode. Only workaround is to leave the teams with vanished players on Human Control so that the AI doesn't drop the players from the Active Roster.

It appears that Markus will be the only person who can provide a lasting, real solution to the problem.

Your utility works beautifully. There is nothing you can do to force the AI to keep them on the Active Roster.

That fault lies with the bug and we can only hope that Markus takes care of it with the 5.02 patch.

I can attest to this not being just a historical league problem.

I had created about 5 players (all friends of mine) for my fictional league. I made three position players and two pitchers. I would sim a season at a time and check the progress of each player I created only to notice that 2 of them had vanished, both pitchers I might add.

These were all 4-5 star prospects in AA or AAA. I could use the "League Setup -> Advanced Setup -> Find Player by Name" to find the players, but they were no longer to be found on any teams roster. I went back through the history and none of them had any career ending injuries or anything like that so I was stumped. I decided to dismiss the issue until I read this thread.
