It's just me personally, but I prefer more of a written report rather than stats. No offense intended and this thread is pretty good, but doing more of a writeup would be more interesting to me anyways.

hmmm...1 reply

Redhead, I plan to do more of a writeup with the team I will be using, but reporting on a historical league is tough to do a writeup, since if I played alot of games it would take forever to move thru the years. I'll continue doing it for another year or 2, hopefully more people will read/post, if not, oh well, I'll try something else.

Cleveland - May 1903

CLEVELAND BRONCOS
MAY 1903

RECORD:
20-34 - .370 – 13gb (12-14 home / 8-20 road)
Well the good news is we lost the same number of games as we did last month (17), the bad news is we won only 9 instead of 11. Really a telling month of how bad a team we are. Not only are we losing, but most of our losses are big (3+ runs). Our hitting, pitching, and fielding have all been horrible too.

TEAM NEWS:
Clark Griffith fans 12 batters against Chicago (A). (5/3/03)
Candy Lachance has 4 hits against Chicago (A). (5/4/03)
Ollie Pickering has 4 hits against Detroit. (5/8/03)
Bill Bradley has 4 hits against Chicago (A). (5/11/03)

TRANSACTIONS:
Danny Shay was sent down from AA Broncos AA to A Broncos A. (5/3/03)
– Our scout sent us an e-mail saying he wasn’t hitting at AA, however I didn’t think he was doing horrible
Harry Hogan was sent down from AA Broncos AA to A Broncos A. (5/7/03)
– Same deal as Shay
Ed Scott was put on the DL. (5/9/03)
Ollie Pickering has been signed to a contract extension, $6,000,000 per year, for 2 years. (5/10/03)
Erve Beck has been signed to a contract extension, $3,250,000 per year, for 3 years. (5/10/03)
Bill Bradley has been signed to a contract extension, $2,950,000 per year, for 2 years. (5/10/03)
– Decided to lock up 3 of our better hitter to multi-year deals rather than go to arbitration in the off-season with them
Dick Braggins was promoted from AAA Broncos AAA to the active roster. (5/14/03)
Crazy Schmit was sent down from the active roster to AAA Broncos AAA. (5/14/03)
- Schmit lost anything he had left (0er-1hit) and Braggins was our best minor leaguer so made the move

INJURIES:
Ed Scott was injured while pitching - Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle - He will be OK in about 5 weeks. (5/9/03)
Norwood Gibson was injured while pitching - Tight Shoulder – He is day-to-day, but full recovery will take 5 days. (5/19/03)

ADDITIONAL INFO:
Our starting pitching situation has gotten a little better. Griffin has stepped up his play and is pitching decent as the #3 starter. Hess and Gibson have struggled a bit but are still our 2 top guys. The #4 spot has been very shaky. Scanlan has struggled a lot all year, so we are going to give Braggins a shot as the #4 starter.
Other than Patten, our bullpen has flat out sucked, but unfortunately we have no other options there.
C Kittridge continues to struggle and Wood has played very well, so he will now they will platoon at C.
Both our SS’s have been horrible hitting the ball but again, no other options.
LF Arndt has played poorly and lost his platoon job to the solid playing McCarthy, who will start every day in left now.
We have moved 2b Beck up to the #3 spot in the lineup and dropped RF Davis down to 6th.

I have rethought my position and post by Redhead Alaskan, and have decided to kill this thread. I will still be doing the historical league and playing with 1 team, but have decided that the posts just aren't interesting enough to get reads on. I plan to start a new current players league in a week or 2 in time for opening day, so I will try starting a new thread/post then and hopefully get more interest in it. Sorry to any of those who were reading.
