Phoenix Suns

For the "ABA's" 9th franchise is a dry warm sunny climate; the Phoenix Suns. There has been controversy since day one of the design process since the city now has two teams with the exact same name, the other being the NBA's Phoenix Suns. After a legal court battle for copyright infringement the judge has ruled "Suns" is a generic term that is not property of the NBA franchise. Furthermore the city of Phoenix really wanted to continue their link to climate and helping sales out for both the ABA's and NBA's teams by sharing a joint nickname.

The Arizona state flag is one of the more iconic flags of the United States and the Suns have decided to use the sunburst red and yellow from Arizona's flag as their color scheme. In the original design process they also included the navy and orange also found in the flag. After several redrafts the decided to stick with a 2 color combo (red and yellow). Phoenix's main logo is a yellow sun burst with their word mark "Suns" across the middle with an exterior and interior red circle for detail. Their secondary make is a similar design with a baseball replacing the word mark. Their home jersey's sleeve patch features the baseball sunburst while the away features the suns sunburst. Both jerseys feature the Suns script across the chest with a triple stipe layout of red-yellow-red. The ball caps feature an "S" with a baseball centering in the middle.

umh Tatanka is a Sioux word and although there were alot of Native American tribes relocated here the Sioux was not one of them and alot of people would take offense of the use of the word here if you noticed all of our sports mascots are not native American related

Being from Michigan I debate on using Detroit as an O20 team or bringing them in as an expansion down the road. Due to the O20 divisional alignment Detroit/Boston/Philadelphia are battling it out placing a bid.

Thats because the logos and then the jerseys are both just all a big image. I have no uploaded any individual files yet. I will be doing that as a complete set once I am done!

And thanks, thats a good idea. Hartford deserves a team for sure; wether they make it as an O20 team or an expansion we shall see

San Diego Wave

With half of the teams finalized for play in 2015-16 the next entry is the San Diego Wave. Situated on the very South Western tip of California San Diego is known for their surf culture with the Pacific Ocean nearby. To represent the surfing community and the warm weather of San Diego is why they've decided on the nickname wave. In deciding on this name they wanted to represent a modern feel with the more upbeat tempo that California has.

The Wave are the only team thus far who has not signed off on their design. Currently they are holding a poll with local San Diego residents only (anyone checking this thread please chime in on which color scheme) on wether to use black in their logos or not. The Wave's logo features a home plate filled with a multi-teal/green combo wave image with a orange sunset back drop. The jerseys feature this as an arm patch. The Wave have unique jerseys when it comes to their scripts which also feature a more stylized font. An interlocking SD can be found on both home and away caps. If the Wave decided to drop black from their color palette their jerseys will feature a redesign as well with the darkest teal/green shade replacing any black.

Agree love the logo and design but instead of black why not go with tan? The zookeepers tan uniforms to give homage to the world famous San Diego Zoo and The Safari Park

The more and more I look at both I like the non-black option also. I could possibly remove the orange sunset and swap it with a tan color, as sand instead of a sunset. Also like the idea of a possible option for a tan home jersey to page homeage to the zoo keepers. I'll try it out and see how it looks
