I believe I have found a financial system that works to my liking.
As I said in one of these posts, the key was to create those Indie leagues with plenty enough time for them to sign players. I created them both on January 1st, with league start dates of May 15 with just two weeks of spring training. My Major League financials have not change from my previous post so I'll just post my two indie leagues. Veterans League (30+ year olds) has just 4 teams this year. We'll see if I need to add more in the future. Northwoods League (Under 30) has 16 teams. This has resulted in a FA pool of around 145 players. EDIT: Cash Max in each league it set at $ 1 MM. My next question is regarding the Player Dev. Budget.
Does it do anything in a league where there is no minor leagues? I do have a 15-man reserve roster in each league. Will it have some effect on them? |

it will still affect development. in league without minors, the reserves are the minors basically. you could just set the baseline to 0 and not worry about it

Well I don't want to get rid of it.
My question was more along the lines of, does putting any money in that bucket really do much. Sounds like it does. |

1) disable automatic generation of free agents
2) create enough feeders to support your league 3) set your draft settings to ONLY pick feeder players Takes a generation to get normalized players, but it works.

Thanks. I'm sure I'm being dense but where/how do you disable free agent generation? Is it possible to do that for a league that doesn't have a feeder league directly associated with it?

Disable FA creation only applies to leagues that have the draft turned off.

This worked very well.
I'm at the end of my first season with these two new Indie leagues and I have only 63 players in my FA pool. I've also tweaked the finances again. Brought them down in the Indie leagues as I noticed teams were not coming close to my team Salary Caps. Will post those later. |

I don't think posting the financials again will do much to help anyone. So I'll just post a summary of things I discovered when trying to add these Indie's to use up my free agent pool.
1) Lock down the team you run if you handle your minor league teams. Turn on the "Prevent any AI Roster Changes". I also locked down each player. 2) Give your new leagues plenty of time to sign players. I created the league on January 1st, first games started mid-May. 3) The obvious ones, turn off the draft and auto create players, and any others that automatically create players. 4) Give the Indie teams plenty enough cash to use, then pull that back once you see how much they are actually spending. |
