As for taxes, I don't remember. I want to say no, but not sure. I also want to say that I too miss the days of buying my favorite games in their boxes as there is something nice about actually owning the physical game itself. But, those days are disappearing and it doesn't make much sense to cut into profit when you can go the digital download route. BTW, I am surprised no one asked for the Intellivision version of the game.

OOTP 13 will NOT be available in stores. It will be available from our website and the Apple Mac AppStore, but nowhere else.

Thank you to Markus for giving me the answer that I was looking for. I am not sure that is worth the extra money to get the CD but I will consider that option when I finally decide to order the game. I have loved the game for years and missed edition #12.

I only remember one year it was in brick and mortar stores and on gamers gate and I think that was when OOTP was part of SI but I could be wrong on the year. Like was said before only big companies like Sony, Blizzard, or Paradox (big?) seem to still put out CD versions in brick and mortar stores. It is a lot of expense that could leave a company with a lot of unsold packages and CDs. I understand the relutance of some to order online from a small company but honestly I think it is the only way a small software company with 2 or 3 titles can do business. EA can eat the loss of unsold disk, packaging, and shipping. For a small developer like OOTP in a rather small market this is a big portion of profit. It is just hard to get a retailer like best buy to buy 1 million copies and have 500,000 or more sit on their shelves not selling. I don't like but the market is geared toward games that promote stick skills over management skills.

Markus, not for nothing but will OOTP13 be available through Steam as well? I know previous versions were available for purchase and download via Steam if I'm not mistaken.

i still don't understand why one would pay an extra $10 for a cd when one could make their out cd containing the excutable file for almost nothing. Could include your league if you wanted to and have allot of room left over.

Of course this make sense too. Unless somebody doesn't know how to do it or don't own a CD writer on his computer (wich is doubtfull in those days). Last edited by AESP_pres; 03-12-2012 at 01:04 PM. |

This has no actual 'value'.
This does. Except that they're still going to have to download the latest patch. |

Nobody should have to download the game again. Everybody should backup every file they have. It's just common sense. I have an portable hard drive with about 230 gig of files. Most people don't have that much and can get an eight gig flash drive for about $15. I just can't believe how people post sometimes about a hard drive crash and they lost everything.

Patches are smaller than the main executable though. ~30MB compared to ~250MB for OOTP12 if I recall correctly, which could be quite a difference on a slow connection.

Just got an email that said 4/6 for OOTP if you pre-ordered.
Sweet but damn, Markus! Bump it back a day (BoSox open on the 5th)!
