I was disappointed that OOTP12 was not stocked in the brick and mortar stores. It should also be noted that a previous edition of the game was renamed Season Ticket Baseball which was my first experience with the series. I don't what Out of the Park version this was and I think there was more than one year produced using that name. Best Buy was the store that I bought OOTP11 in.

I would like to direct a question to Markus only. Can we expect to see this years edition in the brick and mortar stores or any future editions via that method? I simply prefer to purchase that way. Edition 13 looks great and I have had a great experience with number 11. I would even support buying game cards at retail to download the game. I would just like a definitive answer from Markus whether it will be in retail stores not other users opinions about it.

Thank you for the feedback in advance and I would forward to getting #13 in my hands.

No I didn't get up on the wrong side of the bed. I have just dealt with enough forums. I didn't want a whole bunch of people giving me their opinions. I just haven't seen a definitive answer from somebody with Out Of The Park on this topic. I will buy it if I can find it in a box. I will even consider downloading it from Gamestop if that is an option. Viva Media put it out 2 years ago and I don't see why they can't do it this year.

I have completely enjoyed OOTP11 and the new edition looks promising. I hate the fact that PC games are disappearing from the retail stores but I also understand that new ways of doing business need to be explored. Game cards with a code on the back could be a perfect way for a company such as this to have a presence in the retail brick and mortar stores.

The only suggestion that I would make and I know that it is way too late to make suggestion. My only suggestion would be to make the minor league teams make more sense. A Denver team should have minor league teams in Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, or Grand Junction. My experience has been that the CPU will set a Denver franchise up with a team in Albany. I am certain that I could do this manually but I have never experimented enough with the game to do that.

If there is a definitive out there on boxed copies of this years game that I have missed then feel free to direct me there. I don't care what was said about OOTP12. That could always change with this years edition.

Thank you for the warm welcomes. I have watched this forum without posting for a while and I would like to think that the reason for the great game is because of the great users in the forums who strive to make the next edition better.

I'm not sure if it's still possible, but at one time there was an option to order a CD Copy. That may have stopped though when they switched from elicense to esellerate. Sorry I can't expand any further on the topic.

Welcome to official presence on the Forum (I know you've been lurking). Just out of curiosity why would you be willing to download from Gamestop but not directly from OOTP?

I actively discourage people from buying through any other route and especially Viva Media or other hard copy sites because it reduces Markus' income. Secondly I see many posts from such people complaining about late or non-existent access to patches. These posts generate an erroneous sense of poor support.

You can buy in any way you want, I'm just curious about the specific reasons.

BTW, some have mentioned the "need" to have hard copies. I download and I keep CD's and DVD's of all the versions in a box. We all have access to the OOTP index see here which has everything you would ever need.

Again welcome aboard.

The reason for downloading from Gamestop is that I know I can get gift cards to there. Downloading directly from Out of the Park means on my CC bill it shows I bought a game. I can get the gift card from the grocery store or drug store and claim it was groceries not a game. I usually don't get asked but I like to have a good execuse when it comes up. Plus I get points toward gas discounts at my grocery store. I don't think Out of the Park is going to offer that. What is the title of the company here so I know how to refer to it? I will try to refer to it in a good manner.

My preferred method would be a CD in hand like I have now. I have had a new hard drive during that time and I have been able to install the game again without having to download or contact somebody about how to download the game again.

I have been lurking and I thought this was a good opportunity to inquire in my own way and to make my opinion known regarding boxed editions of PC games.

boxed versions of PC games are just disappearing, it's just cheaper to offer it digital, most content will end up this way. Just send Markus a PM, that's the best way to find anything out though he might be just little bit busy, otherwise it's Out of the Park Developments should be the company name.

A suggestion to get around it showing up on your CC is get a virtual one, withdraw some cash say it's for whatever, go to western union or whoever send that to fill you virtual cc and buy away with that, or send it to paypal instead and buy through there. Quite a few ways to get around pesky items showing up on your bill.

Seems like a PM to Markus would have been a much wiser choice if you are so determined not to hear from anyone else.

Great idea with the prepaid credit card. I will have to investigate it. The reason for directing a question to Markus in this thread is because Markus has already responded earlier in this same thread so I am going under assumption that he is watching it. I don't PM people. Never have.

The information has been helpful and I appreciate it. Now if they will just get that pesky thing out then we can all download it and play it!

Or, if it comes down to it, just grab a bunch of quarters and go play it at the arcade!

I haven't purchased a game from a store in years, maybe 10. I really really dislike having to put the cd in the drive to play. Something about it rubs me the wrong way. I'm not a big fan of elicense but see the need so I put up with it. Buying games online is quicker and more convenient.

My question will probably be a dumb one but I will ask anyway. I saw some VISA and American Express cards that said they were debit but not credit cards. I presume these will work to buy the game with. Do we pay tax or not? Final question will be if two cards will work.

Very helpful comments to date but the original has gone unanswered because I would much rather purchase it in a store just so I have the physical CD.

I just want to say that I always purchase the game at full price a few weeks after release because:

a) I want to give you time to wipe out the worst bugs
b) I want you guys to get the full price because you freaking deserve it

I've been playing OOTP since 3 I think. It's just amazing, and it takes up a the vast majority of my game playing time every year.

I really hope you keep doing this for a long time, Markus. From someone who has been playing baseball sims since I had Statis-Pro and Stratomatic baseball cards scattered all over my bedroom floor circa 1979, OOTP is as good as it gets.

And please don't give up on the 2D graphics idea ala the old FPS Baseball series. The ability to someday build our own stadiums and watch our teams come to life in them is something worth pursuing. Maybe not next year, but hopefully someday.
